Barotrauma, don't look at nothing that spoils the game, maybe just items but don't search for enemies or anything like that.
If possible, play with friends and not with randoms unless you find a serious group.
Is this playable with 2 more friends? Is 3 enough?
>play with friends
Impossible.
>play with-
Nope. Never playing it.
I'm lucky because I played it with a big group of friends that took the game seriously (between 4 to 8 players at the same time) we played it on hard.
The last levels were an awesome experience, at that time we were 5 players and it was scary as frick, no one spoiled the game and the moment we discovered the final boss we just stood there in silence. We lost a few soldiers in the fight but we beated the game together. 10/10 best co-op horror experience.
Barotrauma is the only good one I know actually in the water, but there's hidden Hidden Deep which is set underground below the sea and is pretty alright
What do you mean can't wait it's out already

i don't see the point of pirating this game. the whole point is the multiplayer interaction. It'd be like pirating gmod, a game thats basically multiplayer central.
add Iron lung, but also Bioshock and Sunsless sea deserve a honorable mention as they fit the theme very well
Underwater horror has so much untapped potential it almost hurts
>Iron Lung
I tried that game and it sucked ass. You just hold the buttons waiting for the X and Y co-ords to match up. And there's annoying obstacles everywhere that are a pain in the ass to get around. I quit playing while I was ahead and looked at a longplay to find that was THE ENTIRE GAME leading to a shitty jumpscare at the end.
I expected better since it was made by the guy who made DUSK which was excellent.
>that was THE ENTIRE GAME leading to a shitty jumpscare at the end
Same here. Garbage like this is why I won't jump into random indie games anymore, no matter how highly rated they are.
As much as I despise the rich, these particular ones have done for humanity than you ever will. Plus people dying isn't usually cool unless you're an edgetard

Bro? /misc/ and twitter are cheering the same thing for similar reasons lol.
/misc/ has the CEO saying he didn't want to hire whites and that they're rich and ruin society thing to go off of. Twitter lefties just hate billionaires in general
>these particular ones have done for humanity than you ever will
I have single-handedly done more for humanity by not being a billionaire.
You really think the token shit they've done offsets the damage they've done to the environment, society and the individual in the process of getting rich?
Fricking moronic lmao, just fricking imagine someone genuinely believing someone who goes into space for fun is anything but better dead. >mimimi but he planted trees and gave little pittances of munni to orphanages

Instant. They'd have effectively ceased to exist the moment even a minor hull failure occurred. It would be so fast that there would have been no moment between it happening and their bodies being obliterated.
They could feasibly stretch the O2 out a little longer if they start killing each other off.
But realistically speaking, they were reduced to toothpaste by ocean pressure days ago. The sub almost certainly imploded rather than simply losing power.
Wasn't everyone on there like 50+ except for the 19 year old? If they have any nautical know how they should have killed each themselves to give the 19 year old more oxygen.
And leave him sitting in a pile of rotting corpses in an airtight capsule for a few extra days while he slowly dies of dehydration instead of hypoxia.
Even if, hypothetically, they could rescue him by that point, I genuinely don't think there's be anything left upstairs, since that is such a macabre scenario that I doubt there's anybody who wouldn't be broken by it.
>what if spooky thing in woods? >what if spooky thing in water? >what if spooky thing in dark?
are the foundation of almost every primordial human fear
theres not much in terms of vidya that you can discuss
We have Barotrauma, Subnautica and SOMA essentially
honorable mention can be Sea of Thieves since you get to appreciate the scale of it while it does make you go underwater for wrecks or have to deal with giant sea monsters
It can bring your fear of deep seas/thalassophobia relatively easily
What Id love to see at one point is a game where you plat as an Old God trapped deep underwater. Your end goal is to have mortals break your prison and you can pull that off in several ways, like corrupting the minds of researchers or fishermen, create cultists that would go around the coastlines forming cults and establish the means of your ascendance with sacrifices, etc
then the endgame would be you being free and have an epilogue chapter of you going from town to town annihilating everything
add Iron lung, but also Bioshock and Sunsless sea deserve a honorable mention as they fit the theme very well
Underwater horror has so much untapped potential it almost hurts
It's actually a pretty fun game. The wife diver is actually pretty cute in this nerd kinda way.
And the robot bear is still the scariest thing in this fricking game.

Crabs and crustaceans can't get big enough for a shell like that to really protect them from larger threats. Even the immortal lobster is a myth since at a certain point the lobster cannot survive the molting process. Crustaceans are forever stuck on the midcard.
I think it's either some jellyfish relative or some cephalopod.

Not much is known about them and very few species of them are catalogued.

it sucks that this game is impossible to find now but you can get its sequel/spinoff on steam called narcosis.
if you're interested in the plot you can still find the tie-in novel trilogy for the pressure game written by alex beyman. and the tie-in novel for narcosis called "surviving oceanova" also written by alex beyman.
the 2010 game pressure is now lost media but you can get its spinoff sequel narcosis on steam, xbox, and playstation. and the tie-in ebook novels for both pressure and narcosis are less than a dollar on amazon.
i wish they would remake pressure it was such a good game. we had some wild threads about it back in the day.

it was real but no fricker even played it
it was just one of those games I saw once and thought "oh neat I'll have to try it sometime"
then a few months later it was fricking nowhere to be found, then someone made that dumb meme copypasta as an epic troll so now 10 years later nobody thinks it was ever real in the first place
you're probably right...
unless someone had made a game based on pressure, called pressure, before the pressure copypasta was even posted
don't get me wrong, it looked nowhere near as good as everyone thinks it is
if anyone managed to dig it up it would be a massive disappointment probably
its real and it was a 10/10 indie survival horror game made by dev anons on Ganker after many brainstorming threads. there were only 3 playable builds actually made. pressure: first encounter, pressure: dark corners, and pressure: beautiful corpse. they were hosted on the old megaupload and were distributed here but that file host is gone and so are the thread archives. we had a guy in the threads that went by "horror anonbro" writing the narrative for the whole thing after a thread consensus that he could write the best out of most of us. later he was revealed to be a guy named alex bayman who used to write blogs about lake diving in a surface supplied dive helmet while tripping on hallucinagens. alex ended up publishing his pressure game stories as ebooks on amazon. then he got hired as a consultant and writer for the professionally published game narcosis which he also wrote a book for.

this is wrong though - it was just some ancient AGDGgay shilling his game in threads that never stayed up long because it was literally the same tier as this
GUYS I FOUND IT!!!!
I refused to download anything until there was more discussion, or it looked less dodgy, as at the time I was shitscared of *le epic 4chin anonymous hacker virus lostboy.exe" or dolphin porn or some shit.
There were never any "brainstorming threads" until after the original pressure disappeared. Some anons brought it up later on, and it sparked everyone's imaginations to go wild with what it could be like.
It was before notch used to post here so that's the sort of timeframe you're looking at.
It was a pretty big file, downloading it with the connections we had back then was slow, and the disappointment from realizing you wasted so much bandwidth downloading something you already had was immeasurable.

For me it's the ocean surface at night in total darkness >WW1 >Battle of Jutland, 1916 - British Royal Navy "Grand Fleet" vs Imperial German Navy "High Seas Fleet" in the North Sea >be sailor in the royal navy >spend hours of daylight fighting the imperial german battlecruisers >German fleet in disarray and retreating into the distance >night falls >total darkness >communications lost >sight of friendly ships lost >sailing all alone into the void >can't turn on any lights, running blind and silent >see a shadow to starboard >what is that? >definitely a ship >Germans were last spotted far off, this must be a friendly British ship >thank god >light on, signal "hello" >searchlight appears from the dark shape >then another >and another >suddenly hundreds of searchlights beam from the darkness >all lights fixed on you >it's not a british ship >it's the entire german fleet reformed and sailing south in column >get instantly blasted by multiple battleships broadside >ship in pieces >condemned to drown in the cold depths of the black void
"Ganker makes a game" threads were always the best - the gnome adventures one was kino too. does anyone remember that one that was like groundhog day with a nuclear bomb or something
I don't have the cap, but it was called like 180 or something like that. The gist was the player wakes up and goes about their normal morning routine, and three hours later a nuke blows up the town and the day resets. So the player'd have a three-hour window to identify the location of the bomb, who's setting it off, and figure out a plan to stop them. If the bomb went off or the player died, got knocked out, arrested, etc. everything would reset and the only thing the player could take with them between loops would be information (ex. the blast is coming from the northwest part of town, the sheriff keeps a backup weapon in his passenger seat, the gas station on 7th and Elm is robbed at 7:23 and if no one intervenes the teller is shot, etc.)
I thought pressure was a fake game like the king of the hill online threads, you gays are telling me it was real?
>he keeps falling for it
Anon, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.
why is water so spooky
Attenuation of light. Even in pristine tropical waters, light has an attenuation half-distance of about 8-10 meters, which means "visibility" as we would usually define it cuts off at maybe 30 meters in any direction (less if you're in murky waters). Even in thick fog, visibility on the surface is at least five times that, or about a hundred times that if it's clear. We get 90% of our sensory input from sight, so we're very out of sorts if we can't see shit coming or don't know whether that fuzzy blob swimming towards us is a playful porpoise or a hungry hammerhead until it's too late.
It definitely would probably be more annoying than fun a majority of the time if it were made exactly like the pasta, it'd be interesting to see how the meta would form (players instantly killing high ranking people before the disaster even happens so they can stockpile loot, etc)
>the Ganker archives dont go back far enough for the pressure threads >only threads of people reminiscing about pressure threads and a tiny handful of screenshots

A bunch of absolutely moronic rich people pioneering a novel way to commit suicide, while tapping into some very common fears (thalassophobia and claustrophobia) is bound to generate some morbid curiosity.
1. It's a distraction from the dull 24/7 media crap about Trump, Ukraine War, Inflation, 2024 election, etc.
2. It's related to the Titanic, a 100 year old famous wreck

Sunless Seas Zubmariner expansion is fricking sick
>adds tons of weird underwater ports with really weird settings like a grand crystalline structure that turns you into a crystal person if you spend too long there or a giant animal people manage to safely live inside of. >terrifying boss tier monster chases you if you're too close to death or too stressed >massive abyssal canyons to probe
>safety protocols say the glass will break beyond 3000psi >take it to 5000psi >safety protocols recommend 7 inch walls >go with 5 inches >safety protocols recommend a locator beacon >don't have a locator beacon >put the exit on the side of the vessel so you can't exit without sinking the sub >bolt the exit shut so you can't leave one way or another >shit talk safety protocols >get in your own creation >fricking die
The thing that baffles me most is the $250k price point for a trip. I doubt the sub even costs more than $50k, if the piloting system is a fricking USB game pad
tbh a lot of "diversity hires" are more because minorities are way cheaper cause rights or whatever. classic cost cutting.
also he wanted young people too cause they're also cheaper.
why do you morons keep parroting this? homosexual was a GOP donor, not some woke crusader. He wanted to save money and not have some experienced old salt tell him his sub was gay and moronic, simple as.

From what I can tell, there was one safety dude who told them: "Your shit ain't safe, you take that to the titanic you're gonna die". So he fired (or didn't hire? Sources unclear) the dude, and said: "Yeah, we didn't work with that guy because we're looking for something more diverse and inspiring than a 50 year old white dude". Just spinning his dismissal of someone who knew what he was talking about as a "pro diversity" move, when, well, pic related. This ain't exactly a cultural melting pot over there at seagate.
You've actually gotta be a homosexual on the level of The Quartering to believe they died because they went woke.
Ganker is misconstruing their diversity hires- they hired young, inexperienced people to work on the sub to breathe new life into the industry. Naturally, a team of noobs knows frick-all and fricks up. In a normal company, this is where the older more experienced employees or safety officers would step in.
Remember, diversity doesn't just mean skin color. They hired a diverse array of young promising workers with diverse skillsets
? That's more or less what I was saying. There was one old white guy who had safety concerns, and the rich moron fired him, and then lied, saying "50 year old white guys are not inspiring enough". Making it seem like he booted the dude because he wanted to support diversity, when in reality, he just didn't want anyone to tell him his ideas are moronic.
Subnautica is pretty great. Nails the atmosphere of the ocean suddenly transitioning from colorful and comfy to unimaginably beautiful to pants-shittingly-terrifying with just a few shifts in lighting, sound, and fauna.
Not a horror game but I remember a moment from Monster Hunter Tri that scared me as a kid. It’s one of the very early missions where you have to swim into this underground cave to kill a few basic sea enemies. Its a chilled basic tutorial mission but then out of nowhere the fricking Lagiacrus shows up and tries to murder you. The panic of being underwater and casually killing easy enemies then suddenly being hunted by a huge predator in a confined space was intense.
Probably wouldn’t scare me anymore and honestly no other Monster Hunter game has ever given me any emotion even close to that. It’s a really cool sequence of it catches you off guard though.
the ancient magic of Rahab is corrupting the local sea creatures and making them turn upon man. we need brave heroes to venture deep into the ocean to seal him away again.

Why are they like that.
I loved fighting Lagiacrus underwater tbh. the underwater fights were so piss easy compared to the surface fights.
I think it was because there were very few annoying ADD's like Vespids or the mini raptors. the only underwater fight I loathed doing was the final mission where you body Cephalus because its just a huge damage soak/DPS test thats not actually dangerous.
That's not even it, its the fact that everybody was pretending to me moral and having principles and they all went out the window in a span of 12 hours. Shit doesn't even last a day anymore.
Irreverence is the only shelter we have left from the ongoing horrors that take place on a daily basis, the interminable monstrousness we are forced to impotently witness.
Better to laugh at the world than to torment yourself.
It's sad that those other people died but I have no sympathy for the CEO who couldn't even be bothered equipping the experimental sub with a basic sonar beacon.
>but we're spearheading future exploration!!
The only thing being spearheaded was his body as it was pulled through the cracks in the submarine with him being smeared over the ocean floor. The crabs feasted that day.
Not how it works. Either a small crack formed and a beam of water moving at mach 1 tore everyone into bloody shreds, the entire thing cracked and a wall of water smashed them into jam, or the entire thing collapsed and they became toothpaste being squirted out of a flat metal sheet.
I have no sympathy for him at all, he's the John Hammond of submersible exploration >says he spared no expense >actually spared every expense
The man cut literally every corner possible - no distress beacon, no emergency power, no backup communication, no manual controls, no CO2 scrubber, no on-board navigation system, no safety tether, etc.
You'd think a man like that would just be an amoral conman, but then he up and climbed into the damn thing himself
I think it's probably better that he's dead and thus can remain unaware of the massive laughing stock he has become and will remain for the rest of time
The entire thing was a bootleg operation and everyone involved knew that it was bootleg.
They had all the participants sign waivers that they can die in horrible ways and every single one of them signed and went down.
They knew what they were doing and how risky it was and it was a part of the appeal.
The only thing that sucks is the paki guy's kid getting sucked into it, probably to appease his father.
That's what I'm saying though
The CEO himself climbed into the aquatic coffin, after knowing how many corners he had cut
It seems so bizarre that I'm half willing to believe this was just an elaborate suicide plan and he wanted to take some people out with him
He was an amoral conman, but he was an amoral conman who thought he had fricking plot armor. They literally had multiple close calls with the thing already and at no point did he think "maybe I should add some safety features back on"

A dead whale that sank to the bottom of the ocean. Because food at the ocean floor is so rare, whenever a whale falls down there it acts as a gigantic meal for dozens of different species. Even the bones get picked clean of their marrow.

fish dont eat people as a matter of fact most are downright fond of humans. you watch too many movies. ask any scientist and you are a thousand times more likely to die on land than you are in the ocean bro.
They must associate it with you. Overall they are very good as understanding what is a source of sustenance or just resources in general. One of their only functions. They most likely recognize you as a huge animal so you are either a threat or exist pretty much outside of their scope of existence.
didn't stuff come out that she doesn't really eat all of the stuff claimed in the videos, like the cuts were hiding them removing food and she just pretends to eat all of it?
Chinese people propagating this cringe humor shit that TikTok is becoming "popular" from is literally the worst shit thats happened since Vine made being a dumbass profitable.
The Vortex Larvae in Atlantis were scarier >wtf is that >unholy sound and eyes light up, lunges and bearhugs you to death >have to follow them to progress
I read that it's because a single female orca got cut up by a propeller. She's been teaching others to destroy the boats since. Some males may also be doing it to impress her.
orcas are matriarchs so it’s the females teaching all the younger generations
if the propeller thing is true then it should be one group doing all the rammings since each orca pod has different methods of hunting from different passed down knowledge
Brine pool, super salty, enough to cause creatures to go into shock and spasm if they make enough contact, which can lead to them sinking back into it and dying.
Brine pool, super salty, enough to cause creatures to go into shock and spasm if they make enough contact, which can lead to them sinking back into it and dying.
Fun fact to the people mentioning the Titan imploding and pasting them! If it did implode, it wouldn't "paste" them in the manner you're thinking of. A sub implosion is so fricking fast (less than 40 milliseconds) that the sheer speed of it would cause them to combust, literally vaporize. There wouldn't be enough of them to even identify as debris or paste.
Bones would definitely survive in some form. Certainly not something recognizable as a skeleton but the proportions of constituents per cubic millimetre should be the same in the densest parts.
Nah, they'd be paste. It's a wall of water moving at mach 1, enough to shatter bones but not enough to actually render it unrecognizable as the mass of watery gore that it would become. It'd basically have the same result as if you did the reverse, launching a human at a solid steel wall at 400m/s.
So either paste or fine red mist, but still recognizable as organic remains.
You now remember the one guy that was doing some deep sea diving and ended up using too much oxygen so he couldn't use the fast ascension mechanism and got stuck down there.
Five well-to-do men are sealed into an experimental submersible. The entire system is controlled by obsolete video game hardware that has just gone offline. They have three days worth of oxygen. They were on their way to visit the site of one of humanity's greatest tragedies but now, with communication cut, they are about to enter... The Twilight Zone.

Death in the water was cool in the beginning but then it became some kind of underwater racing shit. Atmosphere was not bad, but the gameplay was killing it
The original Stasis was the most bleak game I've ever played. Bleak to the point where you feel like the game is just trying its hardest to be edgy, trying to up every horrific occurrence with an even worse one.
I used to be friends with that artist. He started dating a leftist chick that was afraid Trump was going to literally put gay people in cages and kill them. Then he became an insufferable leftist homosexual, sucked a dick when he was drunk, and complains that Republicans are the biggest problem in the world every day. He's such a stupid homosexual I had to block him and stop being friends with him. Konstad you fat red headed ginger homosexual.
>Iron Lung movie releases >Mark Fishback gets shoved into the titular submarine >shrieks and screams at the faintest of noises for 50 minutes >submarine bumbs into something >takes picture >it's the oceangate wreckage >soïfaces and points at the screen >"WAS THAT THE WRECK OF 23?!"
>Uhhhhhhh hey Set, so in all of these ultra-secret vaults where you're hoarding society-changing inventions, I've noticed most stuff in here is some kinda weapon. Like this death-laser amp I just grabbed, the spinning steel cable city-destroyer, and this ancient Iron Man exosuit, even your concrete gives people TB if the mixture is off. What were you guys planning to do with this anyway if you didn't lock it up?
Why is there so much water on earth? When God designed the planet why didnt he make it so all regions had physical land between them instead of just putting loads of pointless sea?
Barotrauma, don't look at nothing that spoils the game, maybe just items but don't search for enemies or anything like that.
If possible, play with friends and not with randoms unless you find a serious group.
>play with friends
next
I'm lucky because I played it with a big group of friends that took the game seriously (between 4 to 8 players at the same time) we played it on hard.
The last levels were an awesome experience, at that time we were 5 players and it was scary as frick, no one spoiled the game and the moment we discovered the final boss we just stood there in silence. We lost a few soldiers in the fight but we beated the game together. 10/10 best co-op horror experience.

Wish I had game bros that didn't have the attentions spans of toddlers and share the same interests.
Same, bro
Shit me too
Same but instead of short attention spans they play nothing but fricking League of Legends.
You in college, when I was people played that shit and got me into that shit for a year. That was a waste of my life I'm never getting back
Can't wait for the titan barotrauma mods.
Barotrauma is the only good one I know actually in the water, but there's hidden Hidden Deep which is set underground below the sea and is pretty alright
What do you mean can't wait it's out already

Is this playable with 2 more friends? Is 3 enough?
yes, even if you just have one other friend you can justload up the ship with some bots and frick around
>play with friends
Impossible.
>play with-
Nope. Never playing it.
Can i pirate it? Not giving money to the devs or steam after they took this down
i don't see the point of pirating this game. the whole point is the multiplayer interaction. It'd be like pirating gmod, a game thats basically multiplayer central.
>the whole point is the multiplayer interaction
what a waste. lost all interest in playing.
i still see it in the workshop, maybe you're moronic?

Iron Lung. Its only 30 min but it costs like 5 bucks.
Same here. Garbage like this is why I won't jump into random indie games anymore, no matter how highly rated they are.
>since it was made by the guy who made DUSK
every other game david makes is a shitty low-effort-but-cool-idea timewaster with a jumpscare ending.
brainlet hours.
Subnautica
Let's discuss OceanGate. Did they meet Cthulhu?
They have a little over 90 minutes left until they’re out of oxygen, and that’s assuming they didn’t waste any of it by panicking
Is it ogre?
I hope they get rescued but it's starting to seem like it's too late.
>i hope a bunch of millionaires that willingly got on a bootleg sub built by a techbro to profanate a mass grave for tourism get rescued
I wish that cheap coffin had more capacity
As much as I despise the rich, these particular ones have done for humanity than you ever will. Plus people dying isn't usually cool unless you're an edgetard
>these particular ones have done for humanity than you ever will
true, i weep i'll never be abkle to exploit the working class as much as they did
the frick is with these commietard posts on Ganker lately?
did you troons escape from somewhere?
>reeeeee no you MUST suck the wiener of billionaires who actively come up with new ways to make you their slaves or you're a COMMIE
Why are burgers like this?
Cause working class Blacks will always have a much worse impact on you than even the most evil billionaire.
Class warfare is for israelites and white homosexuals.
its not just Ganker, ever since yesterday theres been slews of awkward class-war memes about the sub and dead billionaires.
Bro? /misc/ and twitter are cheering the same thing for similar reasons lol.
/misc/ has the CEO saying he didn't want to hire whites and that they're rich and ruin society thing to go off of. Twitter lefties just hate billionaires in general
yeah they've done more for humanity than i ever will, such as dying as a billionaire lmfao
No they haven't. Also, it is a good thing when evil people die. Good people don't go on ego-filled trips to the wreck of a disaster.
>these particular ones have done for humanity than you ever will
I have single-handedly done more for humanity by not being a billionaire.
You really think the token shit they've done offsets the damage they've done to the environment, society and the individual in the process of getting rich?
Fricking moronic lmao, just fricking imagine someone genuinely believing someone who goes into space for fun is anything but better dead.
>mimimi but he planted trees and gave little pittances of munni to orphanages
lmao
lol
I can just tell by reading this post that you’re an edgy soulless gay who will never do anything important in their life. You will remain a victim in your mind forever
>I hope they get rescued
I wouldn't hold my breath.
Chances are they’ve been dead since they cut contact. Sorry
That shit imploded, and they got turned into strawberry preserves days ago.
When a sub implodes at that depth, would it be instant death or slow (as in a few dozen of seconds)?
Instant
Every 10 metres is roughly +1 atmosphere. They were at 4000 metres.
If they have any nautical know how they should have killed each themselves to give the 19 year old more oxygen.
>it was all just a well calculated endeavor for the Pakis to bump off European innovators in deep sea exploration so they could take over
They draw lots. Always draw lots.
And leave him sitting in a pile of rotting corpses in an airtight capsule for a few extra days while he slowly dies of dehydration instead of hypoxia.
Even if, hypothetically, they could rescue him by that point, I genuinely don't think there's be anything left upstairs, since that is such a macabre scenario that I doubt there's anybody who wouldn't be broken by it.
the thought of a humanoid of that size just chilling underwater is kinda comical tbh, granted I'd still shit myself if I was in that sub

I remember when Ganker used to have deep sea/ deep ocean threads.
Then the mods killed them because they're off topic
Then they gave up trying to enforce anything
No they didn't. Make one and watch it get 404. They hate you and your offtopic thread.
theres not much in terms of vidya that you can discuss

Jobbers of the sea?
Only homosexuals like parasites, bacteria and especially viruses truly won.
Crabs and crustaceans can't get big enough for a shell like that to really protect them from larger threats. Even the immortal lobster is a myth since at a certain point the lobster cannot survive the molting process. Crustaceans are forever stuck on the midcard.

Like the sea critters, duh. I meant Bogdanoffs in that post.
huh curious lil guy
the chad fish could probably eat the shell no problem

This design is great for an enemy in a video game. Bright center weak point and starts out semi camouflaged.

I think it's either some jellyfish relative or some cephalopod.
That's a Ctenophora, they are deep sea invertebrates known for the LED-like lights they emit.
Not much is known about them and very few species of them are catalogued.
Seems like the one in that webm got caught in a water current since they aren't don't move quickly.

PRESSURE
its a first-person underwater disaster/survival horror simulation that released in 2010. We used to talk about it all the time here.
it sucks that this game is impossible to find now but you can get its sequel/spinoff on steam called narcosis.
if you're interested in the plot you can still find the tie-in novel trilogy for the pressure game written by alex beyman. and the tie-in novel for narcosis called "surviving oceanova" also written by alex beyman.
>is impossible to find now
>is now lost media
So no torrents have survived whatsoever? How is this possible?
>Ganker gaslighting me again that something cool exists while it doesn't

water womb world is cool, free and lasts 10 min
surprised someone mentioned it, here's the link
https://pantagruel.itch.io/water-womb-world
the 2010 game pressure is now lost media but you can get its spinoff sequel narcosis on steam, xbox, and playstation. and the tie-in ebook novels for both pressure and narcosis are less than a dollar on amazon.
i wish they would remake pressure it was such a good game. we had some wild threads about it back in the day.
I miss Pressure threads. It was such a novel idea when it was first doing the rounds that came up with mechanics before they were actually realised in games. Still waiting for a single game to have all of them in one package.
https://web.archive.org/web/20160601200830/http://undertowgames.com/barotrauma/
on their old website undertow games said that barotrauma is based on both ss13 and pressure.
I always pictured pressure as first-person in my head
glad you agree, friend!
is this a meme of a game that never existed? I can't find any evidence of this game even existing
it was real but no fricker even played it
it was just one of those games I saw once and thought "oh neat I'll have to try it sometime"
then a few months later it was fricking nowhere to be found, then someone made that dumb meme copypasta as an epic troll so now 10 years later nobody thinks it was ever real in the first place
Shut the frick up. It was never real.
you're probably right...
unless someone had made a game based on pressure, called pressure, before the pressure copypasta was even posted
don't get me wrong, it looked nowhere near as good as everyone thinks it is
if anyone managed to dig it up it would be a massive disappointment probably
GUYS I FOUND IT!!!!
It's literally just SS13 larpers imagining their game but underwater
You fricks realize just adding convoluted details to a story doesnt make it more believable right?
Lol. It's almost like you can smell the summer Ganker through the screen.
Shhh. He's 14. Don't be hard on him.
its real and it was a 10/10 indie survival horror game made by dev anons on Ganker after many brainstorming threads. there were only 3 playable builds actually made. pressure: first encounter, pressure: dark corners, and pressure: beautiful corpse. they were hosted on the old megaupload and were distributed here but that file host is gone and so are the thread archives. we had a guy in the threads that went by "horror anonbro" writing the narrative for the whole thing after a thread consensus that he could write the best out of most of us. later he was revealed to be a guy named alex bayman who used to write blogs about lake diving in a surface supplied dive helmet while tripping on hallucinagens. alex ended up publishing his pressure game stories as ebooks on amazon. then he got hired as a consultant and writer for the professionally published game narcosis which he also wrote a book for.
right back at ya buddy
this is wrong though - it was just some ancient AGDGgay shilling his game in threads that never stayed up long because it was literally the same tier as this
I refused to download anything until there was more discussion, or it looked less dodgy, as at the time I was shitscared of *le epic 4chin anonymous hacker virus lostboy.exe" or dolphin porn or some shit.
There were never any "brainstorming threads" until after the original pressure disappeared. Some anons brought it up later on, and it sparked everyone's imaginations to go wild with what it could be like.
It was before notch used to post here so that's the sort of timeframe you're looking at.
>or dolphin porn
Why would you be scared of that?
It was a pretty big file, downloading it with the connections we had back then was slow, and the disappointment from realizing you wasted so much bandwidth downloading something you already had was immeasurable.
>a 2010 game is now lost media
Wut? How?
I'm looking forward to Full Fathom
bobbit worms arent scary. theyre disgusting and wierd but not particularly scary. that thing doesnt even look like it has the equipment to properly eat you or prey on you.

I really really enjoy the threads that have you add random game HUD shit to some random picture too
>stealth game in a big house
?t=297
Holy mother of kino
I don't have the cap, but it was called like 180 or something like that. The gist was the player wakes up and goes about their normal morning routine, and three hours later a nuke blows up the town and the day resets. So the player'd have a three-hour window to identify the location of the bomb, who's setting it off, and figure out a plan to stop them. If the bomb went off or the player died, got knocked out, arrested, etc. everything would reset and the only thing the player could take with them between loops would be information (ex. the blast is coming from the northwest part of town, the sheriff keeps a backup weapon in his passenger seat, the gas station on 7th and Elm is robbed at 7:23 and if no one intervenes the teller is shot, etc.)
>he keeps falling for it
Anon, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.
The Titan met the Reapers

The only pic ever taken of Venus' surface.
mmhmm sure it is
It is, only the Soviets were autistic enough to keep sending hundred million worth probes into Venus until it worked, and even then it only worked for 40 minutes.

>mfw a 3rd worlder attempts to have an opinion
I'll never stop laughing at how all those SpaceX rocket launches keep shooting debris in the direction of Hispanic shanty towns.
It's a soviet Venus probe. It managed to land and take those pictures before the pressure and high temperature crushed and reduced it to slag.
A bunch of absolutely moronic rich people pioneering a novel way to commit suicide, while tapping into some very common fears (thalassophobia and claustrophobia) is bound to generate some morbid curiosity.
Because it's funny
Because it's funny to laugh at the stupidity of those involved in that sub.
The absurdity of the situation
1. It's a distraction from the dull 24/7 media crap about Trump, Ukraine War, Inflation, 2024 election, etc.
2. It's related to the Titanic, a 100 year old famous wreck
3. It's kinda funny because they showed it on the news half a year ago and the red lights were all there
4. The fricking $40 Bluetooth PC gaming controller
5. The FRICKING CONSTRUCTION PIPES AS BALLAST
6. The Waiver that mentions death three times on page one and the rest is how it's totally not safe and dubiously sea worthy, but sign anyway for $250,000
7. The rich people that also signed up to die of implosion a mile away from Titanic.
8. The media shit show that's going to occur at the company's feet for this goof.

The thing that baffles me most is the $250k price point for a trip. I doubt the sub even costs more than $50k, if the piloting system is a fricking USB game pad
hubris is a hell of a drug anon
No sympathy, no empathy, this shit is the 2023 Darwin Award winner.
A 2023 Darwin Award winner. The year isn't over yet.
Also carbon fiber is a fricking stupid material to make a submarine out of
Dude built himself a coffin and managed to con idiots into paying him money to follow him to the afterlife
Don't forget not hiring 50 year old white ex military submariners because they aren't inspiring enough
tbh a lot of "diversity hires" are more because minorities are way cheaper cause rights or whatever. classic cost cutting.
also he wanted young people too cause they're also cheaper.
why do you morons keep parroting this? homosexual was a GOP donor, not some woke crusader. He wanted to save money and not have some experienced old salt tell him his sub was gay and moronic, simple as.
Frick off with your 'muh team' politics shit
Right side, bill gates confirmed dead
Ganker is misconstruing their diversity hires- they hired young, inexperienced people to work on the sub to breathe new life into the industry. Naturally, a team of noobs knows frick-all and fricks up. In a normal company, this is where the older more experienced employees or safety officers would step in.
Remember, diversity doesn't just mean skin color. They hired a diverse array of young promising workers with diverse skillsets
Actually I think it's because the dude's a daredevil with a TITANIC amount of hubris. Not "MUH WOKE" shit that you're trying to peddle.
It's just a stupid rich person who made a tin can with construction pipes and a GAMING CONTROLLER.
If the safety person was a trans black Californian that outcome would have been THE EXACT FRICKING SAME.
Dude just didn't want to be told "no". So shut your fricking pie hole Black person.
>Debris found down by the Titanic
it's ogre
Black person there's miles of debris down by the Titanic. It's a shipwreck.

It’s a really cool sequence of it catches you off guard though.
at first I though this was a pissed off hippo or someshit and that this guy was totally fricked. webms of people in kayaks is always nightmare fuel.
I thought Hammerhead Shark is friendly? Pretty sure that guy started first
the ancient magic of Rahab is corrupting the local sea creatures and making them turn upon man. we need brave heroes to venture deep into the ocean to seal him away again.
plus if you join the program you get college credit
>abandoned surfboard to an octopus
KWAB
What was it going to do, ink him?
go ask any japanese mahou shoujo how dangerous they can really be.
Octopi have beaks, I imagine they could take out a chunk of flesh
An octopus beak could pretty badly injure him if it wanted to.
>has crushing beak
>every tentacle sucker are lined with teeth/spurs
no thanks
That's not an octopus, it's a squid. The only squids of that size are Humboldt squids- which are also the only squids known to both attack and kill humans.
>Humboldt squids- which are also the only squids known to both attack and kill humans.
Why are they like that.
is that a ocean hunter reference
>look this up
>unlocks memories from when i was 9 years old
neat
what are you talking about?
All sharks won't actually choose human for a snack if they have something more familiar to rip apart. It's just that their eyesight is shit.
>fishing in a kayak
For what purpose.
I loved fighting Lagiacrus underwater tbh. the underwater fights were so piss easy compared to the surface fights.
I think it was because there were very few annoying ADD's like Vespids or the mini raptors. the only underwater fight I loathed doing was the final mission where you body Cephalus because its just a huge damage soak/DPS test thats not actually dangerous.
>seaman
>Noooooo you have to feel bad when stupid people do stupid things for stupid reasons and kill themselves!!!!
lol
lmao
That's not even it, its the fact that everybody was pretending to me moral and having principles and they all went out the window in a span of 12 hours. Shit doesn't even last a day anymore.
Irreverence is the only shelter we have left from the ongoing horrors that take place on a daily basis, the interminable monstrousness we are forced to impotently witness.
Better to laugh at the world than to torment yourself.
>that hand
So tired of AI art threads.
I thought pressure was a fake game like the king of the hill online threads, you gays are telling me it was real?
what if I told you
Nta but wtf is this? This shit looks like fun
I know this garbage is real but didn't know triple Eds had an online game.
fake mock up of "the ed edd n eddy mmo" which was a meme back when this board was less of a shithole
I have no sympathy for him at all, he's the John Hammond of submersible exploration
>says he spared no expense
>actually spared every expense

Thread theme:
what the frick are they eating? What was God thinking when he made these, frick the ocean never ever again.
A dead whale that sank to the bottom of the ocean. Because food at the ocean floor is so rare, whenever a whale falls down there it acts as a gigantic meal for dozens of different species. Even the bones get picked clean of their marrow.
Meant to post this link, but forgot: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whale_fall?useskin=vector
looks like a carcass of a small toothed whale breed
>What was God thinking when he made these
The ocean is where God banished all his mistakes and failures.
thats a bit rude. I believe Human beings and Fish can co-exist peacefully.
what the frick were they thinking with that ending?
>what the frick were they thinking with that ending?
"Alien was a cool movie"
I'm sure they never had an incident, but just the thought of that guy being able to chomp her and drag her down in a second would make me never let my kids do that
Beluga whales are cute
Beluga whales are such silly looking things.
Alright. The fact that it closes it's eyes when it kisses her head is the most adorable shit I've seen a creature do. That's gotta be learned/observed behavior, right?
No, that's Ganker.
True, but Ganker wasn't the first either.
Sure, that's why those sharks live 400 years.
>The oldest of the animals sampled, which was also the largest, had lived for 392 ± 120 years, and was consequently born between 1504 and 1744. The authors further concluded that the species reaches sexual maturity at about 150 years of age.
imagine fricking something 100 years old and it makes you a shark pedo
No, it's where he banished all the shit he realized was too fricking scary and fricked up for land.
>HOLY FRICK, GABRIEL, WHAT THE FRICK IS THAT!?
It's a starfish
>THAT'S A STARFISH!? OH FRICK! THIS ISN'T WHAT I WANTED AT ALL!!
You said it was fine
>IT'S BARFING UP ITS OWN STOMACH, GABRIEL! IT'S BARFING UP ITS OWN STOMACH AND FORCING IT INTO AN ANIMAL SO IT CAN DIGEST IT FROM THE INSIDE OUT, GABRIEL! THE IS NOT WHAT WE FRICKING DISCUSSED! THROW IT IN THE OCEAN!
But--
>THE OCEAN, GABRIEL! DID I FRICKING STUTTER!?
No.
>GOOD. AND DO *NOT* TELL ADAM ABOUT THIS, GABRIEL!
Imagine if there were giant land starfish though.
scandis look at this and go
>Mhmm floating undead piss tube
kek love how the titan going missing has got alot of Ganker into barotraume. very kino game if you're into TTT, or SS13
i look like this and do this
>'tis but a scratch!
>chomp-chomp-chomp
>burp
>now you're next
fish dont eat people as a matter of fact most are downright fond of humans. you watch too many movies. ask any scientist and you are a thousand times more likely to die on land than you are in the ocean bro.
t.
about as cuddly as a puppy and dont mind being handled
Look, he's smiling!
>heroic pitbull becomes aquatic to have his distant descendant bite a toddler
Cute, sharks actually don't like human meat
they don't like the amount of bones we have
doesn't stop them from taking a nibble just to identify what the frick you are though
Yeah, most of the accidents with them it is because of this.
This, stop the sharkphobia.
>DUDE
>SEAWEED
>When they see a human unattended
Cute 🙂
why is he wearing chainmail
Because he's dealing with a shark.
only a moron would wear anything white that resembles fish flesh
you either wear complete black or nothing at all when meeting sharks
yeah yeah, you surely know better than a seasoned diver that is accustomed to dealing with sharks. Fricking moron
>automatically give it some head-scritches
Do Octopi even have grooming?
Octopuses are so fricking cool.
True.
I just hear the Goron rev-up sound from Majora's Mask.
standard issue for shark handlers
turns out it works pretty well against a bunch of knives
underwater knight orders are fighting over Atlantis for millenia now
underwater Black folk
Nanny fish
sharks spit out human
Except tiger sharks they will eat anything
They are some of the chillest sharks, you're thinking of great whites.
It's kind of intimidating how it kept following him.
Try feeding a dog, a cat, a bird, a fricking ant and you'll get the same.
I've never had ants follow me after feeding them actually.
i`d never had to, little frickers find a way inside the kitchen and get the food themselfs -.-
They must associate it with you. Overall they are very good as understanding what is a source of sustenance or just resources in general. One of their only functions. They most likely recognize you as a huge animal so you are either a threat or exist pretty much outside of their scope of existence.
I hate bugwomen so much it's unreal
dumb fricking prostitute
chaina namba wan
frick asians
lmao when the shark pursues her on the ground.
Why is this asian b***h torturing a small shark?
What is she suppossed to do? Torture an adult shark? There won't be any penis growth powder out of that.
It's her gimmick. She freaks about and follows up by eating it.
didn't stuff come out that she doesn't really eat all of the stuff claimed in the videos, like the cuts were hiding them removing food and she just pretends to eat all of it?
I wouldn't be surprised.
Chinks don't need a reason to torture animals.
Chinese people propagating this cringe humor shit that TikTok is becoming "popular" from is literally the worst shit thats happened since Vine made being a dumbass profitable.
>I ENTERED A THREAD FULL OF THINGS THAT I HATE AND NOW I'M UPSET, HOW COULD THIS BE HAPPENING TO ME?
I hate chinks so much
the white one is dying and down there you can't be picky.
billionaire faked his death to live in rapture
Ecco the motherfricking Dolphin.
The Vortex Larvae in Atlantis were scarier
>wtf is that
>unholy sound and eyes light up, lunges and bearhugs you to death
>have to follow them to progress
>after thousands of years without incident and coexistence, orcas are finally starting to attack humans
We are a frick up of a species.
I read that it's because a single female orca got cut up by a propeller. She's been teaching others to destroy the boats since. Some males may also be doing it to impress her.
>male orcas trying to impress their scarred waifu by attacking her enemies
romantic
>woman walks into danger
>gets mad and lashes out, dooming species to extermination
Fricking typical w*man
>males simp for her anyways
They’re so like us…
orcas are matriarchs so it’s the females teaching all the younger generations
if the propeller thing is true then it should be one group doing all the rammings since each orca pod has different methods of hunting from different passed down knowledge
There have been attacks separated by thousands of miles. Can't be the same pod.
They're probably all sharing info with each other, passing on the idea of attacking us.
>rise of the planet of the orcas
kino
Nice try snips, but watch as I attack your weak points for massive damage!
I love games where you can swim around
wtf is this?
Brine pool, super salty, enough to cause creatures to go into shock and spasm if they make enough contact, which can lead to them sinking back into it and dying.
>Brine
oh fug, it's real?
ITSUNOOOO
little fella did alright
Fricking brutal place the ocean
>visiting Ganker
>mfw when I look at what he can do
Fun fact to the people mentioning the Titan imploding and pasting them! If it did implode, it wouldn't "paste" them in the manner you're thinking of. A sub implosion is so fricking fast (less than 40 milliseconds) that the sheer speed of it would cause them to combust, literally vaporize. There wouldn't be enough of them to even identify as debris or paste.
I think you're thinking of explosive DEcompression. Wouldn't apply here.
Both cause vaporization, but for an implosion, it takes absurd depths for that to occur. Such as the ones the Titan was diving to.
You talking about that russian or whatever guy, red light at the end of the video? That shit was grim
Yeah, I just found him, he's called Yuri Lipski.
Or the three Pearl Harbor sailors stuck in a sunken West Virginia running out of air for 16 days in complete darkness
https://neal.fun/deep-sea/?fbclid=IwAR2duPJjdrQ-UTgjT-CZu3jbWfNTy2ixyeDFQ2oMXjcoI2kDQbmHHkMIulg
10/10
Hey frick you, the F710 is great, only problem is the rubbery pads, they are hard to clean.
Read it in his voice.
Will they ever return?
animal threads are the best threads on Ganker
Team now presumed dead. RIP in peace.
at least they went by implosion
Nah, they got isekai'd
We'll never find the submarine because it was stolen away to a different dimension
Where they won't need eyes to see?
Isekai'd to the subnautica universe
All dead lmao
>that
>scary
How quaint.
>Event Horizon
>scary
10/10 for idea
3/10 for execution
for idea
That's all that really matters. As long as execution doesn't get in the way of the viewer getting the idea. And here it doesn't.
execution absolutely matters
>used to think this movie was the height of horror when I first watched it
>a friend recently watched it on his own and told me it fricked him up
>right before that, me and another friend rewatched it and I was horrified to learn that it doesn't really hold up one hundred percent
Absolute kino idea, though. Shame they had to neuter the movie by censoring the hell orgy.
IS THAT A
Death in the water was cool in the beginning but then it became some kind of underwater racing shit. Atmosphere was not bad, but the gameplay was killing it
Subnautica slowly evolves from "Beautiful exploration survival game" to "Holy fricking shit what was that sound?" very quickly.
anyone want nightmares tonight
here you go
Soma, and seconding Stasis Bone Totem. Not a fan of point and clickers but it was so damn good I finished it in three days.
Welp, I'm sad now.
>food analogy
The original Stasis was the most bleak game I've ever played. Bleak to the point where you feel like the game is just trying its hardest to be edgy, trying to up every horrific occurrence with an even worse one.
Ah, the Elfen Lied effect.
Well he has baleeted all of his horror art from Artstation and now works at Netflix, so I believe you.
>Underwater horror game thread

Number two: On that very same day, Wuhan Airlines Flight 343 is hit by lightning and crashes into Wuhan's Hanyang District, killing 49 people
such a good level.
>crashes into Wuhan's Hanyang District, killing 49 people

the fact that nobody has mentioned tomb raider yet says alot about society...and Ganker
Someone remember the Leviathan Level in Mass Effect 3?
Bioware really wanted Shep to be Sisko in ME3
I never played ME3. I heard it was crap and preferred to just leave Commander Reginald Shepard and his crew in narrative limbo.
I played it in the legendary edition and thought it was fine, even if the ending really did come down to push three buttons.

What were you guys planning to do with this anyway if you didn't lock it up?
>nuWolf actually creates an ancient israeli conspiracy where they're hording superweapons in a secret society
What did they mean by this?
I honestly wonder what the hell the writers were smoking then they came up with that particular plot thread.
>creates unholy alchemy capable of massive mutations or a plague if mishandled
>refuses to elaborate
>How do we give our Nazis the power to win the way that makes some sense without it feeling asspully?
>...AH FRICK IT, israeli SCIENCE CULT THINGY!
>if you didn't lock it up?
But they did, Shimshon.
Why is there so much water on earth? When God designed the planet why didnt he make it so all regions had physical land between them instead of just putting loads of pointless sea?
He did. Pangaea was (or at least, is theorized to have been) a thing. Then it broke apart because tectonic drift is a b***h.
>Then it broke apart because tectonic drift is a b***h.
god kinda sucks at his job huh

If these can find another one to mate in such vast and empty ocean floor then not all hope is lost for me

This starfish didn't fall, constable... he was pushed.

Yes, it's murder.

What a bro.
Nah, that hole is his home, he just saw the starfish trying to get in and moved it elsewhere.
