>possibilities are practically limitless now and graphics are lifelike
>artistic potential of the medium is still mostly unexplored
What is up with this? We have a medium here where at this point pretty much everything is possible, and we're still just making nothing but bing bing wahoo shooty man dopamine chaser shit.

This but it also got hijacked by politics. Don't expect creativity when companies have to adhere to literal skull measuring practices or DEI/ESG shit. Old vidya was made in a metriocracy NuMedia cares more about how brown the hands making it are, the end result is we get literal shit produced by people that would fail if the system didn't constantly allow them to fail upwards/prop them up.

Because it is a commercial medium filled with products designed with the purpose of making billionaires slightly richer.
There have been people making experimental art games for decades. Maybe play those instead.
Something designed to be accessible by everyone is never going to be art.

Probably because they're fun? We get it, you don't like those games but thankfully there are many others that you can try and see what tickles your fancy. You can even start making your own games now with today's tools.

cinema only entered its golden age in the 1950s, about 60 years after motion pictures were invented
    >inb4 what the frick do you mean
cinema didn't become good enough to be relevant until the end of the 1910s. At that point it entered some sort of pseudo-gold-age which was fueled purely by the fact that because there was no sound the visual capabilities of movies were pushed forward insanely fast
Then sound movies happened and the great depression happened and WWII happened and it was one long conga line of cashgrab flicks and stage play movies with a few anomalous gems here and there. Cinema only returned to perfecting itself as a visual medium in the late 1940s

so I would say we just need to relax. Maybe there's a golden age ten years from now

Alot if cool games end up unfinished due to corporate meddling, time constraints, and budget issues. Ff12 is a good example of this. Someone left halfway through development. Xenogears is another.

PC games stopped being made once console games shifted over to PC. Consoletards and games made by/for consoletards will never be art in any meaningful way.
