Games where you can start a family?
This one's interesting because the entire monetary system they stapled to it only exists to do so, and having a family doesn't actually do anything. It's just something to look at.

Dragon Quest V immediately jumps to mind. The game starts off with the MC being born and his journey throughout the game goes on long enough for him to eventually marry and have his own child.
>hero grows mustache
>immediately becomes OLD GEEZER
That's the MC's dad, not the MC. The true hero is your son which is neat
I always liked it when games let you do this. On my tiny TV I had as a kid I would always end up accidentally picking the fat chick.
As far as other games, Harvest Moon comes to mind. Dragon Quest V and Phantasy Star III let you pick your wife and it effects how your kids play.
Is Congo supposed to be their grandfather or something? Or the picture was just a nod to the second game?
Both, probably. Congo was the original human evolved from monkeys in-universe, after all.
The sims
Wait, you can grill babies in The Sims? Doesn't that just make it the best game of all time by default?
No, but you can wall people off until they starve to death. It's a nice way to get rid of undesirables.
There be mods!!!! Ohh it's for the sims 2 it's omgwtfbbq

Let's take it a step further: recommend me games where I can start a family with my sister
This is why I feel so sorry for kids raised in a single child household. Big families give you better immersive balance.
Kagero -Deception 2
not legit
more games
what's some legit sisterludo then
Fire Emblem Sacred Stones doesn't go that far (on-screen anyway)
i need moar
None that I can think of but this one has implications of such relations.
NEEEEEEEEEEEED
GTA3 has an npc that yells "Ma Mother's Ma Sister" so that kinda counts.
The new word for sibling incest is "delphic" from Greek "philadelphia" meaning "loving one from the same womb"
>Greek "philadelphia" meaning "loving one from the same womb"
>City of Brotherly Love
Just head-slapping moments.
And it ain't even legal in Pennsylvania... That's why Ohio is for lovers!
Not retro
I only know non-retro ones
Alright, hit me
🙁
Harvest moon series. Game gives a true unattainable dream:
Leaving the city to live on a farm (you now own) in a small village (where everybody knows each other and is friends), with your wife and children.
Harvest Moon lets you get married, but in The Sims you can actually have and raise kids all the way up through adulthood and go through generations etc.
not in the first one
They should have made an RPG game where you get various options of different women to marry.
then when you think you beat the game it jumps ahead a few decades and you play as your first characters son
(who would have different characteristics depending on who married in the first half of the game)
Then you go back in time and frick yourself and become your own dad
fire emblem genealogy of the holy war and, to a lesser degree, fire emblem awakening do this to a limited extent
thanks for the heads up.
What the other anon said, you are asking for Genealogy of the Holy War. Although it's not "you", you pair up all the women with men of your choice.
One of the Agarest Senki sequels is a lot like this.
You just described Saga Frontier 2.
Phantasy Star III does exactly that. You get different paths through the stories with different characters depending on who your kid is. Like if you marry the magic chick you'll have a son who's good with magic. I'd like to see it expanded on more.
I've done this in one or two Koei war games, and there are probably lots more I haven't played that simulate your character's family. I imagine there are other old war games that do this too; certainly there are non-old ones that do.
Harvest Moon.
