Cyberpunk 2020, quintessentially late 80s early 90s
Another candidate is World of Darkness, particularly 1st and 2nd edition. Revised came out at the end of the decade and imho was already dabbled in what was to become 2000s feel and aesthetics (being artsygays they were always in the vanguard) but oh boy 90s VtM stuff was awesome, not everything was great but you had such great stuff too (imho)
could be, I still love the art.
White Wolf was heavily influenced by the late 80s vampire fad movies, Near Dark is cited as the origin of Sabbat, The Lost Boys as origin of Brujah. Anne Rice novels for Ventrue and Toreador etc.
>games that look like shit
Have you checked the titles that were released in the 80s and 90s yet. This is the worst premise for a thread on the board right now.
Theres an ai thread at the top of the catalogue at all times. Some moronic thread about sending an npc elf girl to get married being “the most disgusting thing to happen in game,” a moronic “drow have sex amirite” thread, and a “lets make noun-punk a genre!!” thread, but you are going to get mad at a thread asking for a ttrpg to capture the feel of over the top 90s comics? Theres a 99% chance you are one of the moronic homosexuals posting the actual shitty threads on tg.
>“lets make noun-punk a genre!!” thread, but you are going to get mad
You're on /tg/, where nounpunk has been common for more than a decade, and you're getting mad.
Give it up, you will never make the next big genre and your ideas are moronic half baked concepts that have already been fleshed out decades ago.
The fact that you listed AI first makes your Luddite opinion irrelevant. It's seriously not that big of a deal.
Its an off topic thread that exists at all times at the top of the catalogue. The fact that you immediately jumped on the ai damage control is hilarious and sad. You are like a street shitter jumping at the mention on Elon. Tg is seriously shit because of morons like you.
>If you haven't read Battle Chasers, do it right now.
Just read Lanfeust of Troy instead. It's the better series. So many available fantasy series are better, Battle Chasers only stood out because it was released into a market that was starved for content that wasn't comics attached to variant covers.
Oh, that's easy. Here's a list of themes that need to be included in every session, the more, the better:
Crimes shall never be presented in such a way as to create sympathy for the criminal, to promote distrust of the forces of law and justice, or to inspire others with a desire to imitate criminals.
Scenes of excessive violence shall be prohibited. Scenes of brutal torture, excessive and unnecessary knife and gunplay, physical agony, the gory and gruesome crime shall be eliminated.
Criminals shall not be presented so as to be rendered glamorous or to occupy a position which creates a desire for emulation.
Policemen, judges, government officials, and respected institutions shall never be presented in such a way as to create disrespect for established authority.
All scenes of horror, excessive bloodshed, gory or gruesome crimes, depravity, lust, sadism, masochism shall not be permitted.
No comic magazine shall use the words "horror" or "terror" in its title.
All lurid, unsavory, gruesome illustrations shall be eliminated.
Inclusion of stories dealing with evil shall be used or shall be published only where the intent is to illustrate a moral issue and in no case shall evil be presented alluringly, nor so as to injure the sensibilities of the reader.
I have read stuff like Maximortal, Zot!, Ninja Turtles, Kingdom Come, Martha Washington, Strangers in Paradise ect.
I also read a lot of BDs and Disney comics back then, but OP is clearly asking for Image schlock and female main character series.
>OP is clearly asking for Image schlock
Which is why it's odd to keep bringing up the CCA.

It's the check list they refer to and it's the only aestetics you can refer to in a game, like how you can run a medieval game in the style of the Decamerone, but you can't run one in Botticelli Blue.
In every instance good shall triumph over evil and the criminal punished for his misdeeds.
If crime is depicted it shall be as a sordid and unpleasant activity.
Scenes dealing with, or instruments associated with walking dead, torture, vampires and vampirism, ghouls, cannibalism, and werewolfism are prohibited.
Profanity, obscenity, smut, vulgarity, or words or symbols which have acquired undesirable meanings are forbidden.
Females shall be drawn realistically without exaggeration of any physical qualities.
Suggestive and salacious illustration or suggestive posture is unacceptable.
Nudity with meretricious purpose and salacious postures shall not be permitted in the advertising of any product; clothed figures shall never be presented in such a way as to be offensive or contrary to good taste or morals.
Nudity in any form is prohibited, as is indecent or undue exposure.
Illicit sex relations are neither to be hinted at nor portrayed. Rape scenes, as well as sexual abnormalities, are unacceptable.
Sex perversion or any inference to same is strictly forbidden.
Seduction and rape shall never be shown or suggested.
Really, the IT-thing of the 90s was that companies stopped enforcing the Comic Code, but, considering that nobody involved in capeshit cared about comics as a medium, they countinued to use it as a touchstone and could only communicate their new state of liberty through the code's inversion.
>Policemen, judges, government officials, and respected institutions shall never be presented in such a way as to create disrespect for established authority.
You weren't alive in the 80s if you truly believe this mate.
>Crimes shall never be presented in such a way as to create sympathy for the criminal,

Yeah that list is ridiculous, what the frick
You clearly can read, now read the post chain to the end before you start posting.
Those edgy writers countinued to refered to the CC when they were being edgy by extremely specifically inversing its clauses. The CC, at that point, had been baked so deeply into their brains that they really couldn't imagine the genre without it.

homie how the frick does a game have an "aesthetic"
it's a tabletop game just fricking imagine whatever you want in your head
unless you just want an artbook posing as a rulebook?
Good post but you'd know if you were there zoomie. Back before the light got extinguished everything memorable was drenched in style and substance. There was plenty of trash but you can't even imagine a time where people, and I mean real people, were legitimately excited for twenty new movies and games a year, not to mention all the various shit for hobbies. Motherfricker new tech was falling off the vine every ten seconds, you wouldn't believe it.

Not him but I have no problem with the drow threads
This one in particular is just hornyposting. Not even good hornyposting.

Hey backseat janny you are welcome to go the frick back to wherever you belong and b***h there, how's that sound, israelite?

OP your post gave me severe flashback to Battle Chasers
i miss the early 2000s
God this looks awesome. League before League was a thing
Doesn't get more Image Comics than this.
If you haven't read Battle Chasers, do it right now.

Is the bloodpouch rpg a real thing that was printed? I can hardly find anything on it.
Holy shit Rob's art is so ugly
>Bloodp ouch
Joke's on you, that's just the cover artist.
Did they seriously make Red Monika's boobs smaller?? Trash.
Did the new comics ever come out? I backed the kickstarter but I don't think I ever got any notice of the books.
Just checked. Shit I guess they did. A while ago.
>published by Cliffhanger
>doesn’t get an ending until a decade later
The signs were there all along, your fault for not noticing earlier.
Yeah, I'm surprised people managed to hang in there, myself included. I mean Monika had some crazy breasts but still almost 20 goddamn years.
Eh. Calibretto’s breasts were canonically larger.

cont.
Image Comics was notable for NOT being CCA compliant.
The CCA is a list of required exclusion, which made it the basic b***h checklist for themes to be included in a 90s superhero-adjacent comic.
>the only superhero comics he read in the 90s were Marvel and DC
Too bad, Prime was a fun read. You should check it out.

Now I have to dig up the section on Rapeplaying advices to Storytellers in the Sabbat WoD book.

Man I really need to sit down with the Battle Chasers video game now.
