By that time it'll be irrelevant. Your "cool idea" will have been done infinitely better by someone with actual skills beyond being a useless idea guy.
You will never be a real artist.
You will never be a real programmer.
You will never be a real creative.
You're an idiot, ideas are unlimited and iterative.
If someone does my idea better I'll do their idea better, and I'll steal good ideas from a hundred other games as well until they call me an original.
>already coping about the AI meta
Your idea will be buried in a mountain of infinitely generated slop with everyone else's. That's the future you've chosen. You won't be recognized in your hypothetical future. In fact people probably won't even touch your game.
Have you considered you can make a game that is fun just for you? What's this zoomer obsession with being rich and famous? No wonder you're all deeply unhappy, you can't even make a model train set just for yourself, have to be able to market it to your TikTok senpai.

That's not even close to what I said. I suggested with a healthy mental mindset you'd be content making a game just for yourself that you found fun, it's irrelevant how many other people are doing the same thing. And if your game is sufficiently fun, it's going to be in the top 10% of games that are marketably viable. Your issue is you're killing something you'd do for fun because you're obsessed with external factors rather than your own leisure and wellbeing. Ironically you also forget that the majority of people are like you, YOU WILL NOT BE MAKING ANYTHING, AI OR NOT.
You have nothing meaningful to add, you're depressed and you achieve nothing. AI part of the discussion is irrelevant. You were a nihilist before AI.

You're not thinking about this in the right way at all anon. But that's okay. I don't actually foresee AI getting sophisticated enough to fulfill your moronic fantasies in your lifetime. Odds are you'll die unfulfilled and seething at people who put time and effort into making something.

What's with people using strawmen? I didn't say I was going to 100% rely on an AI. Just the AI doing everything up generating models is itself an insane amount of work. If I can use an AI to make all the assets that makes up a bedroom that's great. Even just using AI for mockups and mood boards is itself a way to move past the blank canvas problem. AI even right now, is like having a concept artist on tap that works for free.

Zoomoids are the ones that are the most obsessed with status. They're the ones falling for the sigma grindset meme even though it was literally a joke, a meme, a satire of corporate grind culture. They're the ones obsessed with hiding behind layers of irony exceeding even the most terminally online millenial's out of sheer, unbridled horror at the mere possibility that someone might find them cringe or disapprove of anything they like. They're the ones most inclined to publicly support things they may not actually believe in and mobbing anyone who steps out of line.
You’re thinking of these tools as a way for someone with no arms to become a carpenter. Those people won’t build shit.
It’s more like a carpenter using them to work as if they have eight arms.
>you've never had a cool idea that you wanted to see in a game but didn't have the technical expertise or time to do?
This is the big thing that AI in all fields basically solve. People will no longer need technical skills in order to realize their ideas and imagination.
>play AI generated Metroid Prime 4 >pretty fun except the sections you have to backtrack to keep changing >have to add negative prompts to prevent the game from melting into a shitty 2d platformer >switch to mental input >forget I have ice missiles >ice missiles stop existing >see high detail water >reflection more detailed than the rest of the game >aheago Samus stares back >sudden surge of horniness >game starts adjusting to new input >Samus starts to suck of alien dog >get scared that mom may walk in >some door in the space station suddenly opens >mom with h-sized breasts walks in >starts making out with Samus >game suddenly bugs out and a message appears >washed up Patreon logo appears >"get early access to new content"
>mishmash of disparate assets with clashing art direction and even technical quality, often just good enough and not what you actually envision for your game >these assets are also ones you see in other games, thus giving it the Unity Asset Store vibe, even subconsciously
AI generated art assets excel at both of these points.
You can't tell an AI 'create this attack with x frames then y recovery frames'
'angle it outwards'
'if the player gets in range transition to defense state'
sure, AI can assist a little, but only humans can create a new, fresh experience. AI only knows to program mario and flappy birds.
Yeah, not saying AI will replace humans, it will just make the tedious parts easier. The best games still require a human with a brain to determine when things are fun and feel right. But specifically for art assets, AI is great at that and most games are bottlenecked on the art asset pipeline, not programming.

>AI is gonna improve gaymes! >shows example of a downgrade
i hate "artists." the ones complaining are mostly low quality, deviantart-tier artists who pretend they are losing customers to AI. they never fricking had a customer base and are lashing out just so they can feel important
sure, make fun of ideas guys, but you never had a good idea in your life and your art reflects it; more soulless than AI with extreme pettiness thrown into it >become anti-human while being anti-AI
At some point you will realise the limit of your imagination is closely tied to the limit of your skills and idea guys have no skills. when AI outstrips your imagination you aren't creating anything, you are a mindless finger that presses a button to trigger a machine, a machine that everyone has access to and which outputs shit that everyone is perpetually bored of due to oversaturation.
Even with AI, Idea guys will be bored of their own creations because the flood of shitty games will always be above your head and you will always be outstripped by people who actually have the patience to learn fundamental skills and tools.
That's some weird artist cope. We've already seen segmentation within the AI community: prompt quality matters, you can refine prompts, you can even refine outputs (ie ControlNet, inpainting, etc), there is a ton of creative process within the use AI itself, AI is fundamentally a tool and there is a skillset. Even if you're strictly doing text prompts, a human is selectively choosing from potentially hundreds of outputs which one best matches what they want. There *is* a creative process.
They don't want dubiously sourced AI. If you trained an AI model from scratch using data you have the rights to then it's A-OK. But seriously though, if you converted a 2D image into a 3D model, that's transformative enough in any stretch of the imagination.
Because sourcing data and training an AI model is more or less automated. Programming scales infinitely. You literally make a model once and it works forever. Dalle-3 exists now and for every 10 hours someone spent training it, an artist now uses it in 30 seconds. The time savings get immense. It's like asking "why spend 2 hours rendering a single frame in a movie using software that has hundreds of programmers working on it when you can have an artist hand paint it". You're also ignoring the obvious benefits of AI such as emergent behavior, dynamism, etc. Using AI you can now spit 1000s of mood boards for a game idea in a couple minutes.
Except textures is somewhere AI will excel at. Especially a game studio which likely has tens of thousands of examples of seamless textures, you can finetune SDXL using them to basically have a large library of textures you can generate on the fly.
You have no say in whether my game has 3D assets made by AI or not. That's the difference between AI and NFTs. See this image, I can have it hanging up on the wall in my game. You don't have any say in it, I generated it in 5 seconds. It has immediate practical value.
>my game
What game Black person? You haven't done shit. You wont do shit.
Make your garbage AI game FIRST then you can be a smug condescending shitbag. Until then you're nothing but a bunch of hot air and empty promises scared of the toilet witch.
>All these people acting like AI being used for game development will bring about some sort of apocalyptic event where video games will completely die out because it'll result in a ton of shovelware/asset flips being made
Why do people keep repeating this? There's already millions of shovelware/asset flip games available on the internet and hundreds if not thousands are being made every day, and search engines like Steam's already do the job of filtering them all out. Even if AI game development results in the number of crappy games exponentially increasing, search engines are going to hide all of them from you unless if you go out of your way to find them.
>Gaming is lost forever
i'd question life if i thought gaming wasn't lost a few gens ago. AI didn't kill it. you probably enjoyed all the slop until today.
Exactly my thoughts. Good tools help good creators as much as shitty ones. But there will be 10 more shitty creators for every extra good one.
The pandemic was just the beginning for shovelware games.
>humans are about to become worthless
A load of Indians maybe. The current stuff could wipe out their entire tech industry within the next 5 years. Normal people will be fine though. Most jobs cant be replaced by text to speech yet.
How do you people think an AI can generate a full game with such a simple prompt. Pretend you had infinite budget right now and infinite access to labor, you'd still have to communicate every step of your vision. What you envision is Metroid Prime 4 is likely different than what other people would think when you say that. You underappreciate the full scale of what you're asking and millions of ways to interpret it. A game isn't a single decision "Make Metroid Prime 4" it's a combination of millions of factors including modern expectations of gameplay and artistic interpretation.
>deviantartists pretending like they had a steady customer base

I shat bricks
Ai on the left
until i can have a game that self-generates as i play it infinitely, this is just more slop for the slop industry

lol sure
>can't put time aside for his "passion project"
>expects people to give a shit after he "creates" it using AI tools everyone has

Just retexture them to your art direction boom done.
Assuming you find something that fits at all.
oh i'm assuming alright
like ASS, YOU AND ME-ING RIGHT HA
man i'm on a roll tonight you guys take care
It would take less time for a small team to finish up a set of AI generated assets then create a whole game's worth of them from scratch.
assets are also ones you see in other games,
And with that you instantly prove you don't understand how AI works
>he makes it in a flash
