Gaming is dying.

The golden era of gaming has ended years ago and will likely never return. Everything will be cloud streamed and live service more sooner than later. The beginning of the end was the PS-Vita/3ds/PS4/XB-ONE era.

You're full of shit. There's more games to play than there is time to play them. My backlog on steam is ~100 titles. Some of my friends has even more.

Today OP was not a homosexual. Great post. The good news is that you have all of the PC/PS1/PS2/360 library as well as the arcade library to enjoy. Gaming is dead, single best library ever is probably the 360 and PC but the PS1/PS2 has a lot to offer as well. Get the 360 library while you still can.

Gaming is not fine, innovation is dead VR has failed. OP is absolutely correct.

If you want good games its 2014 or earlier. What actually happened? The 2008/09 financial crisis happened and its effects started hitting hard by 2012. By 2014 quality fell of a cliff in gaming and cinema. You will never see attempts at innovation like living tots or kinnect or even CRT light guns, steering wheels, flight sticks and pedals, dance games, eyetoy games as well as the sheer variety and quality of libraries like the 360 or PS2 or pre 2014 PC. There is a 10% graphical improvement (maybe and not always) in the last decade. Most games from the 360 era have barely aged if at all and many are far better and more loved than anything released to day. If I wanted to be sentimental it would be about 8 bit computers by the way. Gaming is dead. It is a bit like the .com bubble or capeshit phenomena a bunch of talentless investment forces from outside gaming obsessed with marketing and identity politics that found gaming's core demographics repulsive and hated technology took it over with a profit motive and killed it and a giant economic crisis killed it. You can find everything you need for a fraction of the price pre 2014. Here is some places for you to start:

        Assassins Creed the first 7
        COD Modern Warfare (original 3)
        Mass effect 1,2,3
        Dead Space 1.2.3
        Bioshock 1,2,infinite
        Borderlands 1,2
        Dragon Age origins, 2, inquistion
Skyrim, Oblivion, thief, dragons dogma, diablo III,
Alan wake, the darkness, mirrors edge, pgm racing 3/4, need for speed underground, turok, farcry 2/3/4, alien isolation, bulletstorm, dishonoured, fallout 3 and new vegas, fable 2/3, dark souls 1/2/3, the line, Deus X, Tombraider underworld, lost planet 1/2/3, Max payne 3, darksiders 1/2, force unleashed, dead red, portal 2, orange box, ace combat 6, ATV racing it just goes on on and on and its all fricking brilliant compared to the latest shit even stuff that got raped in review back then like eat lead, duke nukem forever is infinitely more fun that anything recent.

Why does the effect the actual quality of video games? how does the way games are delivered as medium make anything a golden era? i agree that there was a golden era of gaming. But don't use physical copies as an excuse to say that's why it was better.

I'm sorry but just because you have a disc of something that's not going to bring back why gaming was better during 5th and 6th gen. You didn't even want to list the PS3 era as being the problem. Is that the golden era zoom zoom? did you love your bloom and brown? you shameless shit eater.

          >why gaming was better during 5th and 6th gen
OP here, If you really need to ask this question, then you might be literally moronic.

            Anonymous

No the reason gaming was better back then came down to one thing: games were cheaper to produce back then and therefore you got more of them, not to mention that there used to be a large section of AA studios before that part of the industry went bankrupt in 2008. That's why gaming sucked from that point on. Less games were being made.

PS3 did not really matter as it was too hard to develop for so it missed half the era.

There's a wealth of titles out there waiting for you to play, don't wait around for the modern industry to shit out something worthwhile, you'll go mad.

Exactly this and there are so fricking many. The old lego games have more fun in them than the last four AAA titles combined. Forgot to mention Wolfenstein, Kayne and Lynch, GTA 4, GTA5 (yes it is a decade old),need for speed underground, john woo, the club, king kong etc etc

Do you know how amazing it is to play a game like that after dealing with modern gaming?
It's given me a new lease on life man, let me tell you.

I'm glad you are enjoying Inie games and that's kewl but anyone who loves games can find everything they need for life before 2014 and it will be mostly far better than what's around now and on media that can't be removed or upcharged because its only a download media.

No, some stuff ages like 2600 games or 8 bit computer games. There really is no reason to spend 100$ on a new AAA game when you can buy 20 360 games that won't have aged and will be better if anything.

I've always really not enjoyed nintendo at all. never have. No problem with any other vendor so no interest. I suppose the wii stuff is out there and cheap but is really shit compared to the old PS1/PS2/360/PC libraries

I can tell. The games mentioned itt just scream "I only play """mature""" western normie core". And that ironically somehow includes Dark Souls these days.

    it really was
    >no more backwards compatabity
    >digital games can't be shared throughout different devices and even across gens anymore
    >paid online
it was all set up for the industry-orchestrated gamergate in order to push away the original audience who "new too much" for an eternal era of the "perfect consoomer" who stemmed from the booming nerd trend right before these consoles' reveals. they are superhero fans, hip hop fans, etc; whoever will stack subs on top of subs and even more subs from multiple different companies. those types of people
