There's nothing wrong with sequels or remakes, and it's obvious you homies have never ran a business in your lives. People want things they're familiar with, and deviating from that is such a huge risk that rarely works out.
In the case of videogames, I think the key is experimenting with what you got already. See what works, what could improve, what was previously unfeasible due to the tech, and so on.
Look at BotW/TotK for example. They basically just took the open world structure from the old 2D games, applied to 3D, and now they are considered iconic titles that continue to revolutionize the medium.
All the games in the OP have a golden base to build on. DD2 in particular seems like it's gonna be the first game again but prettier and more fleshed out. What more could you want? Y'all jaded.
