i have a i7 6th gen and GTX 970 laptop. Had it for years before recently building my desktop. I'm probably gonna turn it into a low level Plex server or something. For my next laptop I can't decide if I should try to get a cheap 30 series when 40 series laptops come out and prices drop or if I should try to hold out until 40 series have been out for a while and prices drop on those

only people who I have known to own gaming laptops are genuine retards and kids who parents are divorced and want to continue their saves games when they staying with different parents.

the people that buy gaming laptops fundamentally do not understand how their components work and that is just sad.

The modern brown, communist zoomer doesn't know how good he has it with mobile PCs and cloud storage. I had to cry and wait for two years just to get a Super Nintendo in both parents' houses.

Boomers are just cranky so don’t listen to them and do what makes you happy

Been using them for years. yeah building my own would be cheaper, but its stopped being fun and interesting sinking time into a build. Plus as long as you can upgrade the laptop who gives a fuck.

might as well get a pc you can upgrade without having to buy an entire new system. unless you travel or have some other need for portability although the ultimate portability will be a handheld

You can upgrade the cpu if you are careful, but I was primarily refering to Ram.

I rarely upgrade my cpu and gpu. When it is time to upgrade them I usually upgrade the motherboard while I am at it. So the whole motherboard, CPU and GPU should be your longest lasting component anyways. That's basically why I just gave up and went with laptops. Basically replacing the same components but with a fresh system, parts and mobility.

Are laptops really that bad? I just want to lay in bed and do some comfy gaymin after a long day of work.

You cannot play on a laptop in bed anyway. The laptop will fucking explode from all the dust that will get in.

If you want to game in bed, get a steam deck. Unironically

Honestly, they suck dick as a main desktop pc. Rather get an actual desktop which is gonna perform way better for less money...
But they do come in clutch when you work in a sub

I use laptop but don't play on their screen or keyboard. I just hook them up to a tv or monitor and also use separate keyboard and mouse. Some might say why not get a PC instead? Well because laptops are simply much more convenient. Small, easy to move around and there might be a time when I'd actually have to make use of its screen and keyboard like when traveling, going to a friend's house or something.

I don’t like how gaming laptops look, they always seem to be tacticool garbage with homolights. This wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that the point of getting a gaming laptop is so that you could use it outside of the home for other things like work. I don’t want to signal to every other human being around that I play videogames

Didn't get a gaming laptop. I bought an Asus U56E Core i5-2450M. Initially 118 dollars but the shipping price bumped it up a couple more bucks. I wanted to make sure to get a Windows 7 laptop that runs smoothly and has and a disc drive. I play Mahjong and Sims 3.
