it is until u hit something u rlly wanna play that wont work on linux, which sucks sometimes. also sucks if u have nvidia, almost makes me wanna just say frick it and keep using winblows. but linux is so comfy
some proton games just dont like nvidia, not as plug in play as amd
i shoulda stuck with amd for my upgrade but ill just keep gaming on my neutered w11 drive, ill keep linux around for everything else.
ah i see. i'll probably eventually run into an issue with the card. i had one issue but it was with a demo and every other game worked so i have a feeling it was an issue with the game itself. worst case scenario you can always go back to windows. i don't get why nvidia needs their drivers to be proprietary so desperately
yeah there was also a case where on some distros some steam games wouldnt even launch after a fresh install at all because something was borked with the nvidia drivers making proton prefixes and i had to downgrade. love linux warts and all but yeah they are way behing amd on the driver front. maybe ill try again if i get an amd card but yeah ill stick to w11 for desktop and just play on my SteamDeck lol, thank valve for the smoothest linux gaming experience i ever had
But you lose performance and features by switching to Windows, not Linux.

This is cherrypicked, most games run worse on Linux.

Works on my machine. All three of those reports are from NVIDIA users. If you have defective hardware then, yeah, your computer won't work well. They should have returned their cards when they had the chance.
all those work
the only game that doesn't work on linux is Destiny 2
but they made a stadia version, so there is a linux version somewhere
they hard block linux access to the game, so it's not even that it doesn't run, it's just bungie blocking access
i'm going to build my first pc next week.
thought about installing linux instead of windows but constantly hearing and seeing stuff like >[thing] doesn't work/needs a workaround on linux
has put me off completely.
i've come to value my time and what i really want is something simple that just works and windows seems to be the only option that offers that.
if you want to stop using windows but don't want to give up gaming, yes. If you have no problems with windows and don't want to learn a new system, and are not ready to tinker if needed, then no.
I've really enjoyed my time with it, only thing I've actively been playing that was having problems with Linux is Cyberpunk, but I also wanted all of the pathtracing and Nvidia effects so I just run that on Windows.
That and VR which is very hit or miss in Linux.
Been spending a lot of time playing CS2, Dragon's Dogma, TF2 and other shit and it works fine. I also enjoy the desktop experience way better than Windows.
I cannot tell you how grating it is just loading and trying to use Windows after getting accustomed to Plasma, random shit not working, Windows 11 ads every time I boot in, and it takes fricking ever to just boot.
It's a pain in my ass and I hate it.
I think the only gripe I have so far is that I can't really find how to resize thumbnails in the file select window when trying to upload an image to Ganker for example, but if I use the default file explorer and drag and drop my file into the image box it bypasses the problem.
Overall though, yeah I think it's good.
Moved over about 3 months ago and I've had a pretty good time. I'm also a Nvidia user and haven't really had any problems, I do hear AMD goes a lot smoother though.
I was surprised to find out that gaming on Linux is actually pretty good. I was actually getting equal, if not more frames on Linux than W10. Proton is amazing.
If you only ever use PC for videogames, i.e. as a glorified console, then no, stick to windows. Otherwise linux is the only decent option on the market.
Yeah.
>linux
>gaming
yes
Maybe

>sucks if you have nvidia
people keep on saying this but i've never had an issue. what issues have you had?

If you have an AMD GPU and play games that aren't really that modern, sure.
I can't think of any modern game that doesn't work.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
From a quick Google seems to work but you have to get it through steam instead of the MS store.
It doesnt work
Silver doesn't mean it doesn't work.
bruh

Battlefield 2042
Apex Legends
Battlebit
Some software of mine doesn't work either. It's why I'll never switch.
Bro I've played all 3 on Linux.
>Battlefield 2042
>Apex Legends
not needed, also windows emulators exist for games
all those work
the only game that doesn't work on linux is Destiny 2
but they made a stadia version, so there is a linux version somewhere

I intend to swap to it when I replace any of my PC parts next.
>Linux PC
No such thing, PCs are a microsoft product.
>Is it worth it?
People have been making posts on BBS like this before you were even fricking alive. have a nice day
have a nice day you fricking moron.
Better question: Is gaming on Windows worth it?
it is if u disable all the frick shit, i love linux but am sad im losing a bit of performance and features
But you lose performance and features by switching to Windows, not Linux.
im not amd, which is my issue
ehh
i'm going to build my first pc next week.

NTFS stands for Black person troony homosexual SYSTEM
FAT32 stands for FAST AS breasts 32 TRILLION DEAD israeliteS
you know which one I'm running
Monster Hunter World/Rise and RPG maker games are the only games I have performance issues with
Only thing Linux is good for is people who like a project to constantly fix
