Remove Rage and Limit Heat to once a game and boom you've got the best Tekken yet. Doesn't fix the dogshit netcode, ranked system and DLC MTX garbage but it's not like previous games were any better in that regard.

What the frick do you even mean with scrubby? Grapplers? Zoners? Those aren't any worse than in old games. Hell they might be easier to deal with than ever before. There's a lot you can criticise SF6 for but it's not scrubby characters or balancing. Cheesy characters carrying you to high ranks is more Tekkens and GBVS forte.
I like 8 more than 6 & 7, Bamco being greedy c**ts aside, but I'd have to replay 6's Story to be certain on that. 3/4/5 are better than the mainline games before and after them, and the Tag games are better on average than mainline.

Rage isn't so bad but it's at its worst in 8 regardless in terms of design. In 6 it was just a simple damage boost, in Tag 2 there was strategy behind it and ways to spend it early that involved the tag system, in 7 you have a choice between keeping Rage or Rage Art or Rage Drive, and now in 8 it's just Rage Arts. You have the "reversal Level 3" feeling most 2D games have maintained, without any semblance of decision-making.
as far as comeback mechanics go, rage art is probably the least cancerous but it does suck that they just took away any nuance from it and heat doesnt really bring that back either since there is no reason to ever save it

The director of Bayonetta Origins started out as a localization guy for Bayonetta 2.
Tag 2 is the best post-5 game but 6's story mode might be worth a play if you like Tekken Force since it's a more direct and less arcadey version of that. 8 is solid and the next-best after Tag 2 but I'd probably still wait for it to be cheaper if I were you. Also the best version of Tag 2 is unironically the WiiU version, has significant amounts of exclusive content.
