Ghost Kanji or the English word "Ghost"? Or thematically something ghost or supernatural related in the title?
Can't be any of the Ghost Buster games.
Found this. not it, because in Japan it is called White Lion Denetsu.
But neat?
>English word "Ghost"?
Yeah that, ゴースト
>Can't be any of the Ghost Buster games.
Why wouldn't it be? Arino played licensed games before, like RoboCop and Batman on the NES.
Personally I think it's Ghost Chaser Densei though.
When they do licsensed, it's typically big series that had a lot of retro games and still have relevancy today like Sailor Moon, Batman, Dragon Ball, etc. Ghost Busters is likely not even that big in Glorious Nippon and it's not really relevant now.
>Personally I think it's Ghost Chaser Densei though.
Sounds reasonable and the SuFC is a nice port and all, but sadly it has slow down out the ass. not the first nor last SFC game they'll play with massive slowdown.
ghost busters is lame.

>sherry gets really sexy in later games you know
Abe and his priorities.
>Ogawa putting balls into her mouth
I'm not sure why each ep has its requisite "Ogawa moment" but I can't complain.
>It's another beat em up where you end up taking infinite chip damage unless you're constantly jumping
Great, 40 minutes of jump kicks at times interrupted by bruteforced bosses.
They should just transition into puzzle or adventure games entirely at this point, I can't recall a single beat em up episode that wasn't absolute shit.
>They should just transition into puzzle or adventure games entirely at this point
That would be boring as hell, Sure, Arino can work off of adventure games depending on their story, but puzzle game episodes are mostly just "stage cleared" montages.
What would be more interesting in my opinion is shifting the focus over to the 5th and 6th gen games with more multi-part episodes.
I suggested the clown bomb island game a while back.
are the torrents on nyaa or the mega.nz the best quality?
Haven't made a lot of progress on Super Bomberman thanks to IRL shit. Hopefully will make some more progress on it soon.
what, like watching it? It's only an hour long show.
No, machine translating it.
Got the first 10 minutes done. Really liking .ass formatting features.
Under what moniker are you releasing those?
[Half Assed Machine Translations], already did a .srt for 287 - World of Illusion.
Where are you uploading those? thanks mate
Last one I ended up throwing on a hardbin, but I plan on putting them somewhere a bit more stable. Anyone have any recommendations for file hosts that don't require an account?
I think Krakenfiles will hold your shit without an account as long as it gets a download every month
15 minutes done.
join the mpv master race.
Doing awesome work, thanks bro.
Unrelated, I watched the Dynamite Headdy episodes this week, after finishing the game myself last week.
It was pretty fun to see he got stuck on Angry Funny too, and was cool to see the room cheering for him and yelling instructions the whole time.
>wearing gloves at the arcade
Watching these just makes me sad that Japan will never EVER return to normal again.
i've given up that the entire show will be subbed.
Arino has not gotten sick yet, and the time off would hurt his schedule. It's a compromize.
I actually started thinking about learning Japanese so that I could (more-or-less) understand what's going on. Wonder how long that would take me (I'm not talking about some native-level fluency)? Three, four years?
Where could I find the episodes that were subbed before they were released on dvd? I remember watching thema long time ago, but now, thanks to them being licensed, they're impossible to find
I think the copies we have are the ones put onto youtube or nico nico. Literally 240p blurry messes. You can barely see anything.
Seems the stream is gone once more.
Boomer show
>What if Arino wsa Turkish?
I recommended like 50+ games a few years ago. I keep noticing that the games I've recommended keep popping up. If it's Ghost Chaser Densei, then it's another one I recommended.
I can't figure out if it's because there's a limited amount of sfc/fc games worth playing, or if they are following my recs. I also rec'd a lot of saturn titles that aren't showing up.
🙂
Off-topic but I lost my shit when Arino showed up in this music video as a creepy stalker character.
Arino-san is too jovial to be menacing. He reminds me of a real life super mario.
Alright everyone
Favourite episode/s?
Episode you didn't think you'd enjoy but ended up loving?
What games have you discovered through GCCX that you wouldn't have played otherwise?
What game would you most like to see him try from the PS2/DC/GC/Xbox era?
For me;
Fave ep: The whole Quest of Ki Saga has been some of the most fun I've had watching the series. The crazy difficulty, Arino's frustration and determination, and the great finale with people faxing him encouragement live was heart warming.
Surprise ep: I didn't think I'd enjoy the quiz game 'YuYu's Quiz de Go Go!', but the interaction with the staff made it one of my favourites. Ditto was the Dragon Ball NES episode, never had any interest in Dragon Ball, but the wacky story and genuinely fun looking game made it entertaining.
Games discovered: I probably would have gotten around to them at some point, but I purposely went out of my way to try Dynamite Headdy and Pulseman before watching those episodes. Both really cool Mega Drive games and I'm glad I went to give them a shot.
PS2/DC/GC/XB game: I'd like to see him try Splinter Cell. The stealth would be fun, although the game is probably way too long?
Favorite Episodes:
Quest of Ki
Prince of Persia
Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2
Metro Cross
Tokimeki Memorial
Super Mario World
F-Zero
Street Fighter 2
Episode you didn't think you'd enjoy but ended up loving:
Any of the quiz games, they're all great.
Games I played because of gccx:
Tokimemo, Kirby's Dream Course, Comix Zone
PS2/DC/GC/XB game: Devil May Cry 1 and 3
What did you think of Comix Zone? I played it due to seeing GCCX had an episode on it, but didn't like the game much. It felt like they ran out of time and money, realised the game was 30 minutes long so just made it 'one life and game over' to extend the lifespan.
yeah that's pretty much it. I like it on a superficial level and it looks good but the game itself is just a substandard beatem up I think.
Agree, the aesthetics are 10/10 but the game feels like an unfinished potentially good game. I liked the adventure game aspects like using items/switches to have solutions and multiple routes, but again it's a literal 30 minute long game padded out by cheap deaths.
Arino managed to make it through pretty well surprisingly! I'm sure they skipped some parts of recurring deaths, but still.
I don't think he'd get much done in any DMC game. Not in an entertaining way either. He'd be miserable. It's just a bad fit for him and for the show.
Just the opposite. It's a pretty solid game but you can cheese through it. I'm already imagining the narration:
>Arino unlocks "easy automatic".
>narrator explains it
>AD comes in and says no, play normal
>"Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Even the game is mocking me."
Later:
>Arino is at the shop. Sees the holy water and health
>AD explains prices go up as you buy more so please conserve them
>Then he dies to a boss for an hour
>AD explains the boss pattern with complex diagrams
>"Then throwing away his pride as a gamer, he has an idea"
>spams holy water to get through
>Arino: you were saying?
Even later:
>Holy water price is now too much because he abused it
>It's like midnight and he's fighting Mundus
>whole staff cheering him on
>sound guy had to catch the last train home
>thinks he's beaten the game and puts the controller down
>has to both fight the mundus slime form, and pilot the plane
total Time: 13 hours 10 minutes
he'd be able to get through it with holy water cheese probably
this
I could definitely see him doing it, I didn't think the original was that difficult when I first played it, and I'm not particularly good.
I guess the biggest concern would be that he plays it in a very dull way, but Arino and the crew usually know how to make things fun.
I doubt he could beat any boss past the middle. The ADs would be doing too much of it.
They certainly wouldn't pick DMC2 to play.
Could you imagine? It would be pretty funny when he realises you can just hold the 'fire guns' button and win.
I don't remember DMC1 being that difficult, but it's been so long I'll take your word for it.
>I don't remember DMC1 being that difficult,
It was noted for its difficulty at the time, and I remember I had some trouble with it. The enemies are much faster and more aggressive than later DMC games which turn them into dummies to practice long combos on. Arino is also slightly moronic middle aged man as well not some high tier gamer.
Ooh, and I've noticed his biggest problem is momentum physics for some reason. He struggles with driving games and Mario for the same reason. This is why he can beat some games with brute force but teh most basic shit with momentum physics will blindside and stump him.
>666x666
but..its not tho...
>Stream #0:0(eng): Video: vp8, yuv420p(progressive), 666x666, SAR 16:9 DAR 16:9, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 1k tbn (default)
Everytime I show someone GCCX, I go for these of these, so they might be my favs:
>Atlantis no Nazo
>Kitano's Challenge
>Paris-Dakar Rally Special
>Transformers: Mystery of Convoy
These look like fun, thanks bro. Will check them out soon.
New sub just released
>Game Center CX #329 - Super Monkey Ball [EphemeralSpecter].mkv
https://nyaa.si/view/1554741
>2.2GB for a 1 hour 720p
I have 2 hour movies of blu-ray ripped 720p 10bit encodes that are only 1GB, and they are sharp as hell. Why does Skye do this?
x264 vs. x265 maybe?
>noooooooooo you must compress. I must COOMPRESS
>I have 2 hour movies of blu-ray ripped 720p 10bit encodes that are only 1GB, and they are sharp as hell. Why does Skye do this?
GCCX rips are just like that, all over the place. The recent DVD rips were of very low file size compared to the fact that it's 480 DVD rips at like 60fps. I've seen DVD rips at like GB for a single 30 minute episode.
because it's 60fps and probably has the subs baked in so they have to over encode to prevent quality loss especially if they are hard deinterlacing
Him saying that was just because it was funny to say something 不謹慎 since it sounds like トランプ大統領.
>because it's 60fps and probably has the subs baked in so they have to over encode to prevent quality loss especially if they are hard deinterlacing
Hard subs are sooooooooooo fricking moronic. It also makes preserving the show in the best quality possible much harder, as the english fanbase is much more likely to keep hard-subs than the more pure original files.
This is a soft sub.

Ohh, I've been wanting to play the original MB games anyway. I might wait until I've played the first before watching this one. Good choice for that gen though!
Very nice.
So, how's the translation quality?
I hope they do more adventure games and FMV games, like the sequel to D, Enemy Zero, and that other one on the saturn.
rip in piece GooseCanyon.
>rip in piece GooseCanyon.
wut?
I think their checker had a kid and is too busy to work on subs right now, so they're just going to be a little slower while they get extra help elsewhere.
Didn't they do EDF just last month? I didn't see anything about them disbanding.
>Favourite episode/s?
The Wing of Mandoola, Golgo 13, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Country 2, Battletoads, Nosferatu, Mega Man 3, 4, and 5, Out Of This World, and Bikkuruman World or however it's spelled. The re-skinned Wonder Boy in Monster Land.
>Episode you didn't think you'd enjoy but ended up loving?
Mito Koumon. He makes janky games look fun.
>What games have you discovered through GCCX that you wouldn't have played otherwise?
None really. I tried a few only to find they were nowhere near as fun as Arino made them look, and the rest I'm either familiar with or have no interest in trying.
>What game would you most like to see him try from the PS2/DC/GC/Xbox era?
That would be hard, for various reasons.
>The Warriors
Wasn't released in Japan.
>The Simpsons: Hit & Run
Wasn't released in Japan.
>Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
The original was released on the PS2 in Japan, but not the sequel.
>Twisted Metal: Black
Wasn't released in Japan.
>Tony Hawk's Underground
Wasn't released in Japan.
Only ones I can think of that were released in Japan are RE4 and the GTA trilogy, and the GTA trilogy are a bit too long for him to blaze through in a day or two. Even RE4 is kinda stretching it for a new player.
>GTA Trilogy
I could see them MAYBE doing GTAIII, but they would need to provide him a 'roadmap' of sorts of 'Do these missions in this order' to make a beeline for the credits. I doubt they could do it otherwise. If he did only the required missions I reckon they could make a special/two parter.
Also, thanks for those episode recs I've downloaded a few to watch later on.
I forget how long the paste guy waits before saying the site is late, but it looks like it's late this time. Call out what #342 is when you see it pop up.

There it is. Clock Tower: Ghost Head.
Clock Tower Ghost Head: HOLY SHIT
Been wanting this one for years. Fantastic it's another adventure title! There's also Clock Tower 3 for the PS2, and then Haunted Grounds which is an unofficial spiritual successor.
oh shit. I suggested this game like last month. heh. now I feel like a dork. The ep would have been recorded like 3 months ago.
Remember brawl brothers? That shit was sick
Originally I hated 2 and Ghost Head, saying they weren't as good as the pixar art game. The graphics however have that early 3DO or playstation charm. I do think that Ghost Head is the weakest of the games, only if because the starting zone just feels so small and cramped with not a lot interconnecting.
Mario Sunshine is more or less inevitable at this point. Only problem is that these kind of low challenge adventure games aren't that interesting and take 2 episodes to complete. Also funny that the early show blew past the Mario series in like 5 seasons, doing each one a season. Then they had to challenge the gameboy titles years later.
>that part in the re2 challenge when Abe starts talking about how sexy Sherry grows up to be, and they say "play re6 so that this conversation makes sense".
Marchen Maze subs when?
qrd on ephemeral spectre? are they just another sub group?
Spectre used to post around these parts and used to be a part of /vrgccx/ before it died. Ephemeral has created 1080p Hi10p 60fps raws for Super Mario World and Ghosts 'n Goblins, but for the challenges only, and supplied the DVD bonus Yie Ar kung fu rip to "Xerdopwerko", whoever the hell that is. Looks like Ephemeral has decided to start doing translations, Specter is handling timing & typesetting, and they are using Skye's raws.
cool
Ephemeral also provided all the DVDs and Blu-Rays for that recent megapack:
https://nyaa.si/view/1545698
Is it even possible to buy/stream it in the West anymore? I've only seen resellers selling the DVD sets for big markups.
I don't mind buying it if it's actually going to support the show, but otherwise I'll just pirate.
>Is it even possible to buy/stream it in the West anymore?
Midnight pulp has the rights to the Retro Game Master DVD. and what's funny is when Arino san was given the glasses, it had Retro Game Master on them with just as much prominance as Game Center CX. The company was probably given a list of graphics and they listed Retro Game mater as well, since it's still the official western title.
https://www.midnightpulp.com/series/008003s/retro-game-master
>https://www.midnightpulp.com/series/008003s/retro-game-master
Ah yeah, might have been you but someone linked me this in a past thread. Region blocked for Australia 🙁
I enjoyed Supa Monke Booru
They'll probably do all 3 of them, and then space them out over like 4 years each.
Which makes me think: Will Arino-sama still be doing these when he's 60's? His eye sight is already going, since he needs glasses to read. I wonder if he already has problems seeing the screen but doesn't wear them because he has to be in character.
