Take a moment to consider how many people donated with their credit card and will be in debt for years because of their donations. Twitch is one of the saddest places in the world when you realize many donations are made on credit by people who can't afford it but think $100 will give them attention.
I personally know a mid-sized female twitch streamer. She said there are a handful of guys that will literally consistently pay her a portion of their wages. She doesn't even talk to them outside of her stream. They'll just show up and donate $50 or $100 every stream.
I don't blame her for accepting the money; who wouldn't? But the absolute state of so many men is horrifying.
People with moral scruples wouldn't take money they know personally harms the other person, just another example showing how fricking shit modern people are that they just shrug at this.

It probably will be, even ESA is getting lower and lower. Speedrunning as a mainstream fad is dying if not already dead, and hell Twitch is falling off too as zoomies don't use it as much. So that doesn't help.
It's insane how drastically the viewership of all these events has dropped off in the past 2-3 years, whatever twitch exodus is going on it's really not overexaggerated.
Even EVO suffered this year. Nobody's watching Twitch for the live events anymore. Even the top streamers (not the super top streamers though) are struggling. I have no idea why or whats going on either just people are struggling to get viewers now. I think a lot of streaming focus has gone away from gaming streams and events, and towards IRL streams, and reacting to stuff (TV shows, youtube videos etc) the ones that pull in the most are drama streams.
because twitch has been flooding streams with so many ads they're unwatchable. massive preroll ads, ads that pop up in the middle of the action and don't pause the stream. for those of us on PCs that use adblock it's a minor annoyance but for all the normies that watch on their phones and tablets with no adblock it's probably a miserable experience. why bother when you can watch netflix?
Normal adblockers don't even work anymore in some countries, you need to jump through hoops downloading twitch specific blockers that get bricked and replaced as fast as they pop up. It's not even worth the trouble.

Maybe everyone is sick and tired of the moronic amount of advertisements that are forced from Twitch itself. It's beyond ludicrous. I'm not even trying to hyperbolize it, it's fricking insane how many ads are being pushed. Streamers are required to play a few minutes of ad every hour and it's beyond annoying and intrusive.
what's moronic is other platforms like youtube and even fricking STEAM's streaming service allows you to skip around a broadcast, pause it, etc. and twitch hasn't invested anything into that, it's insane. normies would b***h less if the ads paused the stream and didn't cause you to miss so much.
look up Alternate Player For Twitch, that's the one that 100% blocks ads every time but it uses a black screen to do it, if all back on that when all else fails.
although now the problem is twitch is getting super passive aggressive and if it can't serve you ads it will send a signal to the player that the broadcast ended when it didn't
I noticed that when watching ESA. I'd repeatedly get five 30 second - 1 minute long ads in a row every half an hour to an hour despite having various adblocks it managed to circumvent them all. It deifnitely wasn't this bad even a year ago.
TTV Lol Pro is also another option that works okay. right now the main problem is these cause the player to bug out, like every time it blocks ads there's a 30/30/30 shot the player will just infinitely buffer, the stream will pause on its own or it'll be fine.
i mostly just use twitch for background noise now, between that and how much streaming services suck now i've spent the past couple of weeks filling up a 4TB drive with stuff to watch on plex, i've downloaded some youtube playlists so what's next will be finding good twitch broadcasts to archive
A couple months ago I saw some guy bring up in a thread covid revealing to all these companies that advertisements don't really boost their profits as much as these ad serving platforms tried to make them believe leading to a mass culling of ad contracts.
I don't know how true it was but it made a lot of sense to me, going along with that line of thought it comes off like twitch is so desperate to keep their remaining contract partners that they promise them this insane amount of exposure to the point they shot their own site in the head.
it's moronic to me because part of the problem is also that the ads are never anything video game related. when you watch like EVO or a Quake tournament or something, usually most of the ads are for things related to video games. hardware, games, peripherals, maybe some fast food company will sponsor it. but you get an ad on twitch and it's like for fricking laundry detergent or something. so it's made even worse in that respect because now me watching a speedrun or something has been interrupted by that brand.
Yeah, the ads are bizarre. Sometimes you see something like a "gamer" version of a Grubhub ad but then you get shit like life insurance, fricking ketchup, sports betting, and photoshop being marketed towards "creators".
It's the same cycle for all tech shit. Once the investors start questioning

The stalling was the worst its ever been and I'm not just talking about the Breath of the Wild stall that happened at the end of the event which has been discussed, but the wait times between games was atrocious. Most of it wasn't even to stall for incentives, it wasj ust they're so shit and disorganized at setting up. 102 Dalmatians was like an hour set up time and even then it was in black and white, they jsut gave up.

One. Women largely do not play games. Certainly not to extent to do proper speedruns. Sliver of recognition for record and competition drives man (and trannies) to speed run. Speedruning is too antisocial to interest women.
Two. Incel to troony pipeline. Most speedruners are incels. Incels are depraved of community and female sexual attention. troony left wing cult gives "supporting" community, "friends" and "admirers", while also letting to internalize craving for female action from autoeroticism. It will end with disillusionment and probably suicide, but for few years it is very alluring proposition to incel speedrunner who has to social life whatsoever.
Three. for years GDQ is completely run and controlled by trannies even in ordinary events so this just helps to bypass more qualified male speedrunners in favor of even more trannies. Purpose of these events is neither charity nor speedrunning.
