The actual answer is originally it was a bunch of jackasses having fun and showing stuff so unprofessionalness made it feel genuine. Current GDQ is, outside of whatever is given to charity, a very boring and samey event in terms of actually watching it because it is (or they want it to be) professional and clean with a friendly atmosphere.

if you're actually wondering why speedrunning has a leftist/troony slant it's because the left (at least in America) is far more accepting of alternative forms of 'success' where as on the American right 'success' has far more constrained and traditionalist definitions.
In short there are right wing speedrunners, but they hate themselves for pursuing a hobby that will never make them rich or get them laid.
this is incidentally why ESA will never swing left nearly as hard as GDQ because this perceived conservative trinity of success as Wealth/Love/Religion is far weaker over there.

Nope, that's a spook. I was at a GDQ in person recently (HELLO EVERYONE, IT'S ME AGAIN!) and the number of people actively presenting as trans was very low, I could probably count them on my fingers. It's just that among those that were presenting a good number of them were extremely pushy about 'being seen'. They'd force their way onto couches and often sit in the front row of the crowd. I think they think that their visibility is like, activism? That or they're just exhibitionists. Frankly I don't care.
With the statistical rate that dysphoria actually occurs, having more than one trans person in a community of thousands is an anomaly. Even if it's like 20 people that's still way higher than normal.

So I had job project at a house the other day at a house with a troon. I know him previously from before he trooned out and this time he has a "girlfriend."
