Sanji shouldn't even be able to attack female enemies. It should be an immediate stun the moment a pretty girl enemy shows up, forcing you to swap to someone else. That would make things at least interesting, I guess. Letting him attack but do no damage is a waste of time.
I can't remember if it was OPPW3 or OPPW4 (or hell, maybe even Burning Blood) but they had a completely different animation set that would kick in if you would've hit a girl where Sanji gets hearts for eyes and instead of doing the attack, he would be dashing around her, getting down on a knee, and gawking at her. So mid-combo if you switch target he'd start doing those "non-attacks" and if you swap away, he'd go back to normal attacks.
They should've just made him have different expressions and voicelines against female characters and that's that.
It's a freaking video game. They should prioritize making it fun to play before lore accuracy.

I only started getting into One Piece in the past year. I just thought Gear 5 was cool after finding out what it was, but I've been surrounded by it my whole life. It's part of the "Big 3" for a reason.

Everything was good up to a certain point during the raid. There were mistakes like big memes amnesia and the dango e-girl and oden worship but nika unfortunately killed everything.

He spend almost a decade building it up so he could jerk off grorious Nippon. It felt like he wanted to make a magnum opus but because he tried so hard, it fell short.
I'm not lying, it's just obvious they dragged things out. Did we need all the flashbacks, did we need the same animation of Luffy just waking up to Gear 5 to happen at least three times as different parties talk about it? No but it means more time for the manga to keep outpacing it.

They can't, well, TECHNICALLY Kaido can in his full dragon form by generating heath clouds he climbs on and Luffy can in Gear 4 by kicking the air rapidly, but in the form they're both in during that webm, they can't fly, and they weren't flying in the manga. It's just the anime desperately wanting to be DBZ.

a lot of things are to blame for this but mainly the reputation of Toei themselves, they know people think their animation is some of the worst out there so this is what desperation looks like

by itself, that explains much of what luffy is able to do - he rubberizes what's around him and fights using that to his advantage - simple enough and with precedent laid out for it. the real problem is that the author FRICKING LIED TO US ABOUT WHAT HIS POWER WAS FOR 24 YEARS because he's not a rubber human - he's a specific kind of bullshit spirit human that has a body unbound by standard logic which just so happens to ONLY ACT LIKE rubber when unawakened. a fully awakened version of this whatever the frick power is essentially a low-yeild reality warper and can act on the world and others (something devil fruits don't do directly - you can set a man on fire but not turn him into fire with the same power, even awakened) in a fashion that is a one way
basically. it changes his body into a relentless dynamo of energy and possibility only limited by what occurs to him and what he can reach. the only limit is that it seems to drain him in a way that renders him a deflated drained husk, but that seems to last even shorter than 4's drawback, but might also imply something more down the line.

watching 1000+ episodes of an anime can't compare to reading 1000+ chapters at your own pace. if you read one volume per day (1-2 hours of your time) you'll catch up in 3-4 months. if you watch 5 episodes a day (1.5 hours) it'll take you 7 months

Garp went to go save Koby. Everyone makes it out except Garp, Aokiji froze him after stabbing him. Backstory that he was Garp's student and BFF the whole time.
Flashback for what happened while Sabo was in Mary G. Kobra met with Imu, and was killed by him and the Goro. All the Goro have trippy fruit powers but weren't revealed. Sabo tried to save Kobra, but was framed. Reveals Vivi's mom was a D, and Imu has some kind of boner for her. Wapol saw everything from a hole, and NOPED the frick out of there, with Vivi hitchhiking a ride.
There were so many breaks in between, i dont even remember all the details well.

For Sentomaru I think it's more he holds Vegapunk in higher regards than he does the Marines and isn't blindly loyal like some of the others. Even now he's trying to figure out how to convince Kizaru to go away but the latter is saying he has no choice as he's just a cog in the WG's machine.

The 'super special snowflake' CoA he learned in prison isn't the one he used in what you describe as his third go at Kaido, that was advanced CoC.
Besides, both advanced CoA and CoC were introduced well before this fight, advanced CoC during the Oden flashback way earlier in the arc, and there was speculation about advanced CoA as early as gear 4th's introduction, which solidified when Big Mom and Katakuri showed signs of something similar to the haki Luffy used in G4 form.
Hiyori's story should have been wrapped up before Gear 5 reveal in the manga. Going back and forth between an epic moment like that and a throwaway sidestory like Hiyori's cheapened the impact.
I think that was what cemented my opinion of PW4 being inferior all around. It doesn't have any actual difficulty content. Nightmare Log in PW3 would kill you easily until you completely maxed out a character, PW4 doesn't anything remotely resembling that and the final missions in the Treasure Log or whatever it's called weren't that spectacular or hard to a decently build up character.

Pretty much. The fruit's power is "to be free" and Luffy's breaking physics and reality while using it which technically he was always doing before but thought it was because he was rubber instead of having The Chosen Fruit of the Gods because Oda lost his marbles goddammit.
That fight is when his Devil Fruit was awoken so it's the first time he's using cartoon physics on an enemy to that extent. He uses Gear 5 again later on against Lucci in the next arc but the latter doesn't have the cartoon stuff happen to him as badly.

I thought that episode where Queen was finally taken down had a really poignant moment for Sanji. Him asking himself what Luffy would find more useful, a womanizing cook who's unable to lay a finger on the opposite sex or a heartless killing machine who can beat up a monster like Queen on command. Like damn son. Zoro's fight was cool and a visual spectacle but it was mostly him remembering the past and that bit at the end about him becoming the king of hell, kinda cringe to be honest, but I guess it goes hand in hand with sanji calling zoro and asking him earnestly to kill sanji if by the end of the day, sanji ends up becoming a monster.

So mid-combo if you switch target he'd start doing those "non-attacks" and if you swap away, he'd go back to normal attacks.

gear 4 is very versatile, relying chiefly on using haki, a kind of bullshit willpower magic that came in later or at least, he's not been shown using 4 without it. the main advantage of gear four is allowing him to use his rubber muscles to defy how his body normally acts and expresses so far in 2 ways: boundman and snakeman. the former causes him to reflect for very efficiently, making him rebound more forcefully, as well as letting him compress parts of himself to multiply the force exponentially; the latter allows his muscles to redirect his body shape, allowing for sudden direction changes and movement at unpredictable angles

basically. it changes his body into a relentless dynamo of energy and possibility only limited by what occurs to him and what he can reach. the only limit is that it seems to drain him in a way that renders him a deflated drained husk, but that seems to last even shorter than 4's drawback, but might also imply something more down the line.

Flashback for what happened while Sabo was in Mary G. Kobra met with Imu, and was killed by him and the Goro. All the Goro have trippy fruit powers but weren't revealed. Sabo tried to save Kobra, but was framed. Reveals Vivi's mom was a D, and Imu has some kind of boner for her. Wapol saw everything from a hole, and NOPED the frick out of there, with Vivi hitchhiking a ride.
There were so many breaks in between, i dont even remember all the details well.

For Sentomaru I think it's more he holds Vegapunk in higher regards than he does the Marines and isn't blindly loyal like some of the others. The 'super special snowflake' CoA he learned in prison isn't the one he used in what you describe as his third go at Kaido, that was advanced CoC.
Besides, both advanced CoA and CoC were introduced well before this fight, advanced CoC during the Oden flashback way earlier in the arc, and there was speculation about advanced CoA as early as gear 4th's introduction, which solidified when Big Mom and Katakuri showed signs of something similar to the haki Luffy used in G4 form.
Hiyori's story should have been wrapped up before Gear 5 reveal in the manga. Going back and forth between an epic moment like that and a throwaway sidestory like Hiyori's cheapened the impact.
Sad how in 4 the only missions worth to play are the Emperors one and bounty shit.
3 had so many fun maps on nightmare log, or those dlc ones. Even 2 had fun episode maps, many could be short
I think that was what cemented my opinion of PW4 being inferior all around. It doesn't have any actual difficulty content. Nightmare Log in PW3 would kill you easily until you completely maxed out a character, PW4 doesn't anything remotely resembling that and the final missions in the Treasure Log or whatever it's called weren't that spectacular or hard to a decently build up character.

I thought that episode where Queen was finally taken down had a really poignant moment for Sanji. Him asking himself what Luffy would find more useful, a womanizing cook who's unable to lay a finger on the opposite sex or a heartless killing machine who can beat up a monster like Queen on command. Like damn son. Zoro's fight was cool and a visual spectacle but it was mostly him remembering the past and that bit at the end about him becoming the king of hell, kinda cringe to be honest, but I guess it goes hand in hand with sanji calling zoro and asking him earnestly to kill sanji if by the end of the day, sanji ends up becoming a monster.
