I honestly wish they remade Gen 3 with the Gen 5 engine; it would've looked and played SO good, would've had a way better mon pool, and would've cut out all that seasonal trash.

Download a romhack if you hate gen 5 (or literally any gen) for that matter.
Gen 5 doesn't have ROMhacks that improve the actual region
What's there to improve? Unova is already kino as is
more anthea and concordia appearances
also more rotation battles. a LOT more rotation battles.
How about making a region more complex than a fricking loop?
I think it's dumb when there are gyms in two towns back to back, unless there's like a big dungeon/story event between the two
The whole game looks worse than fricking mystery dungeon eos
>>mon selection is awful;
not its not, its objectively the best because it directly avoids the "Kanto Expansion Pack" problem everyone hates about Johto. Unova was intended as Masuda's Magnum Opus, they didn't want the Unovas Pokemon be seen as forgettable filler like Johto's are.
Neanwthile, the actual reactions to the dex
>bootleg Kanto
Hoenn isn't insecure about its connections to Kanto, and yet it's one of the most beloved regions of all time. It's almost like the best way to make a new gen is to keep the old stuff that was good and throw away the stuff that was bad, not just throwing away all your progress and starting over.
>and yet it's one of the most beloved regions of all time
by nostalgiagays, maybe
Yeah! Instead of being Kanto's Expansion Pack, it's Kanto's Imitator, and you know what they say about imitation being the most sincere form of flattery...
It imitated gen 1, that's why nobody liked it at the time, plus it also was extremely linear... I think that was the main reason I didn't like it as a kid along with not liking half the new dex.
>johto out of nowhere
what with is this dumbass spam lately?
Imagine thinking any pokemon game was ever fast
Why are they still unable to display text during the move animations?
Gen 5 is actually playable at 1x speed, everything flows so smoothly.
Everything is playable at 1x speed that's not the issue here and that doesn't means the game is fast
What makes the pokemon battle system slow has never been touched in any pokemon games except for spinoffs like the Stadiums, ColoXD and PBR
>Everything is playable at 1x speed
No, not really. Gen 1 and 2 aren't. Gen 4 specially is a fricking chore at 1x.
I think you just have a tiktoker attention span
Sorry anon, I'm not 5 any more. I can't spend 40 seconds fainting blissey any more
Then why are you playing gen 5? It also has the HP bar bug
I play renegade platinum with the 60fps hack on real hardware. Pretty smooth
>Just play shitty qolslop that doesn't account for its own frame rate and desynchs the music and animation because the hack author is moronic
No thanks, i'll pass

Hot take but I wish every game locked you into only having using new mons, at least until late in the game.
Most people only use new ones anyway, I like that gen 5 gives you a lot to choose from, and it helps make the game actually feel fresh.
Only real problem with Gen 5's mons is that a lot of them are just lamer versions of gen 1 mons that I already didn't care about, I wish they were a bit more unique, tho I feel like it probably has about as many stand-outs as gen 1 does.
I don't. It would be more regressive for them to continiously try to reinvent the wheel every time a new generation is released. With the amount of Pokemon in the series, you can definitely find and create new opportunities for old Pokemon to have in regions. Just requires actual experimentation and a desire to create games that don't try and 1:1 the originals.
this is one of the worst autistic mindsets that plagues this series. what's the point of making 150 new Pokemon for this purpose when half of them are just going to be blatant ripoffs of older Pokemon anyway. there's nothing wrong with using older Pokemon, I seriously doubt you've used every single old Pokemon anyway, so there should still be plenty that are new to you, and it let's GF put the spotlight on some that were underutilized before. I would rather they put in the dev time towards polishing the game and designing exciting new Pokemon instead of just churning out designs to fill every niche *again*. (not that they put in any effort nowadays, but in an ideal world). Gen 3 strikes the perfect balance imp of having enough new Pokemon to give Hoenn a unique identity, but using older Pokemon where appropriate.
Agree with this, just getting rid of the old pokemon is moronic
ORASzoomer here, I thought it looked ugly, but I enjoyed it (b2w2 much more than bw) I still hate how conkeldurr looks like a muppet though
>best move animations
>best soundchip
Nah if anything they're the worst. I can hardly take those two aspects of Gen 5 seriously. So much so that I turn off the Battle Effects every single time.
hey
at least it isnt violet or scarlet
ugliest fricking games ever with no style
i wish pokemon stayed pixel styled with pixel sprites
they could have improved the quality of the sprites like they did with some of the icons, which is more noticeable in swsh
>soulful animated sprites
Maybe on the new Pokemon, but the returning ones were 90% just static gen 4 sprites with tweening puppet rigs slapped on. Raikou in particular is extremely soulless.
The art styles on a handful of them look mismatched with how some were pulled from HG/SS and others from Diamond/Pearl because they wanted to pick the most static poses between games to make them easier to animate
How is sniffing soulless
The base sprite it’s modeled after had a frame for it roaring and they decided to keep it static with an awkward head wobble
the idle wobbling is weird but that lean is pretty swanky
