Almost every single one is a gen 1 knockoff. There are a few standouts, but the good does not make up for the abundance of bad.

It powercrept the metagame so much, game freak was forced to start introducing gimmicks from then onwards to keep making new mons.
The pushback game freak recieved from these games convinced them to stop innovating and it was the first game to focus on online content at the expense of postgame stuff.
I’d take a glitchy mess with vision over a boring as nails unoriginal knock off like Gen 5 any day

This is an interesting one but I don't see it at all. There's plenty of postgame and the online things were still very minimal. People just hate the later decision to shut them down.

Most people wouldn't call it boring, I already shown how it's more original (among unmentioned ways it separated itself from other establish dnirms in the series), and it being a knock off is a meme argument.
Sawk and throw, audino, Klinklang, unfeazent, conkelldor… do I need to go on? These are all easy to see gen 1 rehashes and those are a few of most of the gen.

There was insane powercreep with weather. They had to ban speed+ weather in singles as well as sleep, and for vgc they introduced some of the best pokemon of all time in lando, among us, the introduction of mini z moves in gems….
The lack of innovation is my opinion, but it’s undeniable that the pushback to Gen 5 changed GF and TPCI’s approach to pokemon forevermore.
They absolutely focused more on online content than in game stuff starting with Gen 5. The dream world, huge pull back from the item based events of Gen 4 and the removal of the battle frontier, safari zone and contests was undoubtedly a change corresponding with an increased online presence

Again, it led to actually interesting battles unlike the stall metas we've had ever since. There were still no fairies so it was a very minor issue compared tot eh one we still have now (started in gen 6)

I already addressed this. There was not a lot online stuff in Gen 5 and it most certainly didn't detract from postgame. The battle frontier wa replaced by five other facilities in Unova, and it had other non-online activities in a slew of postgame tasks. Item based events were still present in Gen 5 but not in subsequent games.

In Pokemon's case, it made no sense. What's the point of resetting the franchise if endless more generations are inevitable? Those will always look back to the original.

Wrong. Gen 5 just has a large enough new roster that it was able to use new Pokémon for every role instead of leaning on Kanto. It isn’t like Johto that doesn’t have Ben have to is own fossil for some fricking reason

TLDR. Game freak on some level knows they fricked with Johto but rather than fix it, they made an anti-Johto, but Genwunners thee a tantrum due to hot getting another doormat to walk all over and now the franchise is in the crapper
