>Massacred the best multiplayer feature for the most unrelatable characters in the series. >Lost the grid tile map style to become one of the worst maps in the entire series. >Colors were so bad in the rainbow generation they had to redo the first route to add more color to it.
SwSh was just as bad but had enough QoL for me to just move there and stay there.
In terms of characters, all I'll way is Unova and Alola walked so SV could run because goddamn the character focused gens were shit until SV.
You have a point, i did find SM frustrating in progression and the characters even though they should have had the best and memorable personalities… they were kinda lost to the robotic style.
On another note though, SM has given me the most Pokémon to love. Usually I only liked maybe 5 per generation and SM gave me 20+. I also liked the character designs, and the overall ambience of the game itself. There’s literally nowhere in SV that makes me feel as warm and welcomed like I felt in SM.
Speaking of, I also loved xy which is an unpopular opinion. I know a good amount of people hate megas but it was so good to see designs taken so much further.
Unplayable games (I confirm that after replaying UltraSun last summer) and incredibly slow.
But at least, last time that the character design of the characters was all right and very Pokémon-like.
Gen 8 characters look like they are from another franchise and don’t let me even start on Gen 9 ones.
No anon, that hasn't changed. This is just a bunch of dedicated shitposters from discord.
There was an undeniable decline in quality starting with ORAS. The decline continued until BDSP and finally ended in Legends.
SV, while not anything to write home about, are an improvement over SwSh. Next game will make it more clear if things are looking up or if they'll go down again.
>There was an undeniable decline in quality starting with ORAS.
I haven't played XY, but I think ORAS only problem was the lack of the battle frontier. If it had a battle frontier, it would be easily the best game after the DS generation.
BDSP was a lazy remake, that could be barely acceptable with again the battle frontier. In this case there is no reason to play them instead of Platinum. Still, maybe because I grew up with Gen I and II, I still prefer more the ones that have a traditional gameplay style than SV.
I always thought XY was passable. It's one of the games to introduce the most new stuff of the entire franchise. There was no third version and, it having post game, was expected (at the time first versions only had a battle tower at most) but it left the next game with a responsibility to have postgame.
ORAS' lack of Emerald enhancements, lack of Battle Frontier, and recycling the Battle Maison, left a bad taste in people's mouth. It gave the impression of laziness and the "kid's these days want to use phones, not play games" quote from Masuda only added to that.
BDSP didn't get as badly trashed because they fell back of Legends, and the game being good saved it from the hate SwSh got.
>ORAS' lack of Emerald enhancements, lack of Battle Frontier, and recycling the Battle Maison
Don't forget that it even cut some RS features and locations. As a remake ORAS' shortcomings are inexcusable.
>removes the best bottom screen in the series >replaces bottom screen with a yokai watch rotom >online functions are now not available unless you warp into the shitty festival place >robotic walk animations >no exploration >game holds your hand and doesn't let go until after you get to the Battle Tree >Battle Tree is a recycled Battle Maison, which was a recycled Battle Tower >no postgame >Z-moves are awful >soundtrack is awful >intrusive cutscenes and text dumps throughout the entire game >overabundance of waifushit >despite waifu characters having plenty of facial models, the main character had a soulless wide eyed smile 99% of the game >the battle royal shit was so bad they've ignored it since >game lags >USUM are outright scams that used false advertisement since they didn't want to reveal how bad the games were
I don't think so anon. SV is unironically better than Gen 7.
SM are truly fantastic and I refuse to apologize for them. Playing Moon right now. Characters, music, dialogue, Pokemon, menu, gameplay, are all top notch.
I started playing them for the first time recently. Not terribly thus far. Since Hoenn is my favorite region (judging by environment), the tropical setting of Sun&Moon resonates with me to a degree. There are things I wish were there like local weather phenomena (not observed thus far) or hidden bases. There is so much handholding but I guess I take the journey until the end
>local weather phenomena
There is overworld weather and in SOS battles different weather can call different Pokemon so it's extremely helpful. >hidden bases
No bases but you can upgrade festival plaza and Pokepelago which is useful.
Gen 7 is the worst gen and i'm tired of pretending it's not. It feels like playing an anime with the amount of cutscenes and muh characters it has. The new designs introduced in S/M are so fricking bad, it is unreal, there are like at most 5 good designs in this dex and all the remaining ones are stupid tropical themed gimmicks or just plain ugly, this dex really lacks something and i don't know what it is. I hope i will be tired of Pokemon when people will start to ask for a remake of S/M, i don't ever want to go back to the Alola corridor shithole. And don't even get me started on Rotom. I. Fricking. Hate. These. Games. The stupid rival with its giant smile I HATE HIM FRICK YOU. I dislike S/M so much, the Ultra Beasts are so stupid "but but they are le cool because le strange!!", the buff mosquito looks like a cartoon character it isn't a Pokemon, disgusting wienerroach girl. I HATE S/M AND ALOLA.
Yea the cutscenes killed this game. Agreed on the new designs too, a lot are mid. But the story my god, it was soooo slow and tedious, this game was definitely aimed for children (all pokemon are but this one is a notch above the rest)
>The days were at least you can play with every Pokemon and the online community was relatively respected and respectful.
Unironically yes, please take me back. At least the 3DS era had years of playability in it's own right.
>the online community was relatively respected and respectful.
No the frick it wasn't newbie. Black folk were still crying about Gen 5 and Gen 4, making magum opus threads every 24 hours.
>both inhabited by socially maladjusted losers who never go outside (like me) >both inhabited by people who get into endless arguments over the dumbest shit imaginable >both have decent influence on the english-speaking Internet, for better or for worse

I miss it too, anon
the games haven't disappeared
you can still play them
Worst game, mustve been your first
Funny that each new generation is so bad that the highly criticized previous generations are now seen with nostalgia.
People still hate gen 5,6 and 8 for very good reasons
5 is good though.
good games ugly pokemon
Yawngay, you forgot to include gen 7. Be less obvious next time.
The most hated gens are 6, 7, and 8 (not including PLA).
No anon, that hasn't changed. This is just a bunch of dedicated shitposters from discord.

SwSh will never be remembered fondly because SV are marginally better so SwSh will forever be the worst games in the series.
Well, the girls in SwSh are a bit better than the ones of SV.
It's a cycle.

Gen 7 was the worst generation
Gen 7 bores me to tears. Least replayable gen by far.
Also, the pokemon are ugly. Just in that image alone Bewear, Mudsdale, Gumshoos, and Togedemaru all look like shit
>The Lillie Show
no thanks
One of my favorite things to come out of those abortions.
Ruined Zygarde. Complete forme should be permanent. Frick route 16 and power shitstruct
SM are truly fantastic and I refuse to apologize for them. Playing Moon right now. Characters, music, dialogue, Pokemon, menu, gameplay, are all top notch.
genuinely what is wrong with you? What do you enjoy about staring at text with no freedom for hours on end?

The best thing about Alola are the girls and the doujinshis they gave us. Absolute glorious e-girls.

Someone gets it. It sucks because hawaii is one of the most beautiful and ecologically diverse places on earth and GF captured none of that
>we will never have e-girls as sexy as this again
it’s not fair
No! You sit and suffer through Gen 9
worst pokemon games ever created
most sovlful generation
