Generative AI Will Account for Half of Game Development in 5-10 Years.

Summary: A new Bain survey of 25 gaming execs globally predicts generative AI will grow from <5% of game dev now to 50%+ in 5-10 years. Most believe it will enhance quality and speed, but not reduce costs or talent needs much.

AI could free up developer time for higher-value creative work in storytelling and interactivity.- Integration and IP challenges.

What are Ganker's thoughts?
Will AI further streamlining and democratizing gamedev give rise to better games or worse?

The truth is that anti-ai morons want to gatekeep art using "the human soul" or the "human creative process" or even "intelectual property" (regarding how ais are trained) as an excuse.
The reality is that modern art has been shit for more than 50 years and they are doing it to preserve their economic gigs or have parts of the market hostage.
You are no different than workers wanting to destroy machinery to avoid being replaced by said machine.

lol no. the legal pushback has begun. AI won't be financially feasible for commercial use, just as i said at the beginning of all this.
also, if you look past the blatant stealing to create derivative works, AI still isn't really capable of doing much beyond what it used to do. the hype has been pushed by nvidia calling every new feature "AI" when it clearly isn't, in order to push this hype.
why? well it's not a coincidence that "AI" suddenly became the next big fad right after crypto shit the bed. nvidia has to sell those GPUs somehow since they completely lost the console market to APUs.

The elites will have robots doing mostly the delicate labor and corporate. Humans are still the best laborers by far when it comes to menial tasks, just ask your friend who works at the Amazon warehouse.

Progress is good, AI is progress

Oh no we're democratizing access to the arts, oh no we're automating difficult things, oh no we can make advances in robotics/medicine/research, oh no personal tutors for everyone, oh no its never been easier to learn something new, oh no its easy to develop new skills, oh no we can analyze information beyond the capabilities of the human brain, oh no maybe we'll all be able to drink mimosas while relaxing on a beach because society is maintained by AI, oh no the world is going to get better why isn't everyone against it CHANGE IS SCARY REEEEEEEEEEEE

The main thing that will be a boon to developers is AI generated code. Hopefully this is unseat lazy ass indie dev coders from holding back the entirety of the production.

I am sculpting as we speak
AI will have a hard time replicating what I have planned, art/game-wise, because what I have planned does not exist yet.
If AI could code and do the more technical stuff for me, my unique dream game may just become a reality

Exactly. Coding was the main set back that repeatedly occured during the golden modding age of ~2006-2012 when Source Engine and a few other engines were king. Everyone could make the assets but it was usually a cabal of coders that dictated whether a mod would even release or not.

If it gets too bad and it really does become hard to find enjoyable games then I'll just stop buying new ones. I don't think it's a big deal. Million games exist already.
