Whack a Mole evolves into Whack a Mole x3. Pidgey just gets bigger. Seel is a Seal. Spearow is literally my mom's bird. You can't get a wild Mr. Mime in any version. 90% of the pokemon in the game are unsuable shitmons. Nidoran M sweeps the game solo. So on amd so forth.
8 brown birds, multiple redundant evolutionary lines, and 33% of the dex is poison trash. Kantogays really do only love it for the nostalgia.

they're the last sprite games and 3DS is when pokemon noticeably started cutting corners because gamefreak was and still is unprepared for 3D development. gen 5 is nothing special, pretty average for a pokemon game, but it's the last "real" pokemon game and naturally anyone who likes the newer shit is going to resent it for being the most recent point of comparison. if 2D ended with gen 4 it would get the same treatment.
