You would think the sole presence of males in its roster would make you realize that before you even play it.

also after finishing 1.0 in star rail I had like 140 permanent rolls and 150 event ones so I expected a little more from genshin I guess.

I had to quick start the whatever event yesterday with the flying creature, because I hadn't played that area at all. Didn't feel like I missed much, at most they went to some place and were like remember when we did a thing here. And a bunch of talk about how the creature is now some caretaker or something, I'll have forgotten all that stuff anyway by the time I actually play that questline

It wasn't that special honestly, the challenges were basically "match this picture to the scenery", or "fly through these rings for a minute". There was one minigame where you had to make hilichurls run away by dropping some bomb thing on objects in the area to make a thing happen, that was something new and different at least

You missed nothing. The quests you skipped to do the event were just wordswordswordswordswordswords filler story while mihoyo sets up Fontaine. When you do get around to it at least do the questline for that area up to the point where you unlock the pool that lets you turn in the area pickups for goodies.

You can't have perfect balance with an ever increasing pool of characters. Besides, characters spontaneously become meta again just because they have synergy with some new shit that gets released.

I only bring it up because it's the difference in relevancy cycles between Genshin and Zelda, which don't really have much in common nowadays. Zelda will in certainty fall off January 1, 2024 because it's a one-and-done singleplayer experience and GoTY is the last time people will have giant debates about it. Genshin is updated every 40 days and will continued to be discussed patch by patch until end of service. Genshin will technically "fall off" more times then Zelda will, but that's just the nature of them having completely different game design.
