i'm pretty sure in childe's story quest teucer says his backyard is filled with multiple broken ruin guards that childe has sent him for his birthdays. so he has probably been doing it for a long time, possibly before they ever met.

during wriothesley's story quest there is a gem that causes anyone who touches it to experience traumatic memories that paimon touches, but she doesnt reveal what she saw.
Technically Raiden does as well. Every Inazuman sword character uses some of her moves in their own sword style with a weaboo long name to match, meanwhile Raiden's normal attacks are simply called "Origin"
She also sheathes her sword blade down because she's using the much older Tachi instead of a newer Katana

What a fricking useless event. What is even the point of bringing all these characters together if you're going to do frickall with them? Chiori and Chevreuse are the only standouts and the event could have just been about them. Whenever they add lectors/shield enemies it just ruins the entire thing since it really forces you into one or two elements and geo/physical is just not viable at all against them
Stuff like Thundering and Tulpa only stop you from using a single element so you can actually play who you want
Heralds and Lectors have always been a brain check, those Abyss cycles have always had lower DPS requirements to compensate
Was pretty funny in 3.7 though, they wanted you to use burgeon teams, but because metagays kept jerking off hyperbloom and aggravate no one actually had good burgeon teams to use and were filtered hard
The bat one? I use Nilou bloom on it just like the current abyss rotation. Surprisingly easy since I don't have to dodge because I can out heal its damage.

Follow picture related's path to quickly unlock Dendro Traveler. Just ignore everything you can and don't fight anything. Dendro Traveler is significantly better than any Traveler you can have at that point though you will need to be Geo Traveler for puzzles in Liyue. D.Traveler will also work really well with Lisa.
Noelle will be decent enough at the start for damage but Geo is kind of rough for elemental reactions and doesn't work with Dendro so keep that in mind.
Early game is about basic attacks while occasionally using your elemental skills and learning how elements mix, mid game is elemental reactions with your skills with a burst here and there, and later on you'll be using bursts far more often than you do right now and relying pretty much solely on elemental reactions.
If you don't want to get Dendro then use Noelle or Traveler (Especially if you're on Playstation for the sword) as your "main" with Lisa, Kaeya, and your pick of the fourth though Barbara is probably ideal.
If you do want to get Dendro Traveler then D.Traveler, Lisa, Barbara, and probably Sucrose would be your best bet since Barbara creates blooms with D.Traveler and then Lisa can Hyperbloom them or just Quicken off of D.Traveler.
Save your pulls for Raiden who is coming out soon as she'll help you out considerably even though she requires Inazuma materials to upgrade.
Yes, don't use them for anything else. It's a massive waste for resin reups unless you're a beluga whale.
Master Stardust (The golden one) can be used on some of the starter characters like Lisa, Kaeya, or Amber because they're rarely in any banners at all otherwise only use them for the pink fates. The weapons on rotation are pretty bad.
Stardust (The silver one) is useful for the white powder thing you can get (Istaroth something I think?) and the monthly fates. None of the other items are worth it at all.
I gave him two options, if he doesn't want to go for D.Traveler or if he does. The rest is just basic team building based on his question (Who should I level). Exactly what's wrong with those suggestions? Pretty much everyone nowadays tells you to go get D.Traveler because it's objectively the best option for a beginner and requires nothing but like 10 minutes from you to run to a SotS.
I think progression should be natural, not speedran because muh meta. Exploring the whole map before you're even done with mondstadt sucks the soul out.
Not to mention that after a while he's gonna be left waiting for updates like the rest of us. That's boring as hell. I wish I still had content to clear, but I've been playing for a year

I've been playing for 3 years and still has a shitload to do, from world quests to chest hunting, secrets and all. Hasn't even unlocked all the teleports in sumeru desert.
Though for 1.5 year I had a harsh work schedule that let me play like 15 mins a day around post inazuma AQ, which started pushing me behind everyone and I never managed to catch up since. Hell I only finished the inazuma tree like a month ago.
Though Fontaine really reinvigorated me.

Keep playing and hoard primogems. Get Raiden Shogun in a week or so. Until then use Lumine (traveler), and XIangling (you can obtain her from the abyss meme). You can level up sucrose and Noelle though, they are good units. Barbara can be good as well.
You can get Xiangling and Collei for free by beating floors 3 and 4 in the end game tryhard dungeon. They're really early rewards so you don't have to go really far into it, simply overleveling is enough
Amber is good for puzzles and her ult deals with abyss mage shields but other than that she sucks.
Noelle is a noob trap, she's good early game but you'll need another 6 copies of her to make her do damage in later areas. Her shield is still ok.
Lisa might be good but I never figured out how to have fun using her, the skill is just too clunky.
Rest are all great.

Definitely don't roll for raiden or yoimiya lmao You won't be able to level them up for ages. From those characters Sucrose is the most useful but I like using Kaeya too.
Roll for Navia and then take a long stroll to Fontaine to get her ascension mats.
She's Geo and can ungabunga through anything the early game throws at you.
I also disagree with rolling for Raiden in a few days as her ascension materials are locked behind Inazuma which means you may not even be able to access them for a significant period of time (depending on how often you play / how much you focus the main story)

A new player wouldn't be able to make ideal use of her at even a basic level. They have nothing to help with Crystalize reactions outside of what, Barbara's E? They wouldn't have any decent weapons for her and the event for a decent one is over in a few days (I guess you could rush it but I think rushing it requires AR 25), they'd need to grind the underwater animals for weeks, and who knows if they'd even be able to do the dancers reasonably at such a low level considering how one always runs away from you and the other damages you near them. The water would be like the only easy thing for them to obtain.
If you're willing to live off of a Barbara E into Navia E then NA x4 into another E I guess it could work? But you'd effectively turn the game into Navia Impact and not really grasp any other elemental effects since you have to go for Crystallize as her specifically.

Absolutely not, I used her for months. She's effectively a better Fischl since the E lasts extremely long and procs on any normal attack which you're gonna be using all the time as abeginner. Yes, the initial investment into her for a new player is gonna be ass since you need to do the entire quest for the Thunder Manifestation, but I was still running around Enkanomiya with Kaeya at level 40 so I don't think that really matters. Yelan and Xiangling vaping were the only reason I even cleared that content.

Imma stop you right there, Raiden's E does frick all damage and barely generates any energy, it only serves to give a minor bump to burst damage
Most of Raiden's kit is locked behind her burst, which is a pain in the ass to use in the overworld because by the time she's moderately built she's 1 shotting everything and can't restore her monstrous 90 energy burst before it ends
And of course like you said there's the whole "needing to go to Seirai Island" thing with her boss locked behind several dozen hours of archon quests and a world quest
With Navia they can just TP to Fontaine, and do the event for the Claymore, skipping the archon quest if they feel like ruining the story for themselves. Or just use a Prototype Animus. Barbara's E is a pretty effective way to apply an element, or Kayea, or Lisa, or Amber
It's not like Navia's bullets run out in seconds, you can run around with them loaded up in the overworld. Her E does stupid damage, even when underleveled and without bullets, a level 60 Navia was 1 shotting hilichurls in my AR60 world, admittedly with leveled Glad artifacts

What? I was hitting for 6k-10k per hit and reactions would do even more. That wasn't even with good EOSF gear it was just random underleveled garbage I had. Fair, but this leads to the issue of the person never learning any elemental reactions other than Crystalize and basing their entire comp around it. Kaeya only works if you use his burst which you won't be doing regularly and the same applies to Lisa. Even in Enkanomiya (I believe I was WL7 or 8 with Yelan being my only 80) my bursts were not even remotely on cooldown after 2-3 fights outside of Yelan herself and that I attribute to all the dashing.

I literally have a C2 Raiden. Her skill's coordinated attack does 75% damage when crowned. Navia's skill does 710% damage when crowned, that doesn't even include her Arkhe follow up attack

You're right, I must have been fighting lower level stuff or had a buff and just misremembered. This is crowned and I am using the PJS if that matters. My EoSF artifacts are awful so take this as unoptimized.
For a beginner I still would argue she would be better overall because it encourages using other characters in addition to working out later on. I mean, admittedly both Navia and Raiden should work out fine it's just do you want to be tied to Geo or not, essentially.

One hit restores almost all her energy. And I'm an ER-let
It's a 20% bonus, but the 4pc affect doesn't work in other party members, so you need someone other than Raiden to use it. Now you have 2 bursts to manage at AR25

-You can't swap the sibling that you pick at the start of the game so pick carefully.
-Save primogems for weeks until you have over 14.4k and see a character that you really really like. (14400 being enough to guarantee a 50/50 chance to get said character, while 28800 is full guarantee assuming the worst luck in the planet)
-Don't use them on ''Wanderlust'' banner, only spend blue fates in this.
-Roll on Noelle Banner until it goes away.
-Don't rush the game for events or achievements, this is great so enjoy it at your pace
-Always pick up enemy drops
-Lock 3 star weapons you find inside chests
-Use your Resin as soon as you unlock it. Not the fragile resin tho, save those until you hit adventure rank 45
-Always pick up elemental butterflies if you see one.
-Reach Reputation Level 3 in Liyue to unlock Condensed Resin, use it for Leylines/Domain.
-Try to reach 20000 realm points in your teapot ASAP when you unlock that feature.
There's two lines of thought: the prettiest one (Viola) or the one attached to the land where the event is happening (Brilliance).
But ultimately none of it matters because that thing is so annoying With that said, I'm getting the fontainian one
I would have like Sorush better if that quest wasn't Sanskirt word salad. They also could have paced the desert expansions better instead of releasing 3 of them in a row. Maybe hold off the 3.4 area until later some time in Fontaine?
I just think they're a bit too large, or I suppose the paper guy would be pretty small. I liked having Sparx zipping around in Spyro but I always end up getting tired of these pets in this game. But another cool function they could have was if they slightly pointed towards treasure chests instead of using the compass manually

The first event let you pick one of three colors, then each new event added one new color to pick from. Even if you did all the events you'll always have two left over.

I think it helps to take breaks, I've missed a few events here and there so I guess I'm bricked or whatever, but it does wonders to avoid burnout and with the way I pace out content, I almost always still have exploration and maybe a world quest to do if I feel like doing it, and I make sure to do dailies and welkin.
I binge explore every new area as it is released, gobbling up whatever content is there and then I'll take a break
Will log in and do commissions on my commute or do events as they unlock (now that they can replace commissions). People that try to make Genshin the only game they play are weirdos
I think I started like two weeks after it came out, still playing but I'm not into that daily stuff. Unless there's a new area I just play events and stuff. A lot of people probably burn themselves out because they keep doing commissions and spending resin every day, until they just hate the entire game

You can't get two standard weapons in a row. When you get a standard 5* the next 5* will be a 50/50 between the two banner weapons (and that does carry over). It's still a scam, but the worst case if starting fresh is you end up with a standard 5* and both banner weapons if you have to go the full path to get your target.
Yep, pure save period while I wait and see how bad the damage is for Cloud Retainer and what Chiori does. But I'm still ultimately saving for Arlecchino the most, so will only get one of those two before her at most.

Oh wow, after 5 times going into 80+ rolls to get who i wanted (failing coinflip twice), i got chevy in just 13. Maybe now i can save up again like in the good old days where i didn't have to literally check every pixel of land for quests and chests scrounging primos since i was way, way luckier up until around late Sumeru.

1.0 characters are just built different.
Early catalyst users also have weirdly high charge attack modifiers. Crowned Lisa, Ningguang, and Barbara sitting at 319%, 313%, and 299% respectively while Rizzlee is only at 275%
That's actually on the higher end, most are between 200-250%, yes even 5 star main DPS' like Wanderer

To me Fontaine seemed like one of the worst places to live outside of Inazuma. The thing is that Sumeru has Rishboland Tigers and scorpions, sure, and if you go into the desert you have a 50/50 shot the Eremites you meet are friendly, but the deadliest places are primarily only near the pyramids. If you don't touch the pyramids of the giant mountain you're more or less safe as a civilian. Paths are mostly clear, Hilichurls, Specters, and basic Shrooms are the only things impeding your day-to-day life, with Hilichurls sticking around Aranara areas more than anything, and if you are actually venturing into the rainforest you are either a Vision wielder or are paying Eremites/Forest Rangers for guidance.
Liyue only gets dangerous if you go near ancient ruins, otherwise Vishaps are in very specific areas you can easily steer clear of. There's tons of beaten paths and it's safe enough for people to travel on basically all of them barring near the Chasm.
Mondstadt only gets dangerous if you start venturing out from the Dawn Winery, Springvale, or Mondstadt itself but the Dawn Winery path is well traveled and constantly has Adventurers leading people or the Favonious Knights doing stuff.
Inazuma is a complete wash outside of the main island and maybe Watatsume. I have no idea how they even farm or supply themselves short of taking ships everywhere. Like, three out of five of the islands are borderline uninhabitable or deadly.

Eremites are mainly in their own little groups so you can easily just steer clear of them or go another path, and like I said, if you're going into those areas it's an extremely high chance you've hired an Eremite group or Forest Rangers to defend you or your goods. The land is also fertile, so you can literally just live innawoods or even innadesert and be safe for your entire life.
Rishboland Tigers are definitely a threat, but they primarily sit in low to the ground trees and very rarely go out for water.
After that you have shrooms and Specters, Specters seemingly being the more dangerousof the two. Hilichurls again primarily sequester themselves to Aranara houses so you'd generally be safe in avoiding them.

That's why I said the desert's a mess and why everyone hires Eremites if they need to get anywhere. Even then the old man in the hills farts around there growing his flowers without much issue. Most of the major threads are located near the pyramids, so unless you have some reason to be at the pyramids you won't have to deal with a majority of the threats. Scorpions, birds, and floating snakes are gonna be your primary concern which, again, is why you hire Eremites for that.
If you can't deal with that life then live in the rainforest and grow random crap. The worst that could happen is a Rishboland Tiger wandering to your land or some shrooms getting attracted.

You only have to hire protection if you're actually going into dangerous parts of the woods or wandering the desert, neither of which you would be doing unless you had a specific reason to. There's no reason why you couldn't just build a random house in the rainforest as there's so much arable land there for plants, and even if we take the fact the world is scaled down there's still massive open land even near the major hubs of the rainforest.

The desert is pretty much a death sentence. If you don't get killed by the creatures and eremites (they even have those consecrated beasts), you will mostly likely perish due to the weather

Maguu Kenki island has the entire electrified cut still actively electrified, and the entire Mikage Furnace area is a hellhole you can barely traverse without Hilichurls or samurai trying to kill you while also being almost impossible to traverse the actual furnace part due to the bridges being destroyed. The only remotely safe place is the barracks since all the abandoned houses have a bunch of samurai squatting killing everyone near them, and there's the Consecrated Beast near Maguu Kenki but no one really has a reason to go near the bones.
Thunder Manifestation island is still filled with ruin mechs absolutely everywhere, and if they're not there then it's either the Fatui or Hilichurls. There's not a single safe space in that location outside of arguably the Fatui area if you make a deal with them and Neko's shrine.
Tsurumi Island can be visited now but it's an Abyss Wolf hellhole in about a third of the island while the other two-thirds are either Hilichurls or ruin mechs. Where would you even put a house safely? Yeah, the ghosts are all gone, but there's nowhere to really stick a house.

Because it's primarily a local trading hub for the Eremites and meant to be a transition to reach Aaru Village. Unless you are an Eremite why would you be traveling alone to Aaru Village? It's already got a bad reputation because of decades of Akademia nonsense so no regular people will want to go there, and anyone wanting to go farther is either a trader/researcher who would have a guide anyway or an adventurer who can defend themselves.
I sincerely doubt normal people even go past Aaru considering the only people you meet up there are researchers or disgraced researchers, Treasure Hoarders, and you're outright told no one's use that path from Sumeru for who knows how long when going to Fontaine.

Jakob was still around up until recently and was still actively threatening Fontaine with destruction so I wouldn't really call that "ended".
A lot of the stuff I was talking about (The underbelly of Fontaine city, the mafia running around unchecked, the broken bridges and buildings, etc) also aren't really a gameplay to story disconnect. We can literally see how broken Fontaine is. Sure, after Traveler arrived now people can more easily visit the Merusea Village, the Fontaine Institute is more or less fixed, the Synth distribution is ended, the Pasiv stuff fixed the massive gusts of wind and the dying tree, and the whole issue of everyone who is Fontainian turning into Oceanids has passed. It's still gonna take decades for them to fix everything that was broken due to the Fontaine Institute and we don't even know how well things will go in general.
Yeah, we have that sick lady on the top of the hill from the event who has a doctor visit her seemingly regularly, and you also have the old man waiting for his dead daughter on that other hill living peacefully, but then on the other hand you have the brother and sister whose brother has to work with the mafia to make ends meat where they live while the whole Steambird scandal has the poor woman living also seemingly making ends meat to feed her and her kid on that one port.
It seems like unless you're pretty decently learned about procedures or have actively worked with technology you'll have a harder time getting any sort of job at the city itself. I mean, look at Chiori. They stated she had to fight tooth and nail to keep that place afloat until she made enough connections.

Wouldn't that make getting the character you want more difficult? You can "lose" twice on the weapon banner before you get the weapon you want. But only once in the character banner.

My crackpot theory on why electro visions stopped going out is that the Shogun's Vision Hunt Decree violated some clause in the Archon contract and triggered some automated function to revoke Ei's link to the Electro Throne. The Throne is currently vacant as a result.
I think it's really odd that nothing in the game has referenced Natlan in any way. We got a bunch of knowledge about Inazuma, Sumeru and Fontaine back in 1x to 4x as they neared, either as world building from NPCs and lore, or hints before the regions dropped, as well as tidbits of Scheznaya.

Natlan adventurers gotta be fricking hardcore compared to the rest, since their domains are suicide runs. The guys there are probably even buffer than Fatui and Eremites.
From a design wise idea i find that hard to imagine, unless Fontaine is literally a plateau in a lake. For all we know, there may still be regions "untamed" too, so if they wanted to connect Natlan and Szessy, they could just made the region between them some uncivilized wilderness. Which would also make for a decent late game exploration region since presumably everything there is big, angry and will kill you.
i still think natlan is south of sumeru's desert otherwise it doesnt really make much sense why we havent seen anyone from natlan yet. if it bordered fontaine and snezhnaya it would seem like the barrier to entry and exit wouldnt be that extreme, but if you had to cross a huge frick off desert to get to it, it would make more sense why we dont see anyone from there.

Leaks in general have been plugged for 1 patch now due the closing of official betas. Any leak that is accurate happens only on prepatch days, where dataminers can mine the added data.

I doubt it. Even if this was ever genuine, things have changed too much to be held credible, like Fontaine being an actual island nation, or that Celestia don't actually have a set stationary place or "city".
Hell Inazuma itself should be proof that the plan has changed a lot.
From 1x we already knew that Sumeru was southwest of Liuye and Inazuma an island japan nation. So this pic is at best educated guesses.

Me too, actually. I really enjoyed the desert, and found all 3 parts of is distinct and cool enough to not feel like it was just "the same old shit".
And since early Inazuma, every region added has been frankly refreshing to me. I trust these people to make new additions feel and look different enough to be enjoyable by the aesthetics itself.
What desert did you like the most? I also think every desert has enough to not blend together. The second and third part had wonderful world quests, and the first one wasn't as strong imo but I loved the exploring the pyramids
NTA but the 3.4 desert was my favourite. An actual dangerous place with a serious quest to match. Just wish the sandstorm was actually threatening

It's hard for me to pick one. The first one had my favorite gimmicks and visuals. Like the invisible walls, pyramids. I like the puzzles and the clearance system.
The second one has the best quest and Jeht was much better.
The last one was just so good with all the lore and the music was really something else. Also Sorush
I enjoy the first desert region for being so full of ruins and arid landscaping. It's both vastly different from other regions, as well as being very novel to me who lives in the snowy mountainous north of the world. The quests there also generally feeds into some "indiana jones" aspects that i love. The background lore, while too high IQ for me to grasp the whole deal, is satisfying too.
The second desert, being a cliffy mountain was original as well, and i loved the big WQs in it, but it was less about exploring old ruins and more helping the world right now feel. So for me, i would rank D1 slightly above D2.
As for D3, i've been saving it for a slow period should i catch up with all the stuff. And Fontaine really ignited that fire in my ass as i adore the region, and the rewards feels so much better.

Not at all, as i found out. But i still walked through it just for the feeling before entering Fontaine as said.
I understand that a lot of lore regarding Fontaine is dropped in it, but i'm not a very smart man, so it would all have flown over my head most likely before Fontaine, and forgotten. Now maybe i can do the quests and attach it to something from my favourite region. You know, hindsight knowledge and all.
But boy did i enjoy walking through the third desert region and seeing all those cool ass sights on my way to Fontaine. Extremely beautiful region.
It's hard to choose between the second and the first for me. I really liked learning about King Deshret and his civlization in the first desert, but the fall of Gurabad and my favourite little racist Liloupar were also really interesting.
I did enjoy the third desert (even if the dialog got close to Aranara tier confusing). The notes from the Institute's expeditions to Khaenriah and the reveal of Egeria's death were really cool. Not to mention the gate to Khaenriah itself was a big "oh shit oh shit oh shit" moment when I first stumbled on them

The notes were such an awesome touch. I remember reading them randomly and them piecing stuff together which left me with more questions than answers

Enkanomiya is optional so Apep is needed to introduce the concept of the Sovereigns to people and Egeria's death is a central point to the third desert, and the notes you find throughout the third desert from Jakob/Rene's expeditions
Also, the Nymph Dream artifact domain dropped a lot of information related to Fontaine lore. I bet we're soon getting some Natlan lore through artifacts

Considering the average size of new region updates, i assume that the liyue black mine region and sumeru east coast will be together, as either by itself seems rather small. Then again it's not like Mihoyo is above landscaping the low poly regions outside of bound..So it makes sense to bundle it up as a seaway between port Ormos and black cliff, while making the Inazuman sea a little bigger (probably peppered with islands)
It makes sense for Mihoyo to expand outwards, rather than fill in areas. As an open world without any real level restriction, they can't have new players running to Dorman's port or climb mountains to get to Fontaine before Liyue now, could they?
In fact i'm curious to see how Chenyue Vale will work in that regard since it let new players in Liyue get a "shortcut" to Fontaine in terms of plot advacement..

The only place you can't go from the moment you start the game is Inazuma.
A player can walk from Mondstadt, through Liyue, through the Chasm, through Sumeru, across the deserts, and take the elevator up to Fontaine without any issue.
Hell, they're gonna make it easier next patch with Chenyu Vale cutting the trip by like 66%

im just saying neither of them have much in the way of positive things to say about the other harbingers, it could just be that none of them really understand each others personal motivations or values, since none of them seem to be friends, so relying on their word alone on what arlecchino is actually like probably isnt the best idea. what is clear is that she is pretty pragmatic and willing to be ruthless when necessary, based on our own interactions with her and what the game has shown us. doesnt discount the fact that she could also just snap and go full schizo mode at any time though, since both scara and childe seem to agree shes kinda nuts.

Nor do i see her appearing in any Fontaine region either, as she herself diplomatically got the hydro gnosis. It would make no sense for her to be in either nations as a potential enemy any more than Dottore being in Inazuma or Sumeru
Chenyu Vale will not have a weekly boss fight. Just a single regular boss for CR boss mats. That will probably come in 4.6 when her banner is supposed to be released. From here we just need to connect the dots

I feel like the fatuus are more like CIA. We know they're up to bad shit, but even when they got caught spying on European nations some years back, we still let them off with a slap on the wrist, because of diplomatic reasons.
I think the biggest difference is that unlike real life, Fontaine actually arrested Childe, and on seemly bogus grounds. So of course the Fatui had to get involved at that stage. Neither wants conflict with the other, so to keep things cordial compromises had to be made.
As for Arle almost assassinating Furina, she did in fact not assassinate her (and Furina never told anyone about it), thus it's all thought policing.

I think the Fatui as an organization is pretty well written. At some moments they seem like the big fricking uniformed c**ts ruining shit, like in Mondo and Liyue, but then you get the Chasm Fatuis who were helping keeping Liyue safe, or the Fatui in Fontaine assisting Poisson. I mean eventually we might get a "haha we only helped you so you TRUST us!" before betraying everything, but it's far better than the directly evil generic tropes. like the Abyss. or 99% of anime organizations. The Fatuus are shown as humans as well sometimes. I can respect that.

Remember Fontaine being divided into two factions led by Clorinde and Navia or whatever, and Sandrone being the main harbinger of the region? The only thing most leakers are good for is banner order/character designs and element/weapon, and general mechanics, because in terms of them being good or not, most of them can't play the game so it's worthless getting hyped or doomposting before the character is actually on beta.

Yeah, then explains that all that means is you manually set parameters for it to auto-generate a new set for you. The first/quick loadout option just has those parameters selected for you based on player usage data.
i think the leaks from the beta said you could save loadouts for characters, but if you can only save one loadout per character its not great for anyone other than newer players who are constantly swapping artifacts between characters simply because they dont have enough to go around.
kek, i've already seen so many people that are mad about this because it's only one loadout per character. as if they aren't aware that having 4 or 5 different artifact sets set aside for a character isn't representative of the genshin playerbase as a whole at all. the average genshin player doesn't even engage with the abyss, let alone having multiple builds for characters for multiple team comps, and i really dont expect hoyo to cater to the 1% of players who want or need multiple loadout slots. having a genshin optimizer basically built into the game is massively beneficial to probably 90% of the playerbase, if not more.
they are fricking malding right now, meanwhile i'm just thinking thank god people who come co-op with me might not be running the absolute worst artifact combos in the world anymore, because the game will now figure it out for them.

But he still has to use normal attacks to gain stacks of his buff, unless you whaled for C6 Itto of all things and even then there's some rng involved in not consuming the stacks. So while not perfectly suited for him, I think it'll still work as long as the buff itself is good.
Either way though, it's very barebones leaks so far so we'll have to see. I'm sure we'll mysteriously get some clearer leaks in the next week or so just before her beta goes live so the big leakers can milk engagement.
I guess one benefit Itto has over Noelle is that his burst increases his normal attack speed, so at least you'd get more hits in. And I suppose the extra geo dmg boost would be nice as well. Currently I have Albedo in my Itto team since I don't really have any other Geos to throw in there, he does like 20-30k hits but nothing else. I think Chiori would probably be more handy just for pulling enemies closer, and then some extra damage on top of that

Albedo's biggest problem is that constructs explode the second something bigger than a regular hilichurl looks at them
If constructs were more durable then he could actually see some use but as it stands now if you fight any moderately sized enemy then you're better off bringing someone else

Yeah, I'm planning to roll her and will slot her in with my Itto too. My headcanon vibe is they're probably going to want her to work with Navia(who I skipped thinking I was going to roll Cloud Retainer, but I'll get her next time), and to do that, if she requires NAs, they can't really demand too many. I think Navia with her post-skill infusion is throwing out about the same amount as a stack building Itto, so if she's made for her I think he'll be okay too.

I use Navia - Furina - Alpedo - Charlie
but anything works, their resistances are negligible, I used to run Neuvillette before Navia released and the whale fell just as easily
While i coop it most of the time, i use Furina and neuv generally, with Eula (for the whale) and kokomi for healing.
I am sure there's far more optimal teams, but my eula's phys works against any resistance, and Furina/Neuv duo slays the dude inside the whale ez

Stuff like Thundering and Tulpa only stop you from using a single element so you can actually play who you want
Heralds and Lectors have always been a brain check, those Abyss cycles have always had lower DPS requirements to compensate

Any general tips
Follow picture related's path to quickly unlock Dendro Traveler. Just ignore everything you can and don't fight anything. Dendro Traveler is significantly better than any Traveler you can have at that point though you will need to be Geo Traveler for puzzles in Liyue. D.Traveler will also work really well with Lisa.
Noelle will be decent enough at the start for damage but Geo is kind of rough for elemental reactions and doesn't work with Dendro so keep that in mind.
Early game is about basic attacks while occasionally using your elemental skills and learning how elements mix, mid game is elemental reactions with your skills with a burst here and there, and later on you'll be using bursts far more often than you do right now and relying pretty much solely on elemental reactions.
If you don't want to get Dendro then use Noelle or Traveler (Especially if you're on Playstation for the sword) as your "main" with Lisa, Kaeya, and your pick of the fourth though Barbara is probably ideal.
If you do want to get Dendro Traveler then D.Traveler, Lisa, Barbara, and probably Sucrose would be your best bet since Barbara creates blooms with D.Traveler and then Lisa can Hyperbloom them or just Quicken off of D.Traveler.
Save your pulls for Raiden who is coming out soon as she'll help you out considerably even though she requires Inazuma materials to upgrade.

Yes, don't use them for anything else. It's a massive waste for resin reups unless you're a beluga whale.
Master Stardust (The golden one) can be used on some of the starter characters like Lisa, Kaeya, or Amber because they're rarely in any banners at all otherwise only use them for the pink fates. The weapons on rotation are pretty bad.
Stardust (The silver one) is useful for the white powder thing you can get (Istaroth something I think?) and the monthly fates. None of the other items are worth it at all.

Exactly what's wrong with those suggestions? Pretty much everyone nowadays tells you to go get D.Traveler because it's objectively the best option for a beginner and requires nothing but like 10 minutes from you to run to a SotS.
I think progression should be natural, not speedran because muh meta. Exploring the whole map before you're even done with mondstadt sucks the soul out.

I've been playing for 3 years and still has a shitload to do, from world quests to chest hunting, secrets and all. Hasn't even unlocked all the teleports in sumeru desert.
Though for 1.5 year I had a harsh work schedule that let me play like 15 mins a day around post inazuma AQ, which started pushing me behind everyone and I never managed to catch up since. Hell I only finished the inazuma tree like a month ago.
Though Fontaine really reinvigorated me.

You can get Xiangling and Collei for free by beating floors 3 and 4 in the end game tryhard dungeon. They're really early rewards so you don't have to go really far into it, simply overleveling is enough
Amber is good for puzzles and her ult deals with abyss mage shields but other than that she sucks.
Noelle is a noob trap, she's good early game but you'll need another 6 copies of her to make her do damage in later areas. Her shield is still ok.
Lisa might be good but I never figured out how to have fun using her, the skill is just too clunky.
Rest are all great.

Definitely don't roll for raiden or yoimiya lmao You won't be able to level them up for ages. From those characters Sucrose is the most useful but I like using Kaeya too.
Roll for Navia and then take a long stroll to Fontaine to get her ascension mats.
She's Geo and can ungabunga through anything the early game throws at you.
I also disagree with rolling for Raiden in a few days as her ascension materials are locked behind Inazuma which means you may not even be able to access them for a significant period of time (depending on how often you play / how much you focus the main story)

Second. Raiden is also ass in the overworld, she's basically just a meta pick for the Abyss and nothing else. She may be meta, but she's terrible for a new player who's still in Liyue. Navia or even Yoimiya are better picks

A new player wouldn't be able to make ideal use of her at even a basic level. They have nothing to help with Crystalize reactions outside of what, Barbara's E? They wouldn't have any decent weapons for her and the event for a decent one is over in a few days (I guess you could rush it but I think rushing it requires AR 25), they'd need to grind the underwater animals for weeks, and who knows if they'd even be able to do the dancers reasonably at such a low level considering how one always runs away from you and the other damages you near them. The water would be like the only easy thing for them to obtain.
If you're willing to live off of a Barbara E into Navia E then NA x4 into another E I guess it could work? But you'd effectively turn the game into Navia Impact and not really grasp any other elemental effects since you have to go for Crystallize as her specifically.

Absolutely not, I used her for months. She's effectively a better Fischl since the E lasts extremely long and procs on any normal attack which you're gonna be using all the time as abeginner. Yes, the initial investment into her for a new player is gonna be ass since you need to do the entire quest for the Thunder Manifestation, but I was still running around Enkanomiya with Kaeya at level 40 so I don't think that really matters. Yelan and Xiangling vaping were the only reason I even cleared that content.

Imma stop you right there, Raiden's E does frick all damage and barely generates any energy, it only serves to give a minor bump to burst damage
Most of Raiden's kit is locked behind her burst, which is a pain in the ass to use in the overworld because by the time she's moderately built she's 1 shotting everything and can't restore her monstrous 90 energy burst before it ends
And of course like you said there's the whole "needing to go to Seirai Island" thing with her boss locked behind several dozen hours of archon quests and a world quest
With Navia they can just TP to Fontaine, and do the event for the Claymore, skipping the archon quest if they feel like ruining the story for themselves. Or just use a Prototype Animus. Barbara's E is a pretty effective way to apply an element, or Kayea, or Lisa, or Amber
It's not like Navia's bullets run out in seconds, you can run around with them loaded up in the overworld. Her E does stupid damage, even when underleveled and without bullets, a level 60 Navia was 1 shotting hilichurls in my AR60 world, admittedly with leveled Glad artifacts

What? I was hitting for 6k-10k per hit and reactions would do even more. That wasn't even with good EOSF gear it was just random underleveled garbage I had. Like I said, it works as a better version of Fischl and she's there primarily to supplement other characters. I never used her as a burster at all.

Fair, but this leads to the issue of the person never learning any elemental reactions other than Crystalize and basing their entire comp around it. Kaeya only works if you use his burst which you won't be doing regularly and the same applies to Lisa. Even in Enkanomiya (I believe I was WL7 or 8 with Yelan being my only 80) my bursts were not even remotely on cooldown after 2-3 fights outside of Yelan herself and that I attribute to all the dashing.

You're right, I must have been fighting lower level stuff or had a buff and just misremembered. This is crowned and I am using the PJS if that matters. My EoSF artifacts are awful so take this as unoptimized.
For a beginner I still would argue she would be better overall because it encourages using other characters in addition to working out later on. I mean, admittedly both Navia and Raiden should work out fine it's just do you want to be tied to Geo or not, essentially.

-Use your Resin as soon as you unlock it. Not the fragile resin tho, save those until you hit adventure rank 45
-Always pick up elemental butterflies if you see one.
-Reach Reputation Level 3 in Liyue to unlock Condensed Resin, use it for Leylines/Domain.
-Try to reach 20000 realm points in your teapot ASAP when you unlock that feature.

You can't get two standard weapons in a row. When you get a standard 5* the next 5* will be a 50/50 between the two banner weapons (and that does carry over). It's still a scam, but the worst case if starting fresh is you end up with a standard 5* and both banner weapons if you have to go the full path to get your target.

To me Fontaine seemed like one of the worst places to live outside of Inazuma. The sole reason you would want to is if you had a decent enough income so you could live comfortably in the city and had some wanted skill that could keep you gainfully employed without having to leave the city.

A lot of that can be applied to any nation and is mostly due to the world being sized down for gameplay reasons
The thing is that Sumeru has Rishboland Tigers and scorpions, sure, and if you go into the desert you have a 50/50 shot the Eremites you meet are friendly, but the deadliest places are primarily only near the pyramids. If you don't touch the pyramids of the giant mountain you're more or less safe as a civilian. Paths are mostly clear, Hilichurls, Specters, and basic Shrooms are the only things impeding your day-to-day life, with Hilichurls sticking around Aranara areas more than anything, and if you are actually venturing into the rainforest you are either a Vision wielder or are paying Eremites/Forest Rangers for guidance.
Liyue only gets dangerous if you go near ancient ruins, otherwise Vishaps are in very specific areas you can easily steer clear of. There's tons of beaten paths and it's safe enough for people to travel on basically all of them barring near the Chasm.
Mondstadt only gets dangerous if you start venturing out from the Dawn Winery, Springvale, or Mondstadt itself but the Dawn Winery path is well traveled and constantly has Adventurers leading people or the Favonious Knights doing stuff.
Inazuma is a complete wash outside of the main island and maybe Watatsume. I have no idea how they even farm or supply themselves short of taking ships everywhere. Like, three out of five of the islands are borderline uninhabitable or deadly.
What? Even in the Sumeru rainforest you can't go more than 10 feet without being jumped by Eremites or highly aggressive wildlife. This is true for basically every nation, travel off the beaten patch and you're in for a shit time

Eremites are mainly in their own little groups so you can easily just steer clear of them or go another path, and like I said, if you're going into those areas it's an extremely high chance you've hired an Eremite group or Forest Rangers to defend you or your goods. The land is also fertile, so you can literally just live innawoods or even innadesert and be safe for your entire life.
Rishboland Tigers are definitely a threat, but they primarily sit in low to the ground trees and very rarely go out for water.
After that you have shrooms and Specters, Specters seemingly being the more dangerousof the two. Hilichurls again primarily sequester themselves to Aranara houses so you'd generally be safe in avoiding them.
There's are several main roads between large settlements where wildlife and eremites just jump you. Outside of Aaru village in the desert, only the strongest survive, and that shit's like 2/3rds of Sumeru

That's why I said the desert's a mess and why everyone hires Eremites if they need to get anywhere. Even then the old man in the hills farts around there growing his flowers without much issue. Most of the major threads are located near the pyramids, so unless you have some reason to be at the pyramids you won't have to deal with a majority of the threats. Scorpions, birds, and floating snakes are gonna be your primary concern which, again, is why you hire Eremites for that.
If you can't deal with that life then live in the rainforest and grow random crap. The worst that could happen is a Rishboland Tiger wandering to your land or some shrooms getting attracted.

Maguu Kenki island has the entire electrified cut still actively electrified, and the entire Mikage Furnace area is a hellhole you can barely traverse without Hilichurls or samurai trying to kill you while also being almost impossible to traverse the actual furnace part due to the bridges being destroyed. The only remotely safe place is the barracks since all the abandoned houses have a bunch of samurai squatting killing everyone near them, and there's the Consecrated Beast near Maguu Kenki but no one really has a reason to go near the bones.
Thunder Manifestation island is still filled with ruin mechs absolutely everywhere, and if they're not there then it's either the Fatui or Hilichurls. There's not a single safe space in that location outside of arguably the Fatui area if you make a deal with them and Neko's shrine.
Tsurumi Island can be visited now but it's an Abyss Wolf hellhole in about a third of the island while the other two-thirds are either Hilichurls or ruin mechs. Where would you even put a house safely? Yeah, the ghosts are all gone, but there's nowhere to really stick a house.

Because it's primarily a local trading hub for the Eremites and meant to be a transition to reach Aaru Village. Unless you are an Eremite why would you be traveling alone to Aaru Village? It's already got a bad reputation because of decades of Akademia nonsense so no regular people will want to go there, and anyone wanting to go farther is either a trader/researcher who would have a guide anyway or an adventurer who can defend themselves.
I sincerely doubt normal people even go past Aaru considering the only people you meet up there are researchers or disgraced researchers, Treasure Hoarders, and you're outright told no one's use that path from Sumeru for who knows how long when going to Fontaine.

Jakob was still around up until recently and was still actively threatening Fontaine with destruction so I wouldn't really call that "ended".
A lot of the stuff I was talking about (The underbelly of Fontaine city, the mafia running around unchecked, the broken bridges and buildings, etc) also aren't really a gameplay to story disconnect. We can literally see how broken Fontaine is. Sure, after Traveler arrived now people can more easily visit the Merusea Village, the Fontaine Institute is more or less fixed, the Synth distribution is ended, the Pasiv stuff fixed the massive gusts of wind and the dying tree, and the whole issue of everyone who is Fontainian turning into Oceanids has passed. It's still gonna take decades for them to fix everything that was broken due to the Fontaine Institute and we don't even know how well things will go in general.
Yeah, we have that sick lady on the top of the hill from the event who has a doctor visit her seemingly regularly, and you also have the old man waiting for his dead daughter on that other hill living peacefully, but then on the other hand you have the brother and sister whose brother has to work with the mafia to make ends meat where they live while the whole Steambird scandal has the poor woman living also seemingly making ends meat to feed her and her kid on that one port.
It seems like unless you're pretty decently learned about procedures or have actively worked with technology you'll have a harder time getting any sort of job at the city itself. it's not like mihoyo would be losing anything doing it, they can still make bank of the limited banners and anyone who wants older characters can waste on the third banner. it just speeds up the reruns for players, so people wouldn't have to wait a whole year on a character rerun anymore. we are reaching the point where some characters aren't getting reruns for over 20 banners.
My crackpot theory on why electro visions stopped going out is that the Shogun's Vision Hunt Decree violated some clause in the Archon contract and triggered some automated function to revoke Ei's link to the Electro Throne. The Throne is currently vacant as a result.
I think it's really odd that nothing in the game has referenced Natlan in any way. We got a bunch of knowledge about Inazuma, Sumeru and Fontaine back in 1x to 4x as they neared, either as world building from NPCs and lore, or hints before the regions dropped, as well as tidbits of Scheznaya.
But Natlan? It has as far as i remember never been mentioned or even spoken about after the manga that took place like 1000 years before the current event.

From a design wise idea i find that hard to imagine, unless Fontaine is literally a plateau in a lake. For all we know, there may still be regions "untamed" too, so if they wanted to connect Natlan and Szessy, they could just made the region between them some uncivilized wilderness. Which would also make for a decent late game exploration region since presumably everything there is big, angry and will kill you.
i still think natlan is south of sumeru's desert otherwise it doesnt really make much sense why we havent seen anyone from natlan yet. if it bordered fontaine and snezhnaya it would seem like the barrier to entry and exit wouldnt be that extreme, but if you had to cross a huge frick off desert to get to it, it would make more sense why we dont see anyone from there.

Me too, actually. I really enjoyed the desert, and found all 3 parts of is distinct and cool enough to not feel like it was just "the same old shit".
And since early Inazuma, every region added has been frankly refreshing to me. I trust these people to make new additions feel and look different enough to be enjoyable by the aesthetics itself.
What desert did you like the most? I also think every desert has enough to not blend together. The second and third part had wonderful world quests, and the first one wasn't as strong imo but I loved the exploring the pyramids
NTA but the 3.4 desert was my favourite. An actual dangerous place with a serious quest to match. Just wish the sandstorm was actually threatening
It's hard for me to pick one. The first one had my favorite gimmicks and visuals. Like the invisible walls, pyramids. I like the puzzles and the clearance system.
The second one has the best quest and Jeht was much better.
The last one was just so good with all the lore and the music was really something else. Also Sorush
I enjoy the first desert region for being so full of ruins and arid landscaping. It's both vastly different from other regions, as well as being very novel to me who lives in the snowy mountainous north of the world. The quests there also generally feeds into some "indiana jones" aspects that i love. The background lore, while too high IQ for me to grasp the whole deal, is satisfying too.
The second desert, being a cliffy mountain was original as well, and i loved the big WQs in it, but it was less about exploring old ruins and more helping the world right now feel. So for me, i would rank D1 slightly above D2.
As for D3, i've been saving it for a slow period should i catch up with all the stuff. And Fontaine really ignited that fire in my ass as i adore the region, and the rewards feels so much better.

Not at all, as i found out. But i still walked through it just for the feeling before entering Fontaine as said.
I understand that a lot of lore regarding Fontaine is dropped in it, but i'm not a very smart man, so it would all have flown over my head most likely before Fontaine, and forgotten. Now maybe i can do the quests and attach it to something from my favourite region. You know, hindsight knowledge and all.
But boy did i enjoy walking through the third desert region and seeing all those cool ass sights on my way to Fontaine. Extremely beautiful region.
It's hard to choose between the second and the first for me. I really liked learning about King Deshret and his civlization in the first desert, but the fall of Gurabad and my favourite little racist Liloupar were also really interesting.
I did enjoy the third desert (even if the dialog got close to Aranara tier confusing). The notes from the Institute's expeditions to Khaenriah and the reveal of Egeria's death were really cool. Not to mention the gate to Khaenriah itself was a big "oh shit oh shit oh shit" moment when I first stumbled on them

Enkanomiya is optional so Apep is needed to introduce the concept of the Sovereigns to people and Egeria's death is a central point to the third desert, and the notes you find throughout the third desert from Jakob/Rene's expeditions
Also, the Nymph Dream artifact domain dropped a lot of information related to Fontaine lore. I bet we're soon getting some Natlan lore through artifacts

Considering the average size of new region updates, i assume that the liyue black mine region and sumeru east coast will be together, as either by itself seems rather small. Then again it's not like Mihoyo is above landscaping the low poly regions outside of bound..So it makes sense to bundle it up as a seaway between port Ormos and black cliff, while making the Inazuman sea a little bigger (probably peppered with islands)
It makes sense for Mihoyo to expand outwards, rather than fill in areas. As an open world without any real level restriction, they can't have new players running to Dorman's port or climb mountains to get to Fontaine before Liyue now, could they?
In fact i'm curious to see how Chenyue Vale will work in that regard since it let new players in Liyue get a "shortcut" to Fontaine in terms of plot advacement..

Yeah, but Mihoyo doesn't WANT that, they want you to follow their AQ story. But obviously, being a game that adds new characters with regional needs, they couldn't keep the gate shut forever without fricking over new players who roll and need said mats to go beyond lvl 40
if they really didnt want that they would have story locked the rest of the regions like they did with inazuma and only allowed you to explore them as you got to that point in the archon quest. obviously its not that important to them since they only did it once.
nothing really stops you from running straight to fontaine now as a new player. but it will be weird for new players when they reach that point in the archon quests to go to fontaine and find themselves having to way into the desert instead of just going through chenyu vale.
The only place you can't go from the moment you start the game is Inazuma.
A player can walk from Mondstadt, through Liyue, through the Chasm, through Sumeru, across the deserts, and take the elevator up to Fontaine without any issue.
Hell, they're gonna make it easier next patch with Chenyu Vale cutting the trip by like 66%

At some moments they seem like the big fricking uniformed c**ts ruining shit, like in Mondo and Liyue, but then you get the Chasm Fatuis who were helping keeping Liyue safe, or the Fatui in Fontaine assisting Poisson. I mean eventually we might get a "haha we only helped you so you TRUST us!" before betraying everything, but it's far better than the directly evil generic tropes. like the Abyss. or 99% of anime organizations. The Fatuus are shown as humans as well sometimes. I can respect that.

Remember Fontaine being divided into two factions led by Clorinde and Navia or whatever, and Sandrone being the main harbinger of the region? The only thing most leakers are good for is banner order/character designs and element/weapon, and general mechanics, because in terms of them being good or not, most of them can't play the game so it's worthless getting hyped or doomposting before the character is actually on beta.

Yeah, then explains that all that means is you manually set parameters for it to auto-generate a new set for you. The first/quick loadout option just has those parameters selected for you based on player usage data.
i think the leaks from the beta said you could save loadouts for characters, but if you can only save one loadout per character its not great for anyone other than newer players who are constantly swapping artifacts between characters simply because they dont have enough to go around.
kek, i've already seen so many people that are mad about this because it's only one loadout per character. as if they aren't aware that having 4 or 5 different artifact sets set aside for a character isn't representative of the genshin playerbase as a whole at all. the average genshin player doesn't even engage with the abyss, let alone having multiple builds for characters for multiple team comps, and i really dont expect hoyo to cater to the 1% of players who want or need multiple loadout slots. having a genshin optimizer basically built into the game is massively beneficial to probably 90% of the playerbase, if not more.

You have to spam NAs to build stacks on his shield just to make it usable, it's not a 1 and done shield like Noelle, Diona, or Layla

The new Fontaine craftable only gives like 25% HP. And the passive is energy regen based on healing so its not that good for him
Thoma's long shield is stuck to his Burst and it constantly refreshes when you use normal attacks which is why I play him with ER sands. You don't need that much HP to make his shield super solid.

It's fairly short despite being a 6-step quest chain. It's not timegated either, but there's an average amount of dialogue. As I said, it's actually interesting for an npc quest, and the ending varies based on your choice

Her E is supposedly some sort of grouping that uses scissors to squish enemies into a line, and that's her Q.

The grouping seems useful, shame it doesn't seem great for Itto since she supports normal attacks and Itto uses charges
Let's argue that Itto doesn't use his charge gimmick, would that make him worse than Noelle with her?
But he still has to use normal attacks to gain stacks of his buff, unless you whaled for C6 Itto of all things and even then there's some rng involved in not consuming the stacks. So while not perfectly suited for him, I think it'll still work as long as the buff itself is good.
Either way though, it's very barebones leaks so far so we'll have to see. I'm sure we'll mysteriously get some clearer leaks in the next week or so just before her beta goes live so the big leakers can milk engagement.
I guess one benefit Itto has over Noelle is that his burst increases his normal attack speed, so at least you'd get more hits in. And I suppose the extra geo dmg boost would be nice as well. Currently I have Albedo in my Itto team since I don't really have any other Geos to throw in there, he does like 20-30k hits but nothing else. I think Chiori would probably be more handy just for pulling enemies closer, and then some extra damage on top of that
Albedo provides some energy as well, but damn even with a new artifact set, support, and sword he just fell off the face of the eart
Albedo's biggest problem is that constructs explode the second something bigger than a regular hilichurl looks at them
If constructs were more durable then he could actually see some use but as it stands now if you fight any moderately sized enemy then you're better off bringing someone else
Yeah, I'm planning to roll her and will slot her in with my Itto too. My headcanon vibe is they're probably going to want her to work with Navia(who I skipped thinking I was going to roll Cloud Retainer, but I'll get her next time), and to do that, if she requires NAs, they can't really demand too many. I think Navia with her post-skill infusion is throwing out about the same amount as a stack building Itto, so if she's made for her I think he'll be okay too.

but anything works, their resistances are negligible, I used to run Neuvillette before Navia released and the whale fell just as easily
While i coop it most of the time, i use Furina and neuv generally, with Eula (for the whale) and kokomi for healing.
I am sure there's far more optimal teams, but my eula's phys works against any resistance, and Furina/Neuv duo slays the dude inside the whale ez
