Probably, but exploring is relaxing and the evironments can be quite stunning. I wouldn't say I've wasted my time on it.
Save for EL to go with my C3 Raiden and wait for Focalors. If someone with a fun kit comes before them I might go for their C0, since I've 450 wishes saved up already.
I'm not excited for Fontaine at all because characters look awful on average and what they showed doesn't seem interesting gameplay wise.
But it will all be redeemed once I get the coolest Harbinger. (Then Capitano in Natlan)

For gameplay enjoyers, abyss continues to be a chore, the call for variety in endgame content has been twisted into "let's bloat hp values by 300% and call it a day." Hyperbloom is so ludicrously powerful that discussion of the previously varied gameplay now boils down to "lol just hyperbloom."For waifu enjoyers, the game has become a gay city for months of nothing to roll for.
Above all else, no lessons learned by them judging from HSR so Fontaine will likely be the same shit, different day.

Fujos don't make up the majority of banner spending, but women contribute significantly to shit like fanart and cosplay and they also spend more on merch. Making a game that is very woman friendly is how you go mainstream. If they went full lewd that would drive away women and they'd probably make less money, unfortunately.
With all the insane schizo talk about FUJO GAME that I barely pay attention to, Genshin feels to me like it's just equalizing the amount of male and female 5*s in the game and pandering to BOTH male and female demographics. I'm sure they have a lot of data from all the surveys they do and they probably found out that Genshin's demographic is probably closer to 50% male/female than games like Honkai so they're better off making stuff that panders to both genders rather than focusing on just women.

There are almost no "cool" designs in this game, most of them are girlyboys

I stopped enjoying the game after Liyue, the first zones were fun to explore and the exploration was mostly horizontal . Every other after that started to have more of a vertical exploration that just felt awful and boring.
And the way finding chests, treasures and such in the first zones was exciting and fun, they were cleverly hidden and a fun thing to do. Later they are all in the open and protected by a pack of enemies you have to kill, no more hidden treasures or put on clever places.
I'm super excited. Hydro traveler seems like he'll be really cool shooting aimable water blades. The whole area looks beautiful and the plot leaks seem kind of cool. Not really excited for any of the characters that have been leaked but they're all still STC design wise and I need to see their personalities. At worst I'll just be back to not summoning for characters and just play with what I have. We'll still be getting free event characters like layla next anyways and I'd appreciate the breathing room to build my other characters so it's a win either way. 4.0+ is going to be great bwos

Kazuha is more fun IMO and can work on a ton of teams, plus you get a double jump which is nice for exploration. Kokomi is more of a comfort pick to augment certain playstyles like freeze. Depends on your preferences.

Even after getting yae miko from a random single (which made it so i now have both of the thunderbawds on my account) I didn't even feel like building her. Ended up deleting the app for the forseeable future. I can't imagine myself returning at this point. If I don't care for the story and the gameplay has gotten stale, what's the point in it anymore? Monstadt is fricking dogshit except for Dragonspine. Liyue is a little better, except for the overarching themes and the sheer volume of shit tier fetch quests. The highest point in the world though is peak comfy. I do all my pulls there.
Sumeru, now that I've explored a bit of it (needed to go get the Dendro cube fight and decided to have some fun) Sumeru is pretty cool. Although the grey/red cancer zones are jank as hell.
There's no reason to trust leak*rs anymore. They only got their information from stolen files that got leaked times to times and milk them for months. They're not insiders but just a bunch of drama queens. The simple fact that they are incapable of leaking the map of Fontaine (or Bottleland, remember that Penumbra bullshit?) proves that they have zero new information sicne january.

Decided to grind out a few artifacts and found out that enemy level 59 doesn't even guarantee a single purple. Simply put, frick that when the purple pool is also split 4 ways (2 you want and 2 you don't).

I quit cold turkey like two months ago. It feels great not doing genshin chores every day. I don't think I'll ever go back to seriously playing the game, dailies, all events, etc, but I won't be able to pull for anything if I don't, so I'll probably just not go back at all.

Anon being handheld by a linear, non-interactive questline that requires zero brainpower to complete isn't exploration. People want to see and explore cool areas and solve puzzles by themselves, seeing a cave or temple and being wienerblocked by "Oops, you don't have clearance to enter here, go follow bland NPCs for 10 hours to unlock it :)" And then the way to get inside is just having one of those generic NPCs press a button right beside the door, but you weren't allowed to interact with it because Mihoyo really wants you to experience their dogshit story instead of just playing the game.
I really hope this does doesn't become a trend for now on, the newest desert area was great because as soon as you unlocked Sorush you were free to explore nearly the entire zone.
It wouldn't be a problem if Mihoyo weren't dogshit at telling stories. They can make really interesting lore, but they are so fricking bad at actually presenting their story. It's so fricking bland and lazy on their part.

this is how I started feeling when I was new and halfway through inazuma as they started releasing sumeru. the existential weight of knowing i had to finish two more inazuma islands then the chasm then still had all of sumeru's 400 giant zones made me just want to stop playing.

Basically Piltover and Zaun, which even have the fricking French look since the LoL show was created by French. I.e. a perfect fit for clean steampunk notFrance and dirty steampunk notEngland of Genshin.

he's really fun for exploration because he can fly and very easily scale cliffs and stuff, but combat-wise he's mid, and requires a good shielder to not get his fragile dollboypussy shoved in constantly.

So basically what these anons said, you'll want to run a shielder with wanderer. An optimal team comp would be Wanderer+faruzan+shielder+flex. Of course characters like Zhongli and Layla work good with him, but I personally like running Thoma as my shielder for Wanderer since his burst can proc swirl and give pyro resonance with bennett

Sayu or Yelan is all you need for that. You should be able to hit the cap+ within a daytime or nightime cycle already (for the Dehya/Rosaria boost) and if your route is optimized there's no need for what he brings to the table. You wouldn't get 'minutes' worth of time saved.
Apparently there are faster routes available in Sumeru, but only works better if you have Wanderer because you'd be flying instead of gliding over terrain gaps. But in the end, it's just 2-3 minutes different from using my usual route.
Couldn't find the original video. But just saw this one. They do "cheat" with a manual teleport but you can see sections here and there where Wanderer could shave off a few seconds that add up compared to when he's not on the team. Not mention a rework of older artifact routes that Wanderer can use.
I didn't see any major spots in that video where landing and dashing with Sayu/Yelan wouldn't have worked just as well. There's also the red fan gadget for the two places that would require some gliding with any other character(spaced far enough that cooldown doesn't interfere, and weren't in Sumeru). The old routes had too many far off spots with small yields to be worth bothering with even if they could be reached slightly faster with him.
I got him and for me personally he's probably been one of the most worthwhile pulls in the game purely off the fact he lets you do shit faster. Dailies, exploring, climbing (you can cheese climbing with him by just moving along the wall(, simply just moving around it's so much faster than anyone else. Even Sayu and Yelan don't really compare because they can't go over the air or gaps.
I've probably saved minutes of my life over the span of months of doing dailies with him alone.
Agree with the other anons about him in combat (especially when he gets hit out of the air, it feels like total trash) but he's not the worst character or anything and him being anemo is pretty convenient because anemo is very versatile offensively. If the way the floor enemies work out is awkward given your characters, you can just throw him at it and you'll probably do fine while your other half is optomized

My strongest team is traveler, Lisa, Amber, Noelle and Barbara. All are level 40 (except traveler who is 50) with level 40 weapons and all blue with a purple or two artifacts at level 8-10. All have 287 (barbara)-704 (traveler) atk.
It's not that bad. Fights will just take longer and if you are not already, you'll have to learn to dodge as well as enemy attack ques/patterns. Or just make a lot of food.

This is like the only gacha game where people quit because of the story and the game markedly becomes worse over time because of the story. Events new players will never see again, progression locked behind having to travel a country mile to clear x content or god forbid Enkanomiya. I've had numerous new players quit around Inazuma before they even reached the new stuff, the game is old enough that they should think of ways to improve the new player experience.

Think about it, if your luck is bad on the weapon banner, you'll have to do more than a hundred rolls. You've explored most of the map already, correct? Your only source of primos are events and future quests and if you have bad luck and end up getting whoever you want next at the cusp of 80 rolls, you probably won't have time to save a 100 rolls until Raiden comes back so pray she takes a while to come back.

Gating exploration behind moronic side quests no one wants to do anymore. Having a shitty desert area with no way to traverse it beyond having le QoL characters. Retcon tree used to horrible effect. For gameplay enjoyers, abyss continues to be a chore, the call for variety in endgame content has been twisted into "let's bloat hp values by 300% and call it a day." Hyperbloom is so ludicrously powerful that discussion of the previously varied gameplay now boils down to "lol just hyperbloom."For waifu enjoyers, the game has become a gay city for months of nothing to roll for.
Above all else, no lessons learned by them judging from HSR so Fontaine will likely be the same shit, different day.

With all the insane schizo talk about FUJO GAME that I barely pay attention to, Genshin feels to me like it's just equalizing the amount of male and female 5*s in the game and pandering to BOTH male and female demographics. I'm sure they have a lot of data from all the surveys they do and they probably found out that Genshin's demographic is probably closer to 50% male/female than games like Honkai so they're better off making stuff that panders to both genders rather than focusing on just women.
Gender ratio is only equal for 5* characters, 4* characters lean heavily female, and the overall ratio is 2:1 for female to male.
Sumeru alone has 7 female 4*s and 2 male 4*s.
The thing here is that most of people who complained about fujo game in EVERY gacha game is only talking about 5* character on banner.

I stopped enjoying the game after Liyue, the first zones were fun to explore and the exploration was mostly horizontal . Every other after that started to have more of a vertical exploration that just felt awful and boring.
And the way finding chests, treasures and such in the first zones was exciting and fun, they were cleverly hidden and a fun thing to do. Later they are all in the open and protected by a pack of enemies you have to kill, no more hidden treasures or put on clever places.
I'm super excited. Hydro traveler seems like he'll be really cool shooting aimable water blades. The whole area looks beautiful and the plot leaks seem kind of cool. Not really excited for any of the characters that have been leaked but they're all still STC design wise and I need to see their personalities. At worst I'll just be back to not summoning for characters and just play with what I have. We'll still be getting free event characters like layla next anyways and I'd appreciate the breathing room to build my other characters so it's a win either way. 4.0+ is going to be great bwos

Monstadt is fricking dogshit except for Dragonspine. Liyue is a little better, except for the overarching themes and the sheer volume of shit tier fetch quests. The highest point in the world though is peak comfy. I do all my pulls there.
Sumeru, now that I've explored a bit of it (needed to go get the Dendro cube fight and decided to have some fun) Sumeru is pretty cool. Although the grey/red cancer zones are jank as hell.
There's no reason to trust leak*rs anymore. They only got their information from stolen files that got leaked times to times and milk them for months. They're not insiders but just a bunch of drama queens. The simple fact that they are incapable of leaking the map of Fontaine (or Bottleland, remember that Penumbra bullshit?) proves that they have zero new information sicne january.

Question to Wanderer-havers: Is Wanderer a good pull? I can only think of getting him to shave a few minutes off my artifact runs.
He's alright. He's nothing spectacular, but he's alright.
It depends. He's incredibly fun in the overworld, but is heavily reliant on C6 Faruzan if you want to do good damage with him.

he's really fun for exploration because he can fly and very easily scale cliffs and stuff, but combat-wise he's mid, and requires a good shielder to not get his fragile dollboypussy shoved in constantly.
So basically what these anons said, you'll want to run a shielder with wanderer. An optimal team comp would be Wanderer+faruzan+shielder+flex. Of course characters like Zhongli and Layla work good with him, but I personally like running Thoma as my shielder for Wanderer since his burst can proc swirl and give pyro resonance with bennett
The biggest problem with wanderer is that if you're in the air with him and he doesn't have a shield and gets hit by literally anything at all, he falls out of the fricking sky, gets up, dusts himself off, then hops back up into the sky from where he fell. It happened to me last year and I'm still waiting for the animation to finish.
Sayu or Yelan is all you need for that. You should be able to hit the cap+ within a daytime or nightime cycle already (for the Dehya/Rosaria boost) and if your route is optimized there's no need for what he brings to the table. You wouldn't get 'minutes' worth of time saved.
Apparently there are faster routes available in Sumeru, but only works better if you have Wanderer because you'd be flying instead of gliding over terrain gaps. But in the end, it's just 2-3 minutes different from using my usual route.
I can't think of any artifact places in Sumeru that require gliding to. Do you have a link?
Couldn't find the original video. But just saw this one. They do "cheat" with a manual teleport but you can see sections here and there where Wanderer could shave off a few seconds that add up compared to when he's not on the team. Not mention a rework of older artifact routes that Wanderer can use.
I didn't see any major spots in that video where landing and dashing with Sayu/Yelan wouldn't have worked just as well. There's also the red fan gadget for the two places that would require some gliding with any other character(spaced far enough that cooldown doesn't interfere, and weren't in Sumeru). The old routes had too many far off spots with small yields to be worth bothering with even if they could be reached slightly faster with him.
I got him and for me personally he's probably been one of the most worthwhile pulls in the game purely off the fact he lets you do shit faster. Dailies, exploring, climbing (you can cheese climbing with him by just moving along the wall(, simply just moving around it's so much faster than anyone else. Even Sayu and Yelan don't really compare because they can't go over the air or gaps.
I've probably saved minutes of my life over the span of months of doing dailies with him alone.
Agree with the other anons about him in combat (especially when he gets hit out of the air, it feels like total trash) but he's not the worst character or anything and him being anemo is pretty convenient because anemo is very versatile offensively. If the way the floor enemies work out is awkward given your characters, you can just throw him at it and you'll probably do fine while your other half is optomized

Like the other anon said, its an OW team for ore farming specifically. Razor cuz I dont have Zhongli, Sayu because Sayu, Jean for anemo res and Kirara for shield and climbing if needed. Scara is gonna replace Jean eventually and maybe make me switch Kirara for Rosaria (nioght time passive)

This is like the only gacha game where people quit because of the story and the game markedly becomes worse over time because of the story. Events new players will never see again, progression locked behind having to travel a country mile to clear x content or god forbid Enkanomiya. I've had numerous new players quit around Inazuma before they even reached the new stuff, the game is old enough that they should think of ways to improve the new player experience.
If you don't like the game in it's inital 20+ hours, you won't like the game in its last 20+. They saved themselves.

Think about it, if your luck is bad on the weapon banner, you'll have to do more than a hundred rolls. You've explored most of the map already, correct? Your only source of primos are events and future quests and if you have bad luck and end up getting whoever you want next at the cusp of 80 rolls, you probably won't have time to save a 100 rolls until Raiden comes back so pray she takes a while to come back.

Because with expansions like old games 10+ years ago, you played the game as much as you want and then put it down.
With Genshin, in order to experience a lot of that new content, you need resources like primogems and mora. So you're signing up for a part time job to "pay" for the expansion later. And you still might not get what you want!
The main reason why Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring are so highly regarded is because "You bought the game, turned it on, and then played a full game for as long as you wanted. That's it."

meh, i'm not convinced of the expansion model, especially the modern expansion model where they're selling razor thin content for near full price. see destiny2 and soon diablo4 probably.
destiny 2 is the most fricked though because they just lock out content after a while, so you can't even play it from start to finish. imagine if genshin removed event NPCs and areas permanently when they ended.
