the other half of genshin, and any other gacha for that matter, is character building, and its pretty fricking tedious in genshin because of the lack of a sweeping mechanic. its that simple.
The only 2 complaints I have about genshin is FRICKING WORDS WORDS WORDS WORDS WORDS in all of the new content, quests are WAY too long and for no good reason because the writing is dick 90% of the time, and my other complaint is WAY too few and unvaried female characters. First we got a full year of nothing but pyro/cryo main damage dealers, then a year of some variation at least, and now we had a full year of 0 (ZERO) limited female characters. And what the leaks tell us, after Furina we're getting nothing but hags for an entire year. This game has so much potential, but mihoyo management are incompetent fricks.

thats more artifacts than weapons, because upgrading weapons is pretty consistent and they can be obtained alongside characters in the gacha as well as crafting, but you're rolling up to 5 dice for an artifact and that's not even including leveling it up
I should be able to acquire everything by playing the game and unlocking them. In old games unlocking characters, vehicles, items and powerups, or cosmetics were measures of completion. I have even played games that everything were locked behind a gacha, but the gacha used in-game currency you acquired through playing the game and therefor could get unlimited pulls with appropriate amounts of gameplay. This is annoying but not unethical, you csn reasonably expect to unlock everything by this method.
If I can't acquire things through unlocking due to game progress I don't want to complete your game.
