no king rules forever my son...
This is the unfortunate reality of every good thing. All good things must come to an end.
And really better a lot of things come to an end before they get dragged into overstaying their welcome and become an awful parody of former glory.
What do we replace MTG with in the game shops?
Maybe the game shops are on the way out too. Just like arcades, the ones that stick around will be more like novelties and nothing like their glory days. Meow.
Theyre usually mixed with normie board games and a cafe in Asia.
Wait for it to crash and burn and pick up the pieces afterwards.
Phoenix protocol is the only path.
>Phoenix protocol is the only path
I dunno, they're probably nerfing well of radiance in the final shape.
I'd rather you didn't tbqh
Become a limited gay. There is no saving constructed, it was a doomed format from the start, just like it is in every game. I'm survived it survived the netdeck age and decades of wealth accumulation as well as it did.
Standard wouldn't be a shitshow if they actually designed around it like the used to, but every set had shitty EDH and Modern powerless cards shoved into it regardless of the health of the format.
Until they start designing and planning around limited and standard exclusively, the game is actually doomed.
Modern powered*
Curated formats and playing environments. Cube, Premodern, and Golden Modern are perfect examples. Autists need to get over whatever qualms they have about fixed card pools.
Add PreDH to that list.
Fixed Card pools/Throwback formats are supremely underrated.
Agreed, controls power levels and adds a shit ton of flavor for cards that rarely if ever see use.
I used to buy complete sets for this very reason, the older ones used to be pretty cheap too.
Cube with your friends or selected individuals.
No way around it.
The costs are manageable since a single deck doesn't consist of 40+ rares and it actually re-introduces the skill of deckbuilding again which is basically lost in an age of every sweaty neckbeard going on the web to shamelessly netdeck.
Non-rotating format can't be saved, because the only way to "fix" it is to post things more broken than the broken things.
As other said, if you still want to play with that rotting corpse, play limited/cube and just print whatever card you want
Ban all cards. Have an Alpha Start Over Release blue bordered cards and new backs design. Don't frick it up this time.
The cards are already made...you dont need WotC. I just look at the colorless cards that fit my deck, if nothing then I pass. $20-60 a set, and thats assuming its packed with bits, only need 1 each in EDH.
You stop playing it. That shit isn't made for you. The people working on the art and design want your culture and history erased and they think it is just. This goes for all culture besides Reddit junk as well. It's global homogenization.
You put too much stock into the global importance of a children's card game
Erase the commander from existence. Saved. Easy as. 90% of bad things are caused by the EDH popularity, which poisons the roots of the whole system. From moronic beyond universe sets, legendary creatures making up 50% of sets, to dumb multiplayer mechanics.
Ive kind of wanted to try an "Oops, all Planeswalkers" deck.
Is it good?
Depends how well equipped your meta is to deal with it. Casual metas with lots of creature removal but little Planeswalker removal have a hard time dealing with it. Superfriends decks also get to be very boring and durdly if the pilot isn't a quick player. Casual players generally hate playing against them, and experienced players roll their eyes at the one trick pony value pile decks. I recommend against it. They're kind of fun to pilot, but they're generally miserable to play against
>experienced players roll their eyes at the one trick pony value pile decks
Lol, I am not fan of Planeswalkers from the beginning, but had the colorless ones in reserve for my deck. Since around 2016 a few new things have come out, but I left the country so I didnt really keep up with it.
Figured it would be like it, hard to make bizarre decks that are mid-enough.
>bizarre decks that are mid-enough.
Which Colorless only EDH and maining bruisers, it boxes me in pretty good, but still has "big shit" but its common and unidimensional a bit.
It tended to attract ALL of the attention as it was always mana with big shit.
Fewer set releases through the year. Each set carefully designed around the current competitive formats.
More reprints to frick over scalpers and drive down the prices, the current game is far too expensive for what it offers.
Fire every current art director and go back at making things for your playerbase instead of appealing to a SJW crowd that isn't there. Black wymen will never play this shit no matter how many fricking ugly ass Kayas you print. And black dudes would rather play YGO anyway. I swear I see that homie Aragorn card on every board whenever people need to shit on current virtue signaling media.
moronic take. The only thing you can blame EDH players for is still supporting this shitshow instead of letting WoTC die.
EDH is a conscequence of current MtG being shit, not the reason.
Any change big enough to save it, would kill it. Small changes or no changes will also kill it.
Get rid of everything after Ice Age and start over
I remember having this discussion with morons like you back in 1998. Then again when Ice Age came out. Then again when combo winter happened. Then again with Affinity. Then again with Alara. Then again post-Ravnica. Then again with Eldrazi winter.
I really don't give a shit anymore about you stupid homosexuals. I really wish there was a chuddy country we could all send you to so you could have a nice day. I guess that West Virginia is as close as we have. Can you losers all move there please? we don't like you. Not even other nerds like you. In the 90s kids like you would have been bullied at my school until you killed yourself or committed suicide by cop.
>Then
>Then
>Then
Then everyone clapped except (You). Idk...sounds like it was working.
Keep strong, Elder Dragon. The world is foxed one shitpost at a time.
o7
>chronicles
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>In the 90s kids like you would have been bullied at my school until you killed yourself or committed suicide by cop.
Masterful bait
>back in 1998
>Then again when Ice Age came out
You wanna know how I know your underageb& ass didn't start playing until 2015?
Nah. I say let it die.
I bought Ice Age when it came out, youre fricking moronic and need a slap.
Get rekt you Autist, Aspie is here.
>It's too big to fail!!!!!!!!
Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow, and insidious killer.
You can't. Let it die and poach the worthwhile mechanics for a new card game. Maybe one that isn't designed to maximize corporate profits through gambling aimed at children.
Start by the basics, gameplay wise ban EVERYTHING after 3rd edition, at least. Start from that set of card, design ideas, power level and above all, rules.
After that, divinely fascistic decision that are pro-white in all fluff and no fricking tourney homosexualry ever again.
Let it die. Trick the secondary market subhumans into buying up all your cards at grossly inflated prices and then evacuate the game en masse and watch it crash and burn.
I wish we could go back to time without WotC spoonfeeding commander sets, preferably to time before planeswalkers and mythics.
Why is it worth saving?
best mechanics of any card game
resource management is fun
Shoot anybody that proposes another crossover in the head.
I think nothing showed how shit the process had become than when MTG and fricking Hearthstone began making the same settings in parallel.
You quit playing and hope WotC either gets divested or sold to another company. There are lots of other card games.
All the problems Magic has are a result of the fact that all other divisions at Hasbro are losing money, so WotC is being squeezed for every last drop of profitability no matter the long-term consequences. That isn't going to change any time soon, and none of the things that could put Magic on a path to improvement are possible under that environment.
Even if WotC gets a new owner there is literally no way to save Magic. It's just impossible.
You can save anything, especially things that have a massive captive audience and established lines of business and business partners.
But Magic is making all the opposite decisions, because Hasbro is demanding it of them.
>how do we save MTG?
Magic reached the point where it's unsaveable over a decade ago. The biggest problem is that you cannot unprint a card once it's printed. You can ban it, but even if a card is banned from all formats it still exists as a stain on the game. And thy would need to unprint everything in the game since... I dunno, Dominaria or maybe even earlier than that.
It's insane how cool and exciting Magic in the 90's was and STILL IS compared to the stale piece of shit it is today. They used to make lore comics out of random cards, not even legendaries just random ass uncommons. It had so much going for it and it is now all lost.
Execute all shareholders
>hasbro goes under
>wotc is sold off to Tencent, Asmodee, Games Workshop, etc
I didn't just say Hasbro's shareholders.
What kind of moronic Black person doesn't own shares in anything?
Don't save plox
MtG players don't deserve a better game, go down with the ship you barrel of gays.
