Its honestly not fair that people who work are struggling and people who dont work at all like myself are barely struggling more, they need to completely abolish welfare, I say this as someone taking advantage of it, I have no drive to work under such conditions where you bust your ass for little money, Id rather sit on my ass and do what I want all day every day instead of only have marginally better living conditions than if I was working. Government even pays my rent under housing executive payouts, if I got a job I would have LESS disposable income than I do already. Shit is broken.

no. what they need to do is implement basic income. then companies can evaluate what positions are truly important and what can be left to AI. then those who want to work will get paid handsomely.

Sure but where does the money come from for that basic income, Im on the dole and I make no quibbles about it, Im taking out of a pot Im not paying into, and the pot wont last forever if people are working less and less to put money back into the pot.

No, she’s not. But at her age I was working construction in steel mills, driving for over an hour to get to work and over an hour back, and working 10-12 hour days sometimes 6 and 7 days a week, in a place where 2 grown men died while working there while I was working there. And I didn’t cry about it. She sat in an air conditioned building sitting on her ass for 8 hours and had a nervous breakdown on the internet about it. That’s the funny part, women are soft and unprepared for the real world and the “fair treatment” they want so badly.

yeah it really depends on the job
like the girl in the OP also has a 1.5hr commute each way, so its insane
but I wfh, do other shit during the work day and its no problem, like organizing appointments, running errands, cooking food, and more
can even hit up appointments for shit I need to go do, I would go to doctors appointments during the day (and get paid to do it), did a job interview for my current job while working/getting paid by my old job, and other stuff but I really don't have that much I need to do unlike others who its really beneficial for.

but yeah not everyone has that flexibility and I am very happy to work a job that doesn't really actually require 8hrs a day (or at least for me) and apart from the meetings I need to attend (which are also long and I only need to pay attention for like <half of the time) I can mostly do w/e and no one cares.

Not WFH but I got a comfy gig as a TV and Internet man for a college campus.
I live al of 15 minutes from the campus.
It's remote, but in the sense that I'm the only person from my company on campus.
        Hours away from the boss.
Walk around all day talking to the kids on campus and staff.
Fix some stuff every now and then.
Goof off, use the school gym to work out for free.
Eat at the cafeteria for lunch for cheap, have a variety of foods to choose from.
Get paid pretty decently, live in a cheaper area.
Honestly work from home would be an objective downgrade from what I do. Not sure how people just be unhuman all day.
But I get home at 5:15 and go to bed at 10:30-ish. Up at 6:30. I get plenty done in that time.

True. The majority of human females work in office jobs which can be delegated to AI in the future. The small minority work as teachers and nurses which are remarkable jobs but unfortunately they are experiencing shortages thus there's plenty for every human female wishing to work.
The remaining human females should become housewives. I mean, the matrimonial system is designed for it already. Human females receive half of the human male's networth upon divorced on the presumption that they were didn't earn an income becaude they were raising the children and performing house duties.

If you don't like it, it's hell, quite literally torture. Work burnout is a thing because of that.
It's even worse if you work in a place where people want your downfall or just want to piss you off (never happened to me, thankfully).
What a lot of Ganker users don't seem to understand is that stress is not something that disappears on the weekend gaming session, it just piles up and up until you reach your limit, which brings we back to the burnout issue, so something like a "comfy" office job can become the end of the world if it's not your thing.

Dunno if you're a rich yuropoor or a rich burger, but here in burgerland we have this cultural thing called the "protestant work ethic" which not only made the country wealthy, but made individuals wealthy. This is before it was perverted and twisted in a practical sense by corporations and in a cultural sense by israelites to get people to work harder and devote their entire lives to serving them while they do frick all and reap the benefits. It very obviously doesn't pay off like it used to but the older generations fricking cling to that shit and in extreme cases their entire personality becomes that. ive worked various wagecuck jobs for 15+ years and never had a work that wanted me to work early. ive had them call me to see if i can come in early if there was a call out or something but thats entirely different.

True wageslavery is when your overtime is still a saving compared to getting more employees or paying anyone fairly. The problem these people have is they want to live like they are rich whilest doing nothing to actually have the money for that life, like they will eat out and go on holidays, and then complain they havent got money for rent and a second wardrobe of shoes.

Working all day every day at a job you dont like shouldnt be the goal, but you should at least acknowledge that if youre going to half ass work you are going to get half ass pay, just live within your means and you dont NEED to work a 9 to 5 job.

This is one of the many reasons I quit and became a neet. "Society" is deeply evil and I await it's collapse while not having to leave my home. Truly the only sane way to live in an insane world where literal slavery to a "job" is ~~*expected*~~.

Don't worry Ganker, after retirement you wind up having way more time for living and your hobbies. I even finished a couple video games last year! And one so far this year. Almost two!

Protip you can retire early if you min-max your finances.

It's even easier with kids. You can get so much welfare if you have kids, it's almost not even funny. But in my case I don't have kids and I'm a bit of a hopeful moron so I'd like some soon.

all eggs in the same basket is a castle of glass, very hard but shatter in pieces at the slightest bullshit, and the bullshit will happen wheter bug, bad will from human beings, paperclip or whatever

AI could literally end humanity just with the fricking cars. imagine when they have multi tasking robots, swarms of flyings robots for engineering or war purposes. thats one of the scenarios, if AI brainwashes everyone they could make us kill ourselcves, or accept a braibn chip and just disable everything at a distance, if it just doesnt do it by mistake or bug

If they manage to make robots replace manual labor, they will simply poison all our food (more) to kill off the now redundant population. And they have probably done this already several times in history.

After eating, getting groceries, changing clothes, doing your laundry and showering I got maybe 3 hours to play video games because that's the most convenient thing you can do that won't require travel time and waiting. There is no time for friends or family. My hobby was playing the guitar and the job completely killed that for me and I haven't touched a guitar since.

Companies are run by barely conscious morons who don't know anything while all the real work is done by a small number of wage slaves. Meetings are a way to justify sitting around doing nothing and not having people breathe down your neck and ask what you are doing.
I've been maybe 100 hours of meetings. I bought a notepad for the meetings and wanted to really absorb everything and earn respect. It turned out that we just sit around drinking coffee and eating cookies while someone who likes talking just talks about nothing. I'd leave these meetings with two sentences written down and nothing of value in them. Eventually the notepad was just for doodling as I tuned out and wouldn't listen to a word they said and no one cared or noticed. Not a single word said in these meetings had any value or meaning.
The people who actually do the work and earn these people billions of dollars would literally kill these people if they knew what goes on in the meetings.

At some point you gotta just let it burn, anon. Stop killing yourself to prop up unreasonable work expectations, spend some time making sure you can get another job, work on your resume. Try to gain the confidence that even if they try to come down on you for not over-burdening yourself with, you can go elsewhere.
You could also make the argument that their workstream relying on you and presumably others going 100+% at all times is not sustainable and eventually they'll get into a bad cycle of attrition and undertrained new people.

I like the games, I hate that so many of the ones I'm interested in are so long. That's not me hating the game but being frustrated that my tastes lean in that direction.

FF7 Rebirth is a cool game, I'm enjoying the story, characters, presentation, music etc. If I absolutely didn't enjoy it I would drop it.

Admittedly slog probably wasn't the best word as it implies the actual gameplay experience isn't fun to me, which it is. I like these games, it just sucks that they take forever to get through at the pace I can do.

Do you know how many metric tons of food we consume daily? The magic that makes that possible is dependent on a logistics chain and infrastructure that is fragile and expensive to maintain and requires work, this is why people starve in Africa, no infrastructure, no peace, no people working, no logistics chain to deliver food to your home.

my siblings work this government job thats micromanaged out the fricking ass
its in a government call centre thing, they get paid really well but their time is measured in literal fractions of a second
    seconds on the phone
    seconds between calls
how long you were doing X or Y, how long it took to fill out Z, push through C, make D happen, etc
    seconds you clocked in
    seconds you clocked out
seconds you were gone from the desk
if it was getting coffee, going to the toilet, etc
and all of it is tracked and measure and they have fricking stats out the wazoo about performance

I remember her literally telling me how many seconds of overtime she had worked and could show me breakdowns by day and everything
I mean its an insanely flexible job, she can literally in the middle of the day leave to go pick up her kids as long as she has it sorted out (which she does) and its all tracked and accounted for and no problem

You only do nothing if you have a 'real' job though. Exceptions obviously and some high paid work is actually going to be intense, but the more you are paid and thus the more 'real' your job is the less likely you actually are to do work. As you go up you are generally getting paid for your knowledge/experience than raw labour like at lower paid shit where your only value to the company is working you like a dog

      Anonymous

The scam is the lack of proper pay for the work you've done. The work being completely unproductive is a lack of any leadership and brains, most companies work like a soulless dumb robot just brute forcing the profits by paying the workers peanuts to just churn out something that will be worth more than the pay they received.
Worked at a food factory where we would just dump the food out. More waste than food produced. We would have these pastries from the walk in fridge that just need to defrost a little so they become flexible and can be used, but nope, we can't do that. So we take the ice cold hard pastries and try to work with them and they all break and we throw them out. The profit for the company was brute forced by having the first 90% of pastries broken and thrown out and maybe by the time we get to the last 10% they have defrosted a little and become usable, so we would make food out of them and those would get sold for $19.99+tip so technically the company made a profit. We could have done the same work for the same or bigger profit in 1 hour instead of 8.
That's how every job is. Just a waste of life and time. If you try to fix any of it you'll just get yelled at and possibly get fired.
