melee is way harder than spellcaster, or a class that does all its damage with the spell ability instead of relying on weapon damage, because its harder to hit with melee but also good weapons are hard to come by.
Its not too bad until hell where it becomes ridiculous.
barb can sort of work well even with mediocre gear if you fear all the minion type mobs and just assassinate the named mob then run away to the next one. Use 2 weapons with crushing blow and use the skills double swing, frenzy, howl, grim ward, and leap (with buff shouts) probably one of the most involved ways to play the game despite only killed the named mobs. assassin has a similar playstyle with one of her melee (meme) spec as well.
they just need to gut the attack rating stat and it would improve drastically
