Aside from the Ark Stage (Final Chase?), what levels are likely? Radical Highway seems like a given, since it's Shadow's Green Hill, in a manner of speaking. A Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion combination and Aquatic Base would also be good.

Simply, Frontiers feels like Forces.
Not Stiff, but very Snappy. With High Acceleration Turning and Jumping.
Look at how Shadow moves fast after the Homing Attack. He also has Chaos Spear, and all those cutscene attacks, similar to Frontiers.
Generations is like Unleashed, much slower, but more fluid. Walking to running takes effect, making a fight in an arena like the Helicopter Pad scene much harder to control. Jumping is more precise and harder to turn from.
Just play or look at a video of the two and you’ll immediately see.
Outside of that, the small level things like Dash Pads in a lot of areas and specifically to turn the corner when going up the wall instead of a smooth turn.
Taken from my Update 3 experience, best I can explain it.
Imagine Adventure 1 with:
Higher Acceleration, almost forced.
Harder to turn at running speeds
Fake Physics / Only Forward Momentum
Stiffer Jump Turning, but Spindash Air Turning is much Smoother when launched.
Slower Speed Cap unless modified in the options.
They were always the same engine. Modders can make tweaks to a simple file to change the game physics so it's certainly trivial for Sega to have the Generations physics for the remaster and something else for the expansion
The games feel different though, pretty sure Lost World used the same engine as Generations but the physics were completely different.
Then Forces and Frontiers used those same/tweaked Lost World physics, which is why they feel that way they do.

The funny thing is they went out of their way to relist Sonic 06 on the Xbox 360 Marketplace in 2022. It just isn't backwards compatible in newer Xboxes for whatever reason

A nice reminder that Colors and Generations were made by different teams and that almost all of Generation's level designers got poached by Nintendo while the Colors team went on to do Lost World/Forces/Frontiers
The straight lines in Green Hill would at least like slope and curve around and have dynamic shadows so it felt more interesting than literally just a straight line with the camera zoomed all the way out for you to really take in how much of the level just has nothing going on.

You can go out of bounds because the devs were too cheap to actually define bounds for the player to stay in, which is why every single background object has absolutely no collision meaning you clip straight through.

I played Frontiers, it was mediocre, the last update was actual garbage. Sega has just rotted away expectations to such a degree that they can spend upwards of five years on a game and people will still praise it for being a "step in the right direction".
Blowing away expectations when there are none is not an achievement, and it should never be treated as a good thing. The straight lines in Green Hill would at least like slope and curve around and have dynamic shadows so it felt more interesting than literally just a straight line with the camera zoomed all the way out for you to really take in how much of the level just has nothing going on.

Reminder that working on Heroes nearly killed Iizuka and he was inspired by Jak II to make Shadow. That's two games he worked on which were critical flops and were victims of the Sonic cycle.
Heroes was so rushed Iizuka slept at the office and nearly died making it and the team at STI was burned out and barely cared making Shadow. Development moved back to Japan for 06 and SR and Iizuka became less involved.
In a way, Xbox is a continuation of the Dreamcast. Sega had to switch from a SA1/SA2 proprietary engine to Renderware to get Heroes running on a PS2 because Sony effectively forced them at gunpoint. Shadow, on the other hand, was made by an indifferent team with no passion left. Iizuka was phoning in here

Simply, Frontiers feels like Forces.
Not Stiff, but very Snappy. With High Acceleration Turning and Jumping.
Look at how Shadow moves fast after the Homing Attack. He also has Chaos Spear, and all those cutscene attacks, similar to Frontiers.
Generations is like Unleashed, much slower, but more fluid. Walking to running takes effect, making a fight in an arena like the Helicopter Pad scene much harder to control. Jumping is more precise and harder to turn from.
Just play or look at a video of the two and you’ll immediately see.
Outside of that, the small level things like Dash Pads in a lot of areas and specifically to turn the corner when going up the wall instead of a smooth turn.

Imagine Adventure 1 with:
Higher Acceleration, almost forced.
Harder to turn at running speeds
Fake Physics / Only Forward Momentum
Stiffer Jump Turning, but Spindash Air Turning is much Smoother when launched.
Slower Speed Cap unless modified in the options.

They were always the same engine. Modders can make tweaks to a simple file to change the game physics so it's certainly trivial for Sega to have the Generations physics for the remaster and something else for the expansion
The games feel different though, pretty sure Lost World used the same engine as Generations but the physics were completely different.
Then Forces and Frontiers used those same/tweaked Lost World physics, which is why they feel that way they do.

The straight lines in Green Hill would at least like slope and curve around and have dynamic shadows so it felt more interesting than literally just a straight line with the camera zoomed all the way out for you to really take in how much of the level just has nothing going on.
Those sections had some visual flair to them, they didn't feel cheap like this does

I played Frontiers, it was mediocre, the last update was actual garbage. Sega has just rotted away expectations to such a degree that they can spend upwards of five years on a game and people will still praise it for being a "step in the right direction".

Reminder that working on Heroes nearly killed Iizuka and he was inspired by Jak II to make Shadow. That's two games he worked on which were critical flops and were victims of the Sonic cycle.
Heroes was so rushed Iizuka slept at the office and nearly died making it and the team at STI was burned out and barely cared making Shadow. Development moved back to Japan for 06 and SR and Iizuka became less involved.
In a way, Xbox is a continuation of the Dreamcast. Sega had to switch from a SA1/SA2 proprietary engine to Renderware to get Heroes running on a PS2 because Sony effectively forced them at gunpoint. Shadow, on the other hand, was made by an indifferent team with no passion left. Iizuka was phoning in here

Sonic 06 onwards is a new group entirely, due to the reestructuring caused by Sammy merger and biggest example of crunch because of its infamous holiday 2006 release date being forced on an unfinished game
