You have to go full speed or full tank in this game. Medium builds are dogshit because they can neither dodge nor tanks and cannot max out on big guns or close fast enough to use the most broken melee memes.
What worked for me was staying under his ass as much as possible so he doesn't spam you with that rocket move.

Different people find different things challenging. I've seen people b***h about being stuck on Juggernaut but I beat it on my first try. And then a mission or two later I died against the four unknown MTs (the camouflaged ones) like five times until I could beat it.
Is KBM better for this game? Having to keep fingers on all 4 top buttons, 2 sticks, and 4 pad buttons at the same fricking time just isn't working.

kbm is great imo. game is very chaotic so fast camera movement is very useful.
If you're more familiar with KBM then use that. I'm the opposite and have no issues with a pad but with KBM my AC is like a runaway freight train. But I've never been a KBM fan outside of a select few games.

Don’t dodge towards the one that covers both directions. Assault boost away from it. Remember no iframes. You could also swap your gear to something more explosive.

Beat him after at least an hour with starter mech weapons, replacing 4 missile with 8 missile, and some limb upgrades
Being fast is helpful, but his moves are both telegraphed and learnable. Keep up the pressure, dont spam dodge and run out of stamina and get those staggers.
Its the first burst of difficulty. Then you get the spider which is annoying with how much it hits you when you were nowhere near the place it hit. Later on Ibis is a whole other ball of bullshit

Took me two. I went into the stage with pulse saber and pile driver on the left and the starter rifle and missile on a reverse leg build. I thought it was going to be a breather stage I could experiment around in.

I got the death roomba on... I think 4th or 5th try? Mostly took learning how high I had to be over his smoke stack. When I went back to get the last piece of the Wrecker set he didn't even damage me.
I did die like a moron to the tetra just outside the bossroom on my first go-around though. Felt had about that.
Killdozer was surprisingly easy for me. Figured out early what loadout I need, but I kept fricking up and boosting into his attacks when he had sub 25% health. Happened at least 4 times. Cool aesthetic, though.

i just reached the spider and my button mashing strats arent working anymore mostly due to the spider not really taking any damage what so ever. i either play tank and do damage but i cant dodge, or i play light and i can dodge and actually take part of the boss design but do no damage. this might be where i consider myself done with the game to be honest. combat mostly feels like a cluster frick i'm not really controlling

I doubt that, honestly. Unless someone had the pulse blade and played very defensively I don't doubt that the fight would take several attempts minimum. His rockey barrage could at best chip you, but once he hits phase 2, you're definitely getting flamed on and blasted in the face.

For some anons the standard procedure is to watch a guide on the fight beforehand. This is practically required in MMOs, for example.
I'll believe it. For MMOs I understand and I've done it before. I'd hate to do that for single player games. I want to win because I figured the fight out not because someone else did the thinking for me. The skill of maneuvering through the fight itself is just a part of it all.

Try to stay close, but don't overextend your energy as you need to stay mobile. You can actually bumrush him at the start and get a charged melee attack in if you can get under him with minimal damage from the rockets as they all hit him instead (no noticeable damage, sadly). You're going to have to get a bit of a feel for it, but he has openings in his attacks where you can get at least a single melee swing in (I'm using the sword that has the two-hit charge attack, it has crazy range so the 2nd attack tends to connect if the first misses). Why does every mech I see posted in these thread looks straight out of an "optimal DPS loadout" youtube video? Not a single tracked chassis.
Balteus is a hard check on aggressiveness and tacticool play. Aggro on the 1st phase and more defensive on 2nd phase because of the flame swords. If you know how to deal with them or have a proper build that can deal with those two things, you're already good to go. Made me realize that I was too defensive and stubborn in one single style of play. Fricker made me spend hours checking my weapons and parts thinking I had the wrong rig until I realized I just needed to be far more aggressive to get his ass.
I think you can unironically do well with any weapon as long as you know how to use your gear, with people using the linear rifle and the plasma sword and other crazy weapon pairs. My winning set was the plasma missile launcher and the vertical missile launcher paired with the plasma sword and the linear rifle.

How the frick do you beat missile defense mission, what's the trick? This is genuinely unfair, they have virtually no health
so are plasma missiles just useless? i use them against Rocket Man but they do almost zero damage to shield from the looks of it and I wind up just using the sword. I used them against his bodyguard who I know doesn't have shields but even then when he would obviously dodge into more explosions he would take zero damage
Plasma is way better than the regular multi-missiles especially against other AC. But close range shit like songbird is still very good.
plasma does damage over time in the area it hits, if they move out they stop getting hurt, at least that's my headcanon why they seem so bad

protip based on that clip: boost kick when you finish your melee. It cancels it and is free extra damage. It would've knocked him back and given you some breathing room and let the rest of your salvo kill.

a boss that revs up for a swipe except one time I'd be too close to jump it and it's impossible to know in advance.

balteus missiles which might hit you for 200 or 1000 damage, there's no consistent play because you're always at a different range.
that consistency which souls has is nice. this game has dice rolls for which enemy attacks, which attack, combination, whether they dash dodge my attack, whether my attack lands when we both move around fast(I think that's the stat the cpu improves)
I do enjoy this game, I just wish it had more consistency, consistent answers to every scenario.

When I learned the top part was even weaker if you aimed straight down the middle then it became not too hard to S rank.

The game is really casual. You are encouraged to change your build MID-MISSION and heal as much as it takes to then come back and shit on them with better unlocks. You're playing in an economy now that offers little build variety and assault rifles are pretty much a good standard work horse at the start of the game. It's hard to fail, focus on getting better.

I just got past the spider boss. Given he was talking about redoing dams and asking about later payouts I assumed he was still pretty early. Dams has a pretty good payout for how fast it is.
Bart feels more like an "is your AC actually well built" filter more than a "are you skilled" filter. I got pretty thoroughly blocked by it for a while but never really thought "this is bullshit*", just "man I need to redo X on my AC to avoid it"
I ended up beating it with 2x plasma smgs and 2x laser pistols.
*Apart from it randomly mixing in its howitzer with 0 warning and chunking my AP, usually it flies in the air before firing it but sometimes it just blasts one seemingly at random.

Why the frick the weapon bay shit its only aplicable to left side besides the bullshit excuse of dual wielding and having melee weapon?

I'm in chapter 3 now and I still get the feeling that the controls don't work half the time
I see an enemy attack coming, press dodge to get away and either my mech does nothing or a small hop that barely moves it or it jumps in a different direction than I input and in all cases it just eats the attack face-first
The Seaspider is wrecking me right now simply because my dude refuses to follow my orders when under attack
Same, honestly feels like ACfans are trying a bit too hard prove something to someone.
