No, Nips notoriously accept and disregard advice on arbitrary whims. It doesn't help that Makoto was definitely weighted by wishlistgays. I like her but I doubt that she'd be that high if she were already in the game
>Makoto is very popular and my money will be withheld if she is not included!! >can't even boost sales of the first SF4 expansion
Capcom will never give in to a loud minority with no money
At best SF4 has around 5.3 million individual sales since all the rest are the same people buying the game 4 times. Meanwhile Juri has been in 4, 5 and 6 while "Miss number 2 in the popularity poll" got skipped over in 5 and isn't planned for 6.

this is also the game that brought back rashid and dee jay before any ammount of fan favorites
no offense towards either one, I think they're cool, but think about it

This is some mind bending mental gymnastics to blame this on one single character and not the sales model.
I'm not the crying about Makoto's popularity and witholding money when her inclusion did nothing to improve SF4's success

If you are going to say that it was a downward spiral, and that most people bought the game again after her inclusion anyway so sales are skewed, that would mean they are buying every version of SF4 because of Makoto. They were literally the ones supporting the game until the final version released and more people bought in to the complete package.

>they are buying every version of SF4 because of Makoto
which is wrong because Super sold almost one half the number of copies the original game did and AE in turn sold one third less copies than Super did. Ultra finally turned it around by selling as much as Super did rather than losing players.

Alright, the Capcom report still puts Super over Ultra so I'm not sure how accurate 1.9mil actually is or how heavily they are rounding since I saw it having 1.8. Again, if we are to blame this on one character, she made as many sales as sf6 happen and no whining about the 9million total sales being false changes that number.

>she made as many sales as sf6 happen
yeah man, never mind that's what SF6 sold in one month while it's been over 13 years for SSF4

SSF4 was there for 1 year before sales started going towards Arcade Edition, Ultra even overwrote it completely on steam when it released.

So you think SF6 sales aren't going to hit 2 million in one year, or ever? Guess we'll have to see if that happens.

I think it had a lot of hype behind it for changing things up after SFV and people like it, so yes a mainline game that's not an expansion will probably break 2mil in a year easily. But if it's competing with all of 4, they will need to add characters that players want.
Anonymous
I mean if it's competing with all of 4 then all it has to do is sustain over 1.2 million players throughout its entire run, since that's the amount of people who bothered to get AE, i.e. the actual hardcore players who stuck with it the whole way through
9 months ago
Anonymous
If it's competing with all of 4 it has to surpass total sales including the 3DS version, no weird hang ups about hardcore players matters in the world of money.

>it has to surpass total sales
Nah, because most of those sales are just the same people buying the same game to stay relevant in the tournament scene, i.e. the hardcores who bought AE
I wasn't the one who wanted to make this distinction

Well tell the anon at the start of the thread that doesn't matter because the total sales for every version still stack up, and you're going to need a mighty credible source if you want to give a more "accurate number".

We're comparing apples and oranges between SF4 and SFV
SFV never forced people to buy entirely new games to stay relevant in the tourney scene, the system/engine updates were free to anyone who owned the game. If you wanted to stay current in SF4 you had to BUY the latest versions, i.e. SSF4, AE and Ultra. Essentially people were forced to buy the same game 4 times or wouldn't be able to practice what was the tournament standard game.

No shit, that's why the initial claim of Makoto impacting anything at all turned stupid instantly
[...]
she's sales repellent anyway
>she's sales repellent anyway
So now we have a game being released several times being compared to games that update itself with DLC, negating any and all talks of who is buying what version or system.
This whole thread is a waste of time to say that a few people don't like Makoto and yet she is ranked 2nd in popularity. A loud minority complaining about a loud minority.

>that's why the initial claim of Makoto impacting anything at all turned stupid instantly
Correct, so once again her addition didn't contribute anything towards SF4's success and threatening to withhold money due to her non-inclusion is a toothless boast. Glad you could figure that out. >So now we have a game being released several times being compared to games that update itself with DLC, negating any and all talks of who is buying what version or system
Wrong. The point of the comparison is to show that a good chunk of SF4's sales were coerced/forced whereas every sale of SFV was an organic choice/decision, hence 4's sales total should be reduced based on those coerced/forced sales

No one cares about your grudge against this character, V sold less than IV, and 6 is too new to count in since it hasn't even had a single add-on. The comparison falls apart when you realize what is being compared, and it all boils down to an idiot hating Makoto.

anyone ever feel like some characters like makoto or baiken get shat on unfairly?
it's always "oh they aren't actually popular it's a loud minority" or "the fans don't actually play the game"
like who fricking cares they're cute and fun to play
Baiken actually is popular, simply as a character and by usage

People shit on them because they have coomer fanbases that don't play, that's all. Everyone gets just as hype about characters like Cody and then proceed to not play him but it isn't as funny because Cody isn't a coomer-bait woman.
>seth in sfv, who was originally supposed to be the final dlc character, has moves from various capcom characters not in street fighter, like demitri and wesker >also has makoto's axe kick
soon
Don't worry, characters that were already released last game or at all will come back for just a measly $15 - 20 dollars as DLC. Even though they can just bring them all over instead
it's because she's so popular that you haven't seen her. obviously they're going to be more strategic where they drop her. she has to be dlc because they know she'll sell like hotcakes. they'll drop her or Dudley as the final character for a dlc season later on in the games life but not so late that the next game is on the horizon. anywhere from season 2 to 4.
they have actual gameplay data from SF4 and know that its all just non playing posers participating in polls in hopes of getting more porn made for their waifu rather than actual players.
>Data from Street Fighter 4.
Might as well say play metrics from SF5 matters as well when that game is also a heaping pile of shit that nobody played. Metrics are skewed when the game is garbage.
Makoto should have replaced Manon. I'm a Manon main and just watched some Makoto gameplay for the first time, she looks way stronger and way more fun to play as a speedy grappler. They fumbled the bag with Manon, she fighting style barely stands out, especially because she's so weak you don't even get to see half her moves before you beat her.
>she looks way stronger
Yeah thats her issue, Makoto had ToD combos that weren't very high execution
Also >Manon >weak
homie she's upper mid tier, you shouldn't see half her moves because you should have won with less
>has ToDs in 3rd strike
>has instant overhead pressure in 4
These are not acceptable in modern fighting games. Only characters with shitty gimmicks
No, Nips notoriously accept and disregard advice on arbitrary whims. It doesn't help that Makoto was definitely weighted by wishlistgays. I like her but I doubt that she'd be that high if she were already in the game
Sorry bro, attractive women aren't allowed in SF6
you know, I would've expected someone to go >attractive by now
I think it's more that this cartoony exaggerated artstyle looks bizarre in this engine to be fair
FGC is a fricking joke
MK and Street Fighter Black folk need to kys
I know right!?!???! I wish cammy and juri were wait.....

But what about Ash Ketchum in a karate gi?
>take karate gi off
>suddenly becomes a supermodel per the concept art
the appeal is lost on you
Can she take off her face too?
that's a strange fetish
You don't play.
prove it
Manon already fulfills the same gameplay niche of a speedier grappler.
yeah, but Manon is shit.
She fine, her spin just needs an adjustment.
Laura > Makoto > Manon
No Makoto, no buy.
Simple as.
Based and true.
she's sales repellent anyway

When SFV breaks 9 million then you can call Makoto a deal breaker
At best SF4 has around 5.3 million individual sales since all the rest are the same people buying the game 4 times. Meanwhile Juri has been in 4, 5 and 6 while "Miss number 2 in the popularity poll" got skipped over in 5 and isn't planned for 6.

Q got 4th place, and if you believe the theories he got revamped for SFV so who knows.

if that was that big of an issue then high tier play wouldn't be dominated by chun and yun
That's because Chun Li is outright better than every other character and Yun has Genei Jin
homie said fumbled the bag
