This Victoria 2 clone started a Kickstarter campaign and got funded in three days (they were only asking for $20.000 or so).
Thoughts?
Opinions?
Anything?
I'm kinda tempted to donate myself.

Seem interesting
I will buy it if the game is out
Looks interesting and probably not a Chinese scam.
The laws are generalized and highly adaptable, leaders and influential figures actually exist and have their own impacts, the warfare can be automated or fully controlled, and there's a detailed population system. The economy is real with actual production and consumption of goods and said goods have to be transported in order to be bought or sold. The logistics of the economy can be disrupted by warfare, allowing for disproportionate impact and strategically important locations whether for production or transport. It also seems that it isn't like plenty of other games where making the government as powerful as possible to directly control everything is just the objectively correct move (whether that be from the game making it actively beneficial or just lacking the systems to make other things work). It has more simulationist aspects which is definitely something I like to see. They're also making it very easy to mod which is great.
I decided to throw some money at them half because it looks good and half because I want to make a pony mod.
>I want to make a mod
Hmm I don't have high hopes on that-
Sounds cool
>goods have to be transported in order to be bought or sold. The logistics of the economy can be disrupted by warfare
Do we have any footage confirming that or is it just dev promises?
Sounds too good to be true.
They have a Youtube channel a good number of development diaries.
So we have information in how the mechabics work but not real gameplay of the game.
Well we don't have actual footage of much of anything yet aside from the map and its editor.
>Sounds too good to be true.
EU5 is going to have this.
>$20k
Wait, what?
What are you asking about?
They were asking for 20.000 dollars to fund the project.
The base game is already fully funded by an investor, the kickstarter is just for the free publicity and some extra content beyond the base game so they aren't asking for much
Who's the investor? Do we know?
Yeah, it's the founders of GameBear Tech. It's a Hong Kong mobile game company who are apparently rolling in dough after making some successful space mobile game, they also ended working under Paradox for that one Stellaris mobile game. Now the founders are just tossing money around to small companies who want to make GSGs
NTA but didn't know Paradox had made mobile slop lmao.
I'll pirate it if it ever releases and buy it if it's good
I'm actually very hopeful for this. Looks a lot more promising than grey eminence. They plan on making it easily moddable which is a big +. Unfortunately they don't plan on dynamic states being there on release. Idk if that means they plan to add that as a feature after release tho.
I looking forward for it, after Vic3 turn out as slop. Looking forwards to moding it too.
We don't know the granularity of the pop system.
It's nowhere mentioned and that makes me suspect that it is on a state level, in which case it's still a downgrade from Victoria 2. This would also explain why they haven't shown a culture map mode, because that would reveal it.
Other than that, the game looks very promising.
That's a good point.
I just checked and indeed, it is on the province level.
Doing too many things at the hex level would be moronic because it would mean places like the sahara desert having the same resolution as important places (Europe)
>it's just not practical with the computers out on the market today
Choose one of:
A) They want to build a simulator, not a game
B) They cannot optimise
C) A & B
Someone please donate, I want those North American military sprites
There is no way they get to more than that stretch goal.
The Meiji one is a scumbag move.
>This Victoria 2 clone
Is that a bad thing? All it seems to be doing is taking what Vic2 did best and improving on it. The editor is also extremely promising.
I didn't use it as something bad, but it is pretty much a Vicky 2 clone.
>All it seems to be doing is taking what Vic2 did best and improving on it.
Really obvious things that everyone wanted in a Vicky sequel like trade being based on logistics and distance too
Yeah I can't imagine being stupid enough to make a Vicky sequal without that
Remeber that the devs of Victoria 3 don't believe in World War I.
moronic ESL post
How the frick is my post ESL, Black person.
>resources ain't magically created out of nother when the player isn't looking
Holy, based devs can't stop dabbing on Paracucks.
From what I saw in the video dev diaries it looks really promising, like they're actually iterating on what Victoria 2 did instead of it just being a copy like OpenVic or a mess like Victoria 3. But all these indie attempts at overthrowing Paradox look promising at first, look at Grey Eminence and look at how it ended up.
Yea but the difference is, they got some money from elsewhere and not super reliant on crowdfunding. Also head Dev is ex-paradox.
Who?
>look at Grey Eminence and look at how it ended up
Grey Eminence was always a meme, anyone above 100 iq saw that it was going to go nowhere.
Because...?
you are moronic
too big of a scope and no funds
remember dont believe the hype of literally who devs until 1.0 is actually out
