Malwarebytes. As for windows update, I tried a bunch of suggested fixes on forums and even some microshit tool specifically for it, none of it worked to reenable them so I just left it broken as is because it's actually an improvement. I must say I'm impressed, given how windows updates have the tendency to be difficult to disable the normal way (they reenable themselves, overwrite your registry edits, etc).

Depends on how good you are with tech. You should have your internets filters up to block the malware that his repacks try to install over their 2 hour installation. Your anti-virus won't save you as everything will appear to be normal and secure.

I can't go back to repacks now that most games get portable releases right out of the gates. Just download and play, no strings attached. Probably more update-friendly too but I haven't tried that.
