The gaming laptop appreciates in value.
No, use a workstation.
The only use case of a gaming laptop is if you travel a lot, but even then due to the fact it runs off a battery and you’re going to be gaming on it (which is resource heavy) it will only last like 2 hours maximum. You can keep the DC jack plugged to circumvent this but you would need a supply of power and you’d need to be next to said supply constantly.
my non gaming laptop that's even underclocked to minimum clock speed and using tlp lasts only 2 hours
you're fully of shit. any laptop that isnt m1 apple is not gonna last because of inherent problem of x86-64 that never was good for optimized battery experience
2 hours MAXIMUM. There are lightweight games that people play out there and also the fact modern laptops have higher battery capacities, but it’s still bad either way.
Sounds like a windows problem
M1 lasts so long not because arm is so much better. That's because the SOC takes so little space they can fit twice the amount of batteries as before
why did battery capacity decrease then?
Lighter weight batteries.
pic related is a meme, right?
My 5800U laptop lasts 8+ hours on a light load.
Same. i5 10500U but lasts 10 hours instead of 8.
>10 hours
how?
i have 2c2t laptop that's underclocked and is COLD. but only lasts 2 hours tops. what is your secret? i start to suspect maybe having hdd does hurt battery life more than im willing to admit. because i tried everything. underclocking, linux, tlp, not using wi-fi. it's all same. if i do disable wi-fi i might get 3 hours though. it has to be hdd at this point, i have no clue why would a cold underpowered laptop that only has 2 core and no hyperthreading last so little. but the thing is, on linux, i get no hdd spins either. the only times hdd spins when im actually writing, so it's not like it takes power all the time either
>using tlp
lmao this homie uses linux and he expects proper battery life
INSTALL WINDOWS 7 you fricking dipshit, it will double your battery life. Even Windows 8/10 will probably help a bit.
Can you please put a tripcode so you can join the list of filtered sexless sperglords together with bruce and maid anon? thank you wintoddler-kun

Purchase the most powerful computer you can afford, and do whatever you want on it.

Gaming laptops can have better specs for the price when they are new, but that often comes at a cost of decreased reliability. They also tend to cost more on the used market because there are no businesses getting rid of them for cheap + they break more often so there are less of them to go around. Gaming laptops also tend to look more gaudy. It's your call, really. If you are buying used, I'd go for a mobile workstation 100% of the time. If you are buying new, it's your call, really.
mobile workstation with non gayming gpu can runs better with ML (aka infinite coomer porn)
