Steam Deck if you want something that just werks
I want to play recent games at high fps
recent games don't get high FPS on real top-end desktops and you expect a handheld to be able to do it?
Uuhh they're $700 of course i expect playing at least at 60fps
Legion Go will do that, but it will only work for an hour at a time so you;ll have to lower things to increase battery life.

Only Ally/Legion can do 60fps plugged in with charger at low settings in majority of new games.
Then buy a 5090 next year
Don't waste money on these weak handheld devices if you only play at home.
You can buy these $50 controller for your phone and you can stream every single game from your PC/Xbox/PS5 to your superior OLED screen at 120fps.
Latency is negligible nowadays (4-9ms), I completed Lies of P and used parry several times so latency/missing frames is no longer an issue.
If you like Emulation then PSP, PS2, Wii emulation on Android is so good that you get 60fps on every game.
Latest flagship phones like S24 Ultra can even run Switch (Yuzu) games at 30fps.

You can stream on iPhone as well as on iPad, look up moonlight app on appstore.
These controllers have both USB-C and lightning variants.
or, since i'm not poor and or a child, i will just spend more money on something actually comfortable to play that isn't relying on internet connection
The "outdated" Deck still shits all over the competition through sheer versatility and software support. ROG Ally/MSI Claw only have the same dogshit XInput control scheme, making the Legion Go the only viable competitor. Either buy an LCD model for cheap now or wait for a Steam Deck 2.

The Steam Deck will be 5 years old and massively outpeformed by newer RDNA5 handhelds but it’s fanboys will still claim that it’s better based on software and ui alone
they're too expensive for what they actually do and unless you're sitting on a plane 5 days a week you won't actually get that much use out of it

Get it if you value good battery life, it’s not as strong but still gets good performance with better battery life
Rog Ally: No gimmicks, just a powerful handheld. get it if you want the most power without anything else.
Legion GO: The Versatile, get it if you want to be able to play in many different ways.
The Claw: The garbage, get it if you are an idiot.
Any GPD Win: The premium, get them if you value smaller form factors and don’t care about spending more.

The ROG ally is a terrible investment, buy something else.
Deck just works. Might have a bit of a problem with connecting to Wifi during setup on OLED at first but otherwise it's an amazing deal.

I haven't tried any of them, overall they seem like a gimmick but the Deck seems well designed for what it is. The others are missing the mark, lacking in terms of controls and focusing on higher specs which their batteries can't handle. Also desktop Windows is atrocious on a touchscreen so I'd never even consider the Ally.
