I hate being late to any game and just hearing older players talk about how great and fun it used to be CONSTANTLY
I FRICKING GET IT I WISH I WAS THERE OK?? FRICK. LET ME NOT HATE MYSELF FOR MISSING OUT FOR 2 MINUTES

thats' life, get used to it
if you weren't in the og MW2 lobbies for the first 6 months after release then you missed out on the peak of Online gaming.
Sounds like someone missed the Halo 3 days. Everyone mic'd up, sharing custom maps, Big Team Battle, Capture the Flag on Valhalla, Team Slayer on Guardian, damn it was the best.
For me, it was the blender and avalanche maps, with the occasional warthog racer.
crazy to think that 12 years ago you would be flamed to hell and back for this statement on here and now no one cares.
eh, 12 years ago lolcats were still a thing. times change. the future is now, old man.
lolcats were a newbie bastardization of caturday and I'll keep putting icanhazcheeseBlack folk in their place until this shithole finally dies.
I don't remember MechWarrior 2 having lobbies
Haha. You showed him, fellow boomer!
something something FOMO and its consequences
Just stop playing multiplayer games if you can't handle it.
I've noticed a big increase in anons shitting over any and all online games equating older xbox, halo and the like games to today's shit
What's going on? Have they never played old online games or are they just trying to push some moronic "Ganker was always shit" idea but with multiplayer
Multiplayer was always strictly local for me, otherwise I only cared for single player games, you online multiplayer cucks were always cringe to me and always will be.
There is only two cures for FOMO, and one of them is rejecting the idea that something was ever good to begin with so there is no way you ever "missed out" on it.
The other one is not being a b***h about it and finding something else to do with your free time.
You can play old games, moron.
I think OP mostly means online games with communities that have died or shifted so far, along with the games own qualities as well. For example I could play The Hidden again and still do but it's fricking dead and gone in terms of community, I miss it's days
This, plus people who enjoyed those more than the newer ones are always happy to talk about them
not always. I remember playing overwatch on launch day, the first 6-12 months one of the most fun I had in gaming but once they put restriction on hero limits it all started to go downhill. Now I don't even want to know whats going on there, holy shit what a fricking dissapointment that turned out to be, I sure am glad I quit long time ago.
People on Ganker will try to gaslight you and tell you that Overwatch was never good, but the first year of that game was fun as hell.
don't be a smart c**t
>talk about them
I don't want to fricking "talk with them" I want to play with them
You say you miss the hidden and play it as well so where the frick are you??? I've been checking it for days now you lying fricking dumb c**t. You're not playing it at all frick you
Stop playing multiplayer slop, you cuck.
>Verification not required.
Multiplayer other than couch buddies or the equivalent via internet is cringe. Miss me with those "communities"
That doesn't work for online games and internet communities in general.
That is the best solution to deal with OP's FOMO. Play the game everyone says it "used" to be great, find out it sucks "now", simply refuse to accept people used to enjoy it and move on.
How to play heyday TF2?
LITERALLY nothing's stopping you from consuming old media, you're not a consolecuck, are you?
Really? Oh shit!

Hey wait a sec...
>saying this while stopkillinggames shit is going on
Don't keep up with modern slop so I have no clue what this is.
>small studios killing act is going to solve my FOMO problem
have a nice day
kill. your. self.
Be part of the solution,
Dive into a game and form your own opinions ignore the community takes.
Modern games are designed to force you to play every day or fall behind, usually encouraging you to spend hundreds of dollars to "catch up" though we all know you can't really do that. Most gacha and GAAS is completely unapproachable if you haven't played from the beginning.
If you want to play a game, just avoid playing a game that is nothing more than a treadmill. Avoid shit like Genshin Impact or Helldivers 2 and play stuff that you can play yourself where the overarching goal isn't to log in every day to get your pennies worth of power.
Additionally, the "glory days" of 90% of shit people talk about are just flashes of nostalgia over their advanced stages of stockholm syndrome. Anything that is not GAAS or online-dependent can be experienced fully at any time, while online-dependent games can usually be played to some capacity. If someone is going on about the times they enjoyed playing a game that had a playerbase of 17 players before shutting down, you can just ignore that. For example, there are maybe 2-3 guys who are super vocal about how good PSO was yet the largest private server is deader than Ultima Online private servers or even the most mediocre Ragnarok Online private servers.
Quit getting swept away in GAAS or the opinions of the lowest common denominator.
>old FPS
>start comfy size map
>guns are all placed in the same spots for you to learn
>get optimal guns and take an advantage
>Leads to fights over specific points on the map where the best weapons are, as those can swing the game
>Games opt more to have a pre-match loadout. Still fairly acceptable. You can still occasionally loot dropped guns.
>Leads to camping as you're not encouraged to actually look around the map or go to any objective
>Actually no now we're going to cash in on this, people will be able to buy better guns and ones with fancy skins.
>someone gets fed up of this and makes an older style FPS
>You start with shit, have to find better guns just like the old days
>Frick it up by making the map 200x bigger than it needs to be and making it fixed to you-only-live-once mode meaning you're likely to have no combat 15 minutes straight only to get skulled by a sniper.
FPS games have gone to shit.
>there are maybe 2-3 guys who are super vocal about how good PSO was yet the largest private server is deader than Ultima Online private servers or even the most mediocre Ragnarok Online private servers.
Shthck had a couple of hundred players pre-covid. It's just people gradually moving on from it.
Your average ragnarok server has like 5 players. Even the highest ones peak at like maybe 50 or 60 actual players as everyone is running alts and bots on those.
And both ultima and ragnarok were way more popular than PSO in the first place, it's common sense they'd have bigger private servers. Especially since RO had more people (se:BRs) playing private servers than official.
>was late to global agenda's pvp peak
>just barely caught the tail end of Ascend pre plasma cannons
>was late to hawken
>was late to SMNC
>was late to gigantic no I won't buy the DoA re-relaunch.
>was late to paragon
Have you ever thought about that it was the glory days because people like (you) werent there yet?
Usually games and communities go to shit when theres too many players. See FF14 since ShB and Monster Hunter since World
This is how I feel about Helldivers 2 Creek, even though the game is still going strong, every one and their grandpa is talking about the creek defence days as an epic campaign and all the clips of it look 50x cooler than what I'm experiencing now during the second automaton invasion. I came late and now I have to deal with it i guess, but frick I wish I could experience what the creek was like, people won't shut the frick up about it
i'm just gonna say it - if you missed out on vanilla WoW through wrath of the lich king, you missed out on maybe the best gaming moment of all time. i quit that shit when cata dropped and nothing has ever filled that niche again. with the modern internet/general state of the world, it will never be like that again.
I used to keep playing until they burned teldrassil and i couldnt pretend anymore. You really have no idea how much this statement hurt me
>watching older dark souls vids
>grounds a light show, summons everywhere
>my first time booting it up
>just find messages saying "no dark spirit ahead, let there be tears"
>tribes ascend
>first heard about it from Ganker v reddit
>caught it literally the last few weeks before the servers shat themselves
>have the best hours of the past months, even the community was fun
>devs rape their own game and I can't log in anymore
It was the perfect kind of action I loved and this game sat under my nose for years until I found it on its death bed. Now i have to jump through 4000 hoops just to get into a half dead server.
Life is like that OP
There is probably a game out there RIGHT NOW that would fill every niche you ever wanted and it's slowly rotting away waiting for you to find it. Same with forgotten shows, musicians who just went off grid and stopped making music just when you've started listening.
It's all just a game of catch up. Nothing you can do but cope
You sound like a teen, grow the frick up and get off FOMOs
How is tribes ascend fomo? I literally can't play it properly anymore, an entire game. Frick off
>Being a FOMO junkie
YOU are the reason the games go to shit, you don't care about the game, you just want to be a social parasite
someone got the complex and intricate version o this image?
This happened to me in FFXI and TF2 in 2004 and 2009 respectively.
>get in early on something you really love
>it dies
>skip out on something that's still early access or some other principle
>ya missed out bro, it's dead now
