>Go back to DMCV
>Having fun with Nero, remembering how tight Exceed timings are and how bad I am at them
>Get to V's section
>Immediately lose all will to keep replaying the game
I forgot how early he's introduced. I even like him as a character a lot, but his gameplay is so dogshit I just can't.
I never even got to very hard mode because I just can't be fricked with this clunky butthole.
bro you can just spam through his sections without a brain even on hard and still get SSS rank on every fight.
the point is that V gameplay is so annoying and gimmicky that even this much is just a pain in the ass to do
DMC V without turbo is almost unplayable I almost dropped the game after the first playthrough
>DMCV
>unironically getting Viltered
morons out themselves every time.
Nero is ass to play as, but exceed is entirely unneeded, just press the button everytime you attack and treat it as a bonus you get once in a while, his biggest problem is most of his moveset is gatekept by unswitchable consumable items.
V is actually pretty nice to play as, once you stop accidentally using that shitty griffin move, I get the hate though he's clunky
V and Nero are both bad. DMC5 was saved by the Vergil DLC.
vergin just full clears screens with 0 effort tho
Your point being?
How to fix Vergil
1) summon swords, including trick-marking sword, fire from Concentration
2) Judgment Cut fires from Concentration
3) Vergil takes more damage at Concentration 0
There, all fixed.
>Add even more resource management to a character with three fricking meters in a game plagued with resource management
Vergil is a power trip character, he needs no fixing except, maybe, give him a reason to use his super moves in normal state instead of SDT, I find none
>Add even more resource management to a character with three fricking meters in a game plagued with resource management
Doesn’t he only have 2? I forget how his SDT works
Vergil’s concentration mechanic is the best thing about him. The problem is spamming jackpots and summon swords is too easy and risk-free. Making them contingent upon concentration gives you a reason to play him better.
There's literally nothing clunky about V at all, just stop being small brained and viewing his summons as ranged attacks when they're literally seperate characters on the field, learn how different moves affect their positioning
DMC5 has camera sensitive controls, it becomes a big problem when you are controlling 3 characters all over the field 2 of which are way out of focus
The inputs are always relative to V for this exact reason, it might feel weird at first but it's much better than the alternative where it's a clusterfrick of keeping track of exactty what direction each summon is facing
This.
I realized the "optimal" and probably intended way to play V is to just read the book for meter regen, and keep spamming specials to reposition and do overlapping moves with the familiars. It becomes like you're playing with a mage and have to keep doing some sort of rotation. Hella fun tbh. What the heck, I think I'll go do some V missions
Bro, you don't get it, V is a test run for DD2's summoner vocation! Itsuno is a god!!!
>creates the abomination that is trickster instead
man shitsuno is really fricking moronic
V gameplay is just boring, Nero is surprisingly deep but you can't switch arms just because and base dante is the best part of the game.
Nero would have been fine if they committed to the breaker mechanic more fully. The problem is the game doesn’t do enough to make CLAIMING breakers interesting. It feels like what they wanted was the Streets of Rage effect where you find a weapon, use it up, discard it, and keep going, but in order for that to work the weapon needs to be finite-use from the start and finding the next one needs to be a consistent process. Instead they made it possible to play Nero without breaking his arms and rarely gave you good replacements so everyone just picked a favorite and kept it on-hand for the entire mission.
Playing Bloody Palace with Nero made me understand breakers. When you have to start with nothing, you know that you have a re-up coming every 10 floors, and you can choose your loadout, you load for what’s coming and dispose of them readily. They needed to find a way to get that feeling in-mission without relying on the shop.
Ganker actually gets really good when you learn to use him.
It's been a while since I last played but I remember liking V at the start, but when I began unlocking more and more stuff for everyone he started to feel lacking. I wish he at least had some kind of exceed/just cut of his own. You could time the finishers to chain them fast but they are just that, a finisher to get rid of a guy that is already dead (and if you really need to chain them fast for multiple enemies then you can just royal cane them all at once anyway).
chaining finishers builds more dt iirc, so it's not totally without merit
Yeah and royal cane costs dt instead so it absolutely does have it's use, I just wish he had something similar that's actually tied to beating down the enemies faster instead of just deleting their corpse from the field. You won't really get to chain finishers on a 1v1 boss fight.
Bayonetta did this gameplay better. Seriously, why do DMC fans still claim that Bayonetta is the worse game, if I remember only Bayonetta lets me juggle giant enemies.
Bayo 3's demon slave mechanic was dogshit and slowed the game down to a crawl, V's gameplay at least move at the speed of DMC
bayo 3 lets you queue up moves instantly so you can work with the demon
v has literally one attack and it costs DT
if you thought V plays better than bayo 3 you're a moron
V is quite dull on the harder difficulties. Having to dodge constantly with Griffon and Shadow to keep them alive is annoying, as is the really long animations and recovery for said dodges.
Higher difficulties is literally when V becomes good because that's when you realize he's actually a DT management character. He can't deal solid damage or revive his pets without DT so you're encouraged to use it sparringly. Nightmare actually becomes a newbie trap on DMD and HoH because he's slow and burns your most precious resource
I'll admit I wasn't very good with him but even with book reading, taunting, dodging, I barely ever had enough DT to buff the two familiars.
Buffing familiars is a noob move, DT is for Nightmare only. Start each fight with his dance taunt, it builds huge DT (due to the style build) and you don’t have to NOT damage enemies to do it. Pop Nightmare with the DT you get, it keeps the familiars alive and nukes everything.
>big nosed israelite uses puppets to fight their battles for them
sasuga capcom
V is fricking piss easy, I didn't have any issues clearing his sections till DMD where I started to actually need to think about how I used my summons. Before that, I was getting SSS like nothing and I was just mashing buttons more often than not and only adjusting when there was an enemy that required a certain way to deal with them. His sections were shit, his kit was boring and requires no thought in the normal difficulties, and he is just a drag to play with next to characters like Nero and Dante.
If we ever get DMC6 and a character similar to him then they need to vastly improve on the concept. Having summons be individual simplified extensions of a moveset and playstyle is interesting but it all goes to shit when you aren't encouraged to think about what you're doing when you can just mash shit, get SSS and kill things without much thought.
Bayonetta and Astral Chain on the Switch are good games
I hated playing as V because every time you double jump or dash out of the way, you're canceling the bird and cat attacks which makes fights last even longer
Because the character is all about management? Git gud
I never said it was difficult, he's tedious to play because killing takes longer. Cat and bird can't keep aggro from all enemies.
I feel like they made a mistake with giving V a close range familiar and a long range familiar, given they're both capable of "long range" relative to V. If it was more the case that Shadow was ground attacks and Griffon was aerial attacks, then you'd have to consciously have to juggle enemies between them for high level play. Griffon being long distance the way he is would also normally mean he's out of range to take damage, so he arbitrarily teleports close to the action as a quick fix. As they are, you just basically spam the frick out of both at the same time, then use Nightmare to get you out of a jam.
Give V himself one or two heavy cost, slow to charge projectile attacks (like Kalina Ann's beam or a summoned cane barrage) to make up for Griffon's lack of longer range attacks, or give Nightmare more inputs to do summoned attacks and I think he'd be much more engaging to play as.
The issue with V is that nothing bad happens if your familiars take damage. The target you need to keep safe is V, and V doesn’t need to be in enemy range to hurt enemies.
What they should have done was have a melee combatant with an ordinary kit, and then had the gun ability control a secondary unit, where both characters share a health pool (if the secondary takes damage, you lose HP). Now you have the advantage of simultaneously attacking with two characters at once, but also the meaningful responsibility to manage their position for safety simultaneously. The long range familiar is harder to reposition because it’s attack controlled, but also tends to operate at a safer distance from the fight, and the big risk is still the character you are controlling.
Imagine something like Dante with Man in Red except it’s Griffon instead. That’s how I’d have done it.

>V's Gankeridya

bump
I liked his angst in DMC4 but in this game Dante seemed to have more depth, which is strange because he's Dante
The only problem with V is that he feels like a first draft character just like DMC4 Nero and he's in a game where every other character has had their playstyle refined. All his fundementals are fun and solid he just lacks some extra polish and like one mechanic to flesh him out
At least V has the best song in the whole game
Potential mod thought it would be a great idea to play like some boring summoner homosexual/fujo-bait.
Fron the genius that birther Trickster
Based Potential-man saves the day again!
>Someone took their time to make that picture
How does DMCV compare to FF16?
I only started with that game
