I jumped to Wasteland 2 immediately after New Vegas. I gave FO4 a shot and it reeks of meddling. It was not only worse than NV but worse than Fo3 which is incredible. F76 is merely a joke. I hope this show tanking drives down the price of the MTG cards, I did want the FO1 ones but I am not paying over $1 for them, so thank you Amazon.

It's going to be turbo-lore rape, but the actual show will be alright, good even. The issue is that it is going to be inextricably linked to lore rape. Honestly, it will be a good challenge to see if vidya is as accepted artistically as television; because most normies have touched Fo4 and at least know that non-feral ghouls are a common thing in the setting.
There were parts of the trailer that looked good. It's obvious that the Brotherhood are going to be evil technofascists, that the NCR is probably going to be #theResistance, and all that garbage which is going to rape the lore. But despite Ganker automatically hating the black guy on principle, I think his one line of dialogue in the trailer was alright, albeit a bit generic and hamfisted, but it does capture the important sense of moral grayness in the setting. I suspect my main issue with it will be the fact that it used pre-existing factions and locations when it would have been fine if it didn't use the most recognizable parts of Fallout and instead put it in like, idk, Texas or something and everything was fresh and new. The actual story and characters will be okay, maybe a bit hokey with some on the nose references to the games.
It's obvious the black guy is the girls love interest, just fueling the fire, made me lose interest in both characters. But i can enjoy the scenery and laugh at NCR gays.

It is 100% just instinct. I think they are playing up the idea of a romance, but when the show comes out, there might be three episodes of potential romance before something happens and the black guy is stuck firmly as a friendzoned deuteragonist.
They've claimed it will be canon but I utterly doubt it will be compatible at even a glance. I think it'd be easy to treat the show as a retelling of the setting that uses the same themes and visual elements. The isometric Fallouts were made with sprites. It takes effort and precious storage space to add more sprites, so Interplay just reused the same power armor BoS and cloaked man sprites for the BoS. Nobody in the Brotherhood of Steel is talking about their huwite purity, it's a limitation from game development without lore consequences around racial purity.

What nuance are you talking about? That 'Blacks don't exist in the Brotherhood' because we never see one in Fallout 1 or 2. In fallout 1 we only ever get a good look at 3 BoS characters, John Maxson, Paladin Rhombus, and Vree. They're white but that's a tiny sample size for the entire organization. You can barely tell the race of any of the other BoS characters in the game because their sprites are so damn pixilated.

Why is nobody addressing the fact they claim the core tenants on Fallout is apparently a vault dweller going to the surface for the first time? That's not even true. Fallout 2 and New Vegas did not follow a Vault Dweller at all.
"Going to the surface for the first time" isn't even a core tenant at all. It's a trope, a common one especially in Bethesda Fallout; but none of those stories relied on the main character being a vault dweller. You could have just as easily made the Lone Wanderer or Nate/Nora just some dude in the Wasteland and all of the ideas of the main plot would still be the same. Only Fallout 1 is reliant on the main character being from a Vault, and only for the final zinger at the end of the story.
This is a beautiful allegorical story crafted by the highest IQ of israelites Hollywood has to offer. The white woman is escaping the vault out into the wild world now that the overseer has allowed feminism. She is going out into this world with the help of her black knight in shining armour showing that they are just alike. meanwhile the old decrepid outdated white ghoul is lingering in the back as his time is running out. Such a beautiful Fallout story.

For whatever reason, people are obsessed with setting details that are only tangentially related to the plots of everything except Fo2. Fo1's main plot doesn't care about pre-War jingoism. FNV's plot only cares about the pre-War insofar as the factions being regurgitations of pre-War ideals; but it makes no precise judgements on pre-War America, and it sure as hell doesn't give a shit about China. Even Fo2 barely cares about China. The weird obsession with the "Great War" and "who launched the first bomb, who was worse, etc." is a uniquely Bethesda thing.

We've seen not one, not two, but FIVE live action adaptations completely flop to varying degrees over the last 3 years, and one succeed (only because the creator threatened to pull the plug if they did ANYTHING he didn't like, and he had final say in every single thing)

The show writers probably didnt want to portray the NCR as the where in new Vegas, a once democratic union that used to be a beacon of hope in the Wasteland to what it is now, a corrupt goverment, locked down by bureaucracy.
So they decided to kick them down a notch, make them the "underdog" good guys fighting the losing battle against the "evil" BOS, and in the end the NCR, BOS and the main characters will have to unite against the real bad guys, the enclave probably, who will all be made up of evil white guys.
In short the NCR was too much like real life US dem goverments, corrupt and bullshit bureaucracy, so they had to do something.
because despite the incompetency and/or corruption of the Government and Military, the NCR is still the faction we've been following in the West Coast since Fallout 1.
We get to see it as a tiny village struggling against scorpions and raiders, to becoming an economic and military powerhouse that can go up against superior forces and win.
Throwing away three games of the NCR being the largest recurring faction speaks volumes about how much of a pissheap this franchise has become. The NCR needed a black eye and a bloody nose, not to be destroyed.

Because getting nuked isn't a fitting end for them. It's a jarring cut down for a faction that has gradually grown and is suddenly facing its end in FNV. The Great War is supposed to be jarring, it's a pretty important part of Fallout's setting and the themes that would get developed all the way until FNV. Dead Money even refers to the Great War as a flashbulb that kept the Sierra Madre forever trapped in time.

I jumped to Wasteland 2 immediately after New Vegas. I gave FO4 a shot and it reeks of meddling. It was not only worse than NV but worse than Fo3 which is incredible. F76 is merely a joke. It's going to be turbo-lore rape, but the actual show will be alright, good even. The issue is that it is going to be inextricably linked to lore rape. Honestly, it will be a good challenge to see if vidya is as accepted artistically as television; because most normies have touched Fo4 and at least know that non-feral ghouls are a common thing in the setting.

There were parts of the trailer that looked good. It's obvious that the Brotherhood are going to be evil technofascists, that the NCR is probably going to be #theResistance, and all that garbage which is going to rape the lore. But despite Ganker automatically hating the black guy on principle, I think his one line of dialogue in the trailer was alright, albeit a bit generic and hamfisted, but it does capture the important sense of moral grayness in the setting. I suspect my main issue with it will be the fact that it used pre-existing factions and locations when it would have been fine if it didn't use the most recognizable parts of Fallout and instead put it in like, idk, Texas or something and everything was fresh and new. The actual story and characters will be okay, maybe a bit hokey with some on the nose references to the games.
It's obvious the black guy is the girls love interest, just fueling the fire, made me lose interest in both characters. But i can enjoy the scenery and laugh at NCR gays.

I think it'd be easy to treat the show as a retelling of the setting that uses the same themes and visual elements. The problem I have with modern fallout is a lack of context. The lore is never consistent, and if the lore isn't consistent then there is nothing to latch onto. In fallout 1 we only ever get a good look at 3 BoS characters, John Maxson, Paladin Rhombus, and Vree. They're white but that's a tiny sample size for the entire organization. You can barely tell the race of any of the other BoS characters in the game because their sprites are so damn pixilated.

It's a trope, a common one especially in Bethesda Fallout; but none of those stories relied on the main character being a vault dweller. You could have just as easily made the Lone Wanderer or Nate/Nora just some dude in the Wasteland and all of the ideas of the main plot would still be the same. Only Fallout 1 is reliant on the main character being from a Vault, and only for the final zinger at the end of the story.

FNV's plot only cares about the pre-War insofar as the factions being regurgitations of pre-War ideals; but it makes no precise judgements on pre-War America, and it sure as hell doesn't give a shit about China. Even Fo2 barely cares about China. The weird obsession with the "Great War" and "who launched the first bomb, who was worse, etc." is a uniquely Bethesda thing.

We've seen not one, not two, but FIVE live action adaptations completely flop to varying degrees over the last 3 years, and one succeed (only because the creator threatened to pull the plug if they did ANYTHING he didn't like, and he had final say in every single thing)

The show writers probably didnt want to portray the NCR as the where in new Vegas, a once democratic union that used to be a beacon of hope in the Wasteland to what it is now, a corrupt goverment, locked down by bureaucracy.
So they decided to kick them down a notch, make them the "underdog" good guys fighting the losing battle against the "evil" BOS, and in the end the NCR, BOS and the main characters will have to unite against the real bad guys, the enclave probably, who will all be made up of evil white guys.
In short the NCR was too much like real life US dem goverments, corrupt and bullshit bureaucracy, so they had to do something.

because despite the incompetency and/or corruption of the Government and Military, the NCR is still the faction we've been following in the West Coast since Fallout 1.
We get to see it as a tiny village struggling against scorpions and raiders, to becoming an economic and military powerhouse that can go up against superior forces and win.
Throwing away three games of the NCR being the largest recurring faction speaks volumes about how much of a pissheap this franchise has become. The NCR needed a black eye and a bloody nose, not to be destroyed.
It was never the Legion's intent to destroy the NCR.
And also it's because the NCR IS West Coast Fallout. They're the actual emblem of the progress and history of 1/2/NV and how much the setting has changed and advanced since the war.
They're an entire civilization with modern cities and large population centers. Not morons squatting in shacks and living amongst 200 year old skeletons like East Coast Fallout.
Because getting nuked isn't a fitting end for them. It's a jarring cut down for a faction that has gradually grown and is suddenly facing its end in FNV. Getting randomly destroyed by a nuke is dumb as frick, and is way too unceremonious of an end for a group that traces all the way back from Fallout 1.
