Pretty much everything they ever showed was fake. It was marketed as a The Last of Us meets The Division 1 MMO thing but it's actually a shitty 32 player Tarkov clone. The tarkov clone thing could have been fine but they did pretty much everything wrong. Would have been fine if it was f2p or something. And by fine I mean the company probably wouldn't have shut down 4 days after launch, game still would have sucked dick.

Nothing worked, the map was tiny, you can only go in like 5 buildings, the loot tables are fricked, the awful latency made shooting feel even worse than it is and it’s full of game breaking glitches. Sure, Day Z was just as bad when it released, but it was half the price and didn’t lie about what it was.
It's all fake and devs tried to run away with 15~ million dollars.

But was it a scam aimed at player? most likely no, devs have been releasing games on steam for awhile and know how it works, they would never get any money from it.
