It uses only standard male/female/neutral and not the moronic ones, and you can easily skip over it since it's literally the last option you can change before finalizing a character. The game doesn't even mention that you CAN change it, you'll only see the option if you're looking for it rather than just hitting 'confirm' like most people will do; and the game automatically assumes your gender based on bodytype. If MS decided to make it a program that could sync with Steam and other platforms the user desired, allowing you to have temporarily auth for all the games covered by GamePass at the time, it would be better. However, they don't want to do that, even after spending ages finding out that Halo MCC, Sea of Thieves and their other former exclusives did much better selling direct on Steam; 70% of a frickload of sales is much better than 100% of a pittance from Windows Store.
Atop this, GamePass does not include DLC for games currently offered on it roster - you have to buy DLC for games you don't own if you're interested in that content. Hell even Ubisoft's Ubi+ is better in this regard, you pay your sub fee and all supported games, including brand new ones on release date are flagged as the "best version" (ie Ultimate, Gold etc) which is a good way to keep people subscribed if they like even 1 or 2 games per year.
If MS would make these changes GamePass could be great, or at least as great as any subscription service could be (provided the games run on your PC, not some cloud platform Stadia style ) but for now its unfortunate. Hell they could probably make a fortune in new "pass through" GamePass sales through Steam where both MS and Steam got a cut of subscriber dollars. Otherwise, frick downloading a proprietary shit client to play games that are mostly all on Steam anyway because MS wants to have a hissy fit and then hopes you buy DLC on a platform you don't even like to use.
I shouldve specificed. Gamepass is good because it lets you play new releases for next to nothing, you dont have to worry about not having the DLC when the game doesnt have any yet. So you can play the game to its completion and move on. If you like the game you can buy the game cheaper than at launch and get the DLC, if you didnt like the game enough to buy the DLC then you already got your fill, you didnt need to pay full price for a game you ultimately didnt really care for.
I can agree to that I suppose, but I still think HOW they go about doing it is a part of the problem, especially considering many games launch with day 1 DLC or soon to launch stuff etc. They could still provide all that while having better policies, but the more people put up with it to get the new game on a platform they really don't care for etc... the more they'll continue to think it a viable process and hve no reason to change, support Steam etc.
If they fixed those issues allowing me to use Steam , including DLC and the game selection was good I'd likely subscribe, but as it stands I'd rather just pirate or wait, rather than support MS's current intransigence in this regard.

This, but unironically. Most multiplayer games are F2P and I don't purchase skins, battlepasses, etc. I haven't purchased any sort of pozzed single player game in years, and if I'm interested in the gameplay, I usually just pirate it.
And this has worked for the better part of a decade for me, since when games focus on "pronoun people shit" over gameplay, worldbuilding, and character development, I simply don't bother with them, and I never feel fomo.

Not really. If MS decided to make it a program that could sync with Steam and other platforms the user desired, allowing you to have temporarily auth for all the games covered by GamePass at the time, it would be better. However, they don't want to do that, even after spending ages finding out that Halo MCC, Sea of Thieves and their other former exclusives did much better selling direct on Steam; 70% of a frickload of sales is much better than 100% of a pittance from Windows Store.
Atop this, GamePass does not include DLC for games currently offered on it roster - you have to buy DLC for games you don't own if you're interested in that content. Hell even Ubisoft's Ubi+ is better in this regard, you pay your sub fee and all supported games, including brand new ones on release date are flagged as the "best version" (ie Ultimate, Gold etc) which is a good way to keep people subscribed if they like even 1 or 2 games per year.
If MS would make these changes GamePass could be great, or at least as great as any subscription service could be (provided the games run on your PC, not some cloud platform Stadia style ) but for now its unfortunate. Hell they could probably make a fortune in new "pass through" GamePass sales through Steam where both MS and Steam got a cut of subscriber dollars. Otherwise, frick downloading a proprietary shit client to play games that are mostly all on Steam anyway because MS wants to have a hissy fit and then hopes you buy DLC on a platform you don't even like to use.
I shouldve specificed. Gamepass is good because it lets you play new releases for next to nothing, you dont have to worry about not having the DLC when the game doesnt have any yet. So you can play the game to its completion and move on. If you like the game you can buy the game cheaper than at launch and get the DLC, if you didnt like the game enough to buy the DLC then you already got your fill, you didnt need to pay full price for a game you ultimately didnt really care for.
I can agree to that I suppose, but I still think HOW they go about doing it is a part of the problem, especially considering many games launch with day 1 DLC or soon to launch stuff etc. They could still provide all that while having better policies, but the more people put up with it to get the new game on a platform they really don't care for etc... the more they'll continue to think it a viable process and hve no reason to change, support Steam etc.
If they fixed those issues allowing me to use Steam , including DLC and the game selection was good I'd likely subscribe, but as it stands I'd rather just pirate or wait, rather than support MS's current intransigence in this regard.

Seems like a good way to get frames back. Also, for your reference; FSR is not DLSS, it is an upscaling feature that crunches larger resolutions down to scale through a process known as downscaling. You aren't getting a fake resolution, you are getting a 4K image condensed to a 2K one. An 8K image condensed to a 4K one. A 2K image condensed to a 1080p one. All it does is take a high resolution frame and squeeze it down to your preferred resolution so the fidelity is intact, while maintaining a relatively stable framerate.
