Goblin Slayer

Is pic related good? I'm a big fan of the anime/manga and thought I would introduce some of my players to this setting. They are all fairly new tabletop players and I'm running DnD 5e for them, and was thinking about having them play a new game soon.

Would work fine in GURPS, where lethality is naturally higher and weapon length might matter for cave fighting.
    >5e
Oh this is a bait thread. Frick off.

Yeah, its actually not bait. Just a genuine question, my group is fairly new to ttrpgs and thats what they want to play.

      Go outside sometime.

You're moronic. 5e is good for beginners because of how utterly smoothbrained the game is, it's like you're complaining about training wheels. GURPS doesn't have anything to do with it either, because this is a set of game rules on its own.
It's like you people see "5e" and just shut down while you sperg out.

You gotta realize that you're the DM. If you want to run it the players are either going to get down or lay down. If you want to try something or do something else you can just do it. Afterall your players are new which means that they don't know shit.

The system is interesting while having some elements of older and newer design. The system supports the action of the anime/light novel well. I prefer the system presented in Konosuba, but Goblin Slayer is still pretty solid, especially the system attrition/combat fatigue. You want to end fights as quickly as possible.

Horseshit. It does not. Try making a flour explosion or any of the other battle tricks Goblin Slayer pulls off. The system doesn’t handle any of that stuff.

How obsessed is the RPG with sexual violence?

Because I would strongly advise against graphic rape scenes in your games unless all the players are 100% confirmed comfortable with that.

The rape memes about GS are largely exaggerated, it barely ever happens and merely is there to show how inhuman and monstrous the Goblins are. Although, I would argue that in any world with the level of violence and savagery the monsters in GS display, there is no way the men in such worlds would ever allow women into the adventuring profession in any way shape or form. They would also be pretty genocidally violent towards monsters and probably organize entire crusades to purge them. But, it's just a for fun adventure manga, it doesn't have to make sense, so yeah.

this. I think it happens "on screen" once or twice and then is usually just implied but it's also such a tiny side detail in the grand scheme of GS, Side Story and Year One. I'd say there's more time dedicated to Lizardman really liking to eat cheese than goblin rape

That's a terrible setting for new players, it makes mechanics too "real".
Give them the best d&d official comic instead.

It's still amazing how good that comic series was, whoever wrote it did a great job. Too bad it never had any decent continuation.

It's a fairly simple 2d6 system where rolling higher is better.
You can gain multiple levels in classes, your class level and stats add to your 2d6 roll to beat a target number, if applicable.
Combat attack vs defence is a roll off and at a draw the defender wins, armour adds to the defence roll and subtracts from damage if they fail to defend.
There is a wound and fatigue mechanic, PCs have 'Life Force' (their HP) and if they gain wounds they gain fatigue more easily, if they suffer wounds x2 their LF, they die.
If they get 5 Fatigue, they also die.
In combat you gain Attrition, which can give you Fatigue, so you actually want to avoid combat or end it quickly.
Luckily either taking a break to have a meal or having a sleep will reduce attrition and fatigue. You can also get Stamina Potions to help this too.

My one issue with the game is that character creation mainly stems from race and classes and PCs can feel very samey.
Luckily there's a bunch of skills to pick up to add some variety.
In this way and with a simple 2d6 roll off mechanic, it's a simple game, though with all the different modifiers it does have some depth there.

It’s modified Sword World, the Japanese rpg that was their equivalent to D&D for decades. There is no official translation for Sword World (though there is a really good fan translation) so this game is the closest we’ll get.

This show got one of my friends into tabletop, I'm glad. Never really watched it myself though.

I was a bit skeptical going in since I'm not a huge anime guy but was pleasantly surprised, there's adventuring guilds, limited spells per day, classes etc, honestly aside from the blood and sexual violence it's a pretty standard fantasy adventure, I like how GS himself despite the doomslayer comparisons acts a lot more like the Mandalorian between not taking his helmet off and having a variety of weapons/accessories for different purposes, granted I'm a sucker for hunter type characters with like 5 different weapons and traps and bombs

Gobslobber is one of the worst isekais out there, what would compel someone to pay for the privilege of playing in such an uninspired setting?
