Holy shit dude same I remember getting a really good sequence on SPIRAL and going back and forth with a buddy I was good friends with. It's really fun to find routes and paths for really good scores and its fun to just zone out and vibe to.
Just got back home found my screenshot. This game was what I played when I was stressed out and needed a 5 minute relaxer / distraction. Sometimes I would use it as a warm-up before playing Street Fighter IV. Really beautiful and fun game.
CE2 isn't that bad, it's just that DX is too good.
I S-ranked all the CE2 courses, which was more fun than I expected it to be. Soundtrack is godly, so that helped. I barely bothered with the gimmicky adventure mode.
dx+ is fantastic
protip for ghost combos the layout for most levels is built in such a way that you always get a power pellet ghost before the ghost timer runs out
keep following the tracks, quickly swap directions to get an extra ghost, then race for the power pellet ghost
IMO this really was Pac-Man’s New Super Mario Bros.
I never got the hype for this game but it went on to be stupidly successful and influence the direction of the series pretty negatively. More or less the same thing NSMB Wii did to Mario.
After GA crashed and burned, Pac-Man was demoted pretty heavily to a generic “legacy franchise” for brand merchendising, akin to Felix the Cat. The few games we got after were basically mobile-tier or more remakes/reimaginings of the original arcade game.
Basically the same issue with 2D Mario starting to all blend together because of oversaturation and stagnation.
CEDX outsold everything GA, despite the fact it was obvious the fans never asked for Pac-Man to be rebooted in the first place.
The fact it took until 2022 for them to do anything close to what fans were begging for is kind of painful. The answer was clear in front of them the entire time.
My strong resentment toward CE has mostly gone away but I’ll always remember CEDX for having a similar negative effect as NSMBWii did for its respective franchise. (Keep in mind that game outsold both Mario Galaxy titles combined)
Oh, you're one of those mascot autists who base their entire perception of Pac-Man around those platformers from twenty years ago. That explains enough.

I base it more on just that, I feel Pac-Man lost having an actual identity in the 2010’s after GA failed to captivate people (for obvious reasons) so they made him less of a video game character and just a “so retro” brand for boomers that didn’t even play video games.
The fact people still act surprised whenever I bring up this series has a fanbase shows we are still suffering from the fallout.

And you're a twitterhomosexual too. No wonder you spout so much stupid shit.
Arcade-centric gameplay/presentation *is* Pac-Man's identity. Sorry you grew up when Namco was trying to grab its own piece of the Mario/Sonic pie.

Super Mario Bros wouldn’t have existed without Pac-Land to begin with.
I've never been super-into the original arcade Pac-Man, but I'm practically addicted to CE, particularly the nes demake.
I guess it's the faster pace that makes CE more appealing.
It's crazy that I just noticed my score for one of the stages is supposedly in the top 5 percent. Like holy shit I figured I would have fallen by now since I haven't played the game more than twice since I moved out into my own house.
>God, I love this game. >>>
I think I am still in a few top 100 lists for some of the courses. I dunno how some of the high score players do it... Put in 250+ hours according to Steam. I also love the original Championship Edition as well.
>zoomers hate "arcade style" games
Where did you get this from? Pac-Man hasn't had an actual new, decent game since 2018. There's no real incentive for anyone to like Pac-Man right now, but the property will continue on because it's surgically ingrained into the cultural zeitgeist and people will continue to play old Pac-Man games and get Pac-Man tattoos and whatnot because Pac-Man, like Mario, Sonic, and Donkey Kong, is "cool."

Nice
Shame about the sequel.

good game that comes free with a phenomenal soundtrack.

Excellent game indeed. Are there any other simple arcade games this polished and well made?
IMO this really was Pac-Man’s New Super Mario Bros.

Championship DX+ was the definitive version of Pac-Man though. New Super Mario Bros. just fits in with the rest.
Pac-Man Arrangement and Pac-Mania had more to offer to me, especially in terms of replay value.
Just because you keep saying it doesn't make it any less stupid.
>influence the direction of the series pretty negatively
I don't see how Championship Edition resulted in anything related to Ghostly Adventures.

So the "problem" has nothing to do with the CE games, but with GA being shit.
Thanks for the info.

I FRICKING LOVE PAC-MAN
Me too
Main menu theme is the best thing about this game.
DX+ > CE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CE2
I remember being top 100 in a couple stages on the first week in XBL. It's a seriously awesome time waster.
It's crazy that I just noticed my score for one of the stages is supposedly in the top 5 percent. Like holy shit I figured I would have fallen by now since I haven't played the game more than twice since I moved out into my own house.

Arcade (style) games are based as frick and zoomers are fricking moronic for hating them.
What are some good modern arcade-styled games? I played Gal-Gun recently and that was fairly enjoyable
What even provokes a schizo post like this?

I used to be in the top 100 in literally everything in this game. I would come home from the bar and just trance out for hours.
