it was always bound to him, there was a comic about his trip through Egypt that explain it and another one about his life where Atreus was a younger kid where he fight werebears.
Boring by design. The characters spoiling even the most basic of puzzles after 15 seconds really shows how little the devs know about making anything remotely entertaining.
4/10. It started as an 8 but it got worse and worse as it went on. I hate how much of a beta male pussy they've made Kratos. Literally all the fricker does is whine about Atreus and his mary sue wife and I hate it. My anger at the writers is building by the day.
Also wayyyy too many quips and too much departure from Norse myth.
This execution was so fricking lame compared to GOW3. And the message is fricking gay too. "This isn't who you want to be?" b***h please, this is who Kratos actually is. If he had stopped being a pussy and reawakened that old fire from the start, they wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.
>Literally all the fricker does is whine about Atreus and his mary sue wife and I hate it.
He literally tricked all of them into doing what he wants (until he got busted). Which is more than Zeus ever achieved by angrily yelling from the mountain.
You can see since the first encounter that he’s terrified of Kratos. He knows about his deeds through Tyr’s stories. He also knows how much stronger Zeus was than him. When they first visit the house you can see Thor and ravens enter the house because Odin is: >too scared to come right away >has his ravens at the ready to teleport Thor away
He also observes throughout the game how Kratos just goes through everything with ease, Kills his unkillable son, tames Garm - an unkillable beast they had to chain up in Helheim because they couldn’t do anything else. MURDERS his unkillable gatekeeper god. That mask next level shit was his only hope and he was desperate to get anything out of it.
>He literally tricked all of them into doing what he wants
Yeah, he "tricked" them into starting ragnarok even though that was literally the opposite of his stated goal >You can see since the first encounter that he’s terrified of Kratos.
Wow great, our main antagonist is almost as much of a pussy as nu-Kratos
Frankly I don't fricking know what I would do if I was Odin. Not piss off the god killer I guess. Maybe trick him into leaving somehow? Make up some prophecy about Loki needing to see some astrological sign that will only be present at a specific time in a far away place. How about Egypt? Frick those furries, they can deal with this greek dickhead.
>He should have tore Thor's guts
Why? He had no quarrel with him
Other than beating the shit out of him earlier, threatening his son, and siding with Odin
>Other than beating the shit out of him earlier, threatening his son, and siding with Odin
All got rectified by Kratos beating the shit out of him, also Atreus needed that Thrud pussy and that wasn't going to happen if he killed Thor

He's already the product of interracial/interspecies fricking, I don't think Atreus can be picky
>Not piss off the god killer I guess. Maybe trick him into leaving somehow?
Fair enough, but that’s not exactly very alpha of him either.
And given how prophesies sometimes work but not really they’d just find some Tyr mural in Egypt telling them to go back lmao.
Odin had to act quick because if he didn’t intervene - they’d keep looking for real Tyr. And as we know - real Tyr was in Asgard, so implications of Kratos invading Asgard and freeing Tyr are not great for Ragnarok.
>Other than beating the shit out of him earlier
It was an understandable retribution >threatening his son
I don’t think he was even aware of this >siding with Odin
That got resolved in their talk.
I mean younger Kratos definitely killed for less, but his motivations were way different too.

So free Tyr himself while Kratos was gone >It was an understandable retribution
It was not. Kratos and Atreus did nothing wrong. >I don’t think he was even aware of this
He mentioned it during their second fight to goad Kratos into killing him. Frankly he ought to have, because of the following >I mean younger Kratos definitely killed for less, but his motivations were way different too.
At first, yes, but by the very end Kratos had understood that the tyrannical gods themselves did deserve destruction irrespective of his own desire for revenge. Odin, Thor, and the other Asgardians frankly had it coming. Kratos was wrong to throw his purpose away so trivially, he is the god slayer, and ought to have re-embraced his purpose. A writer with teeth would have had Atreus get killed due to Kratos's newfound pacifism.

>So free Tyr himself while Kratos was gone
Tyr leads armies against him during Ragnarok in the prophesies. Freeing him would be the last thing he’d do.
>Kratos was wrong to throw his purpose away so trivially, he is the god slayer, and ought to have re-embraced his purpose. A writer with teeth would have had Atreus get killed due to Kratos's newfound pacifism.
That I agree with. A more tragic trigger would be much better. As much as I like Brok, Kratos (even the new one) would not lead his son to war over him.
I mean they still paid the price for inaction, it was just a lesser character. But at least there was no side quest to revive him or something - modern media is incapable of killing likeable characters usually.

Something he's much more likely to actually do if he has to be rescued rather than being freed. Or, Odin could even "rescue" him while in disguise, and help him "escape" the realms entirely. >But at least there was no side quest to revive him or something
That I'll certainly agree with. Honestly I halfway expected it but they restrained themselves.

It was so heavily hinted during the first discussion about soul parts that I thought it would be the main motivator to go back to Hellheim.
What I really think they should have done is actually killed Kratos in the first fight against Thor. You play as Athreus losing hope, go to Odin looking for answers. And then Kratos wakes up in Valhalla and wreaks havoc in Asgard. Kratos refusing to die is a staple of the series and it’s a shame they dropped it. Would explain him losing all his skills too. And would make the prophesy play out too.

They alluded to it during their first but used a cheap copout or "subverted your expectations" moment after Thor revived him. Theres also the fact that Kratos really is far above the Norse world when he wants to be. Atreus being issued a threat by Thor cost him a tooth and knocked him for a loop. It cost Heimdall his life. If at any point in the game Atreus was horribly wounded or killed Kratos would not stop and would butcher anyone sans Mimir and Freya.
>how much of a beta male pussy they've made Kratos. Literally all the fricker does is whine about Atreus and his mary sue wife and I hate it.
Well, that is, he did the same thing as before? I killed my wife waaaa, I killed my daughter waaaa, Gods forgive me and take away the pain, Gods please help me, I killed my wife, I killed my daughter. And now I'm going to kill myself... This is apparently different. Or you're just a liar and didn't play the old Gown, gay. >mary sue
Cool mary sue. She didn’t kill a single Asgardian, defeated by drunken Thor, lost her people, her home and hid in the forest on Midgard while having sex with some dirty Greek. MARY SUE yyyyyy
You are a degenerate, you know? >Also wayyyy too many quips and too much departure from Norse myth.
What the hell? They repeat them word for word. Here's a squirrel, here's Fenrir, here's Freyr dying at the hands of Surt. What else do you need? 90% Ganker didn't even know about the squirrel in Norse myth

Played it after platinuming Elden Ring. It’s a high 9/10. It’s probably the most video gamey video game that will appeal to anyone. The presentation is leaps and bounds better than anything on the market. The care that they put into the game is staggering. The level design is amazing and the way it loops back together is super reminiscent of Bloodborne. The smaller open world segments reminds me of the smaller dungeons in Elden Ring, and the bigger story areas do a great job of capturing large dungeons and levels in older games. The story is also great and does a great job at building the characters and making you feel for them. My only real gripe is the Norse mythology takes a backseat and is just kind of a backdrop for the characters to play out their stories in. A few inconsistencies here and there, but it’s pretty minor. Some amazing acting on the parts of the actors as well. The boy especially does a good job, making him a big set up from the previous game. Combat is also great, with some of the secret bosses feeling like something out of dark souls. Combat can be hectic at times when it comes to multiple enemies, due to the close camera, and it may be just me because I’m so used to just standing my ground and killing everyone, when the game clearly wants you to play more mobile with new environmental attacks and options. Gear building is also great, with many builds and play styles so most
people will have very different Kratos’ by the end. I just wish there were more varieties of runic attacks. Overall, I enjoyed it more than Elden Ring, since it felt more relaxed and I didn’t have the pressure of scouring everything in case I missed something that would lock me out of a trophy, but I can understand why anyone would choose one over the other. They’re both great games. Another gripe I would have is that It’s really dependent on you having played the previous one, unlike 2018, where just having a basic knowledge of Kratos was enough.
>Overall, I enjoyed it more than Elden Ring
I mostly enjoyed it much more because combat is actually fun and engaging, instead of just O+Jump attacking though everything. Big boss fights feel and play good.
Also despite that some of dialogue is annoying it really makes faffing about in the open areas much less tedious because you already have some banter/lore/character development happening in the background. 50% of Elden Ring is just riding your goat in silence.
>instead of just O+Jump attacking >O+
Literal sony marketers, lmao. I hope they're paying you a western wage! Then again you probably can't even read this.
Nintendo is L, Xbox is LB. Maybe some third party do have it, but they’re mostly shit and most PC players I know use either Sony or Xbox one. Even steam controller borrows Xbox scheme.
Forgot to add, I really liked that you get different companions throughout the game, and they will each say something different if you take them on the side quests or not. It would have been very easy to make a companion silent if they weren’t meant to be on the side quest, or just lock you out of a side quests until you bring along the right companion. And since these side quests are one and done, they took the time to record dialogues that most people will never hear on their first play through since you can only bring a single companion along at a time. And despite it being annoying at time, I do appreciate that the side characters will actually comment on a specific puzzle and not just give generic hints. Really shows that gameplay and narrative was developed hand in hand and not as something desperate from each other, and really made me wonder if they designed the puzzles and level first, and then had the VA’s go back and record dialogues for them, or have the VA’s record dialogues and then create puzzles around it.
It was a cool movie, but it's annoying how sometimes I have to manually control the characters in the movie, why don't they move on their own is something wrong with Blue Ray player? My model is called a "PlayStation 5" and from what I look only others have recorded this issue.
The quipshit writing, especially the cuckold signaling shit, hold the story back.
Aside from the movieshit interrupting gameplay, the latter is alright, but it's just not "God of War".
First one was better not that it was a great game either but rangarok doubles down on all the jank and shit design choices for the combat and didnt fix a damn thing from the first.
