I remember not buying this game several times when it was right in front of me because "$400 is way too much for a video game." What a fricking idiot.

woooow, you could have made a whole 500 dollaroos! Lmao, get a job and buy some non-moronic crypto (and a few moronic ones) and you can go from 500 to 50000 in a year.

            >buy some non-moronic crypto
Would literally rather lose money on video games that participate in that.

Yeah but today is not yesterday. Tricking people into thinking the same holds true is how they bamboozle people. The best scams don't prey on people's stupidity; they prey on people's greed.

If you'd bought AMD stock back when it was under $2 like Ganker told you to, you could be retired right now. The moral of the story is always follow advice you read on Ganker.

I suppose it's not a terrible idea to throw some money into stupid shit, too, like if there's some new crypto called moroncoin or something. If you can afford to throw away a couple hundred there's always a chance it gets meme'd.

I'm convinced you're better off walking into a casino and putting however much money on a random number in roulette than putting it into crypto now. The odds are literally better.

You were right. You're still right. $400 is way too much for a video game, let alone whatever it's going for now.

The retro gaming market is finally unironically healing and of course the one place that constantly b***hed about it, /vr/, is having second thoughts.

Actually I think the game is pretty alright, I just don't really jive with RPGs as a whole.

If you like RPGs I think this game is a fresh spin that's worth trying.

I think its just that we're crossing the line where people nostalgic to Saturn are aging out of the hobby. Its not like the NES. You have to fall into a very specific niche to be a Saturn enthusiast. And every single one of them is now over 40.

Hey, we’re still alive. Plenty of graybeards streaming these games on TikTok.

That's another thing. One of the major driving forces of the price explosion is YouTube stars. But younger kids aren't going to be watching a 60 year old MetalJesusRocks.

Yeah. At the end of the day it's just another game, not a life changing experience. The regular Panzer Dragoons are better anyway and they've always been affordable by Saturn standards

Saturn fans have a bad habit of putting the decent exclusives on a pedestal and overselling their quality because in the end the library just isn't that spectacular. So they take good games like PDS and pretend that it's an equal to FFVII. It ends up causing problems for those games because it makes people overestimate what they're walking into and walk away disappointed. While they'd otherwise be perfectly satisfied if people were more honest from the start.

It's one of the important Saturn games I still haven't played yet along with Dark Savior. I keep meaning to try but life keeps kicking my butt. I'll try and give them a shot, someday

Sega should have just reissued this game for other systems. They could have made remasters for psp or 3ds, they didn't need to spend that much money.

People tend to become more obsessive with jrpgs, at least that was the case before English media started attacking them. And Saga used to have this aura of legendary game no one played.

They can't. Sega had a massive HDD crash back in the day. Working Designs mentions it in the Magic Knight Rayearth manual as the reason it took so long for the game to come out (a 1995 game in Japan ended up being the very last release in the US). Then House of the Dead 1 never got a rerelease despite 2 and 3 getting a compilation on the Wii. It's never been confirmed but both House of the Dead and Panzer Dragoon Saga are suspected to have been part of that same crash that took out Rayearth.

lol, of course morons who worked at sega didn't follow the good old 3-2-1 rule.

          Anonymous

I don't think anyone followed that rule back then. HDDs were expensive and unless you were Nintendo you probably didn't have the storage space. A lot of times source code was probably intentionally deleted after a game released. Out of sight, out of mind.

In the long term, retro videogames have infinite value, much like gold, real estate and bitcoin.
