You say this but most companies want every single penny that leaves your pocket.
Imagine if a company had to pay OS Tax + Engine Tax + Programming Language Tax + Gameplay Tax. Shit like what Unity pulled isn't a big deal on it's own but if more smartasses decide to do it too...
moronic bait but maybe someone else needs to understand this thing
Companies operate with relatively small profit margins once you pay for salaries, operational costs and taxes
For example the company i used to work at was paying a 2% to 3.6% fees on Paypal transactions
You'd think that on a 100$ sale 3$ is nothing, but if the profit margin per unit is 10$, suddenly PayPay is eating 30%, and they had to move the fee onto the end customer and trying to force them into wire transactions
>per copy of a game sold
except it's not per game sold. it's per game launched on unique system. this means you get charged for refunds and pirates and you get charged whenever a customer moves the game to a new computer or updated hardware.
this is complete bullshit and was never the plan. they very heavily implied they'd be using hardcore DRM as part of their "unique analytics" to count.
then they do a 180 and say it's self reported. they don't know what they're doing.
Learning how to use Godot is hard because just like unity I have no idea what the frick I'm doing but I plan to make my first game with it by making a short game using a edited model of the Godot e-girl.
i really wish there was a position.xy in godot like there is in unreal
making a 2.5D game is really fricking annoying with the amount of vec2->vec3 conversions i have to do when really i'd rather just affect the x and y coords
Are you homosexuals at least getting paid to have your gay little proxy internet slap fight with each other?
It'd be pretty pathetic if you're doing it for free.
imagine still crying you have to pay a few pennies per copy of a game sold if you make more than $200,000

We'll have $250 video games yet as companies pass it on.

I woulda been fine with rev share, per install fee was technically stupid.

As a right-wing national socialist libertarian who hates weed, I totally agree. Big corporations need more money.

you need to update yourself.
it is a self-reported number based on sales
And what's to stop being from lying about how much their game sold?
that's the grey area some people are not sure of yet. in Unity's apology, they said the game won't "phone home" to give those numbers automatically.
if you believe that then there's technically nothing to stop the dev from lying.

door in the face
at some point before 2024 they will just say no self reporting shit and people will cheer and forget everything
or virtual machines and whatever else people come up with

Dumb shill
Shill for what? Godot is making more money in one month than most anons make in a year. It doesn't need shilling.
only the devs hired to work on it are making money and they are paid with the funding
Which other game engine has a e-girl as there mascot
touch grass
oh shit
i wanna make a game with her
i really wish there was a position.xy in godot like there is in unreal

getting tired of doing shit like
position.x = new_position.x
position.y = new_position.y
or
position = Vector3(new_position.x, new_position.y, position)
when really it should just be
position.xy = new_position
it seems like such a small grievance to have until you have to do it several dozen times over and over and over again
what a dumb thing to whine about holy shit
how about you use vec3 but don't use the z? who gives a frick?
make a setgetter or your own data structure or a helper function
position = tovec3(new_position)

Godot is still the inferior engine. I would know because I've used it.
Of course it's inferior. If it was better Unity would be dead and buried. It's good because it will eventually be ok, while being FOSS.
No
You mean "Go! Don't stop!"?
