They're going by the countries that sell the most Nintendo products, there's an infograph frequently posted on Ganker. After Spain, it's either Canada or Germany.

They're gonna pull a Smash Bros "Everyone Is Here! Never Ask Me For Anything Again." and actually give us every existing main series region, but cut down to the size of a region of the PLA map with SV's performance and it's not actually the return of the national dex it's just starters, legendaries, shill mons, and about 20 other pokemon per region plus 100 new ones that have since been discovered across the globe. Instead of one big dlc we'll get a season pass microtransaction type thing where they'll slowly add new areas to each region every 3 months with some of the missing pokemon until it does have the full dex, but each small dlc area will have maybe an hour of story and like 30-60 pokemon for $10 so by time you have everything it'll be like 2-3 years later and $400. Then time for gen 11 to drop where they pull a gen 5 and have new pokemon only until dlc citing what a disaster it was when they actually gave the fans everything they want despite not even trying to make something good of it and just slapping shit together with duct tape while leaving out 80% of the features.

Is the Spanish influence in SV big? I didn't play them but apart from Alola, no region really felt like its real world counterpart heavily influenced it since like, Johto.

You get a few landmarks, a few Pokemon, it's not much really, they should focus on something really specific like they did when they were doing the Japanese regions, it'll make the region more coherent and have a strict theming.

Not really, apart from the overall region being shaped like Spain, having some spanish words within a few pokemon names and that some NPCs say Hola.

        It doesn't matter.
Literally none of the regions since 5, arguably 7, have matter where they're based on in the slightest.

Tell me, what did being based on Spain "add" to SV? Or SWSH being based on the UK?

this is what i mean, I don't mind them having real world influences at all but it's hardly important. At most you'll get some Pokemon based off of fairytales from the region and some landmarks that pay homage. That being said a Scandinavian region that truly FELT like a Scandinavian region would be awesome.

One of SV's many, MANY, sins, was doing nothing with the region. Which frankly is part of Pokemon's problem as a whole.
The region should play an important part in the gameplay, because it's the fricking level design. Just going off what you suggested, a Scandinavian region should be largely mountainous, ice, ground, and fire types should be some of the more common Pokemon around, and travel should be more difficult and less standard than other regions, with fjords being something of the norm, broken up by semi open valleys

Yup, but what it would instead be,
            >Start in a grassy warm valley
            >Reindeer pokemon is the generic rodent
            >One big fjord that divides the region, maybe 2, you either walk across them on a bridge or it's a surfing route
            >Some cold areas mostly towards the end of the game
            >Order meatballs with different flavors that can boost your stats
            >There will be a town with viking longhouse style architecture, gym leader wears a viking hat
            >Big tree towards the end of the game analogous to Yggdrasil thats the people say is important, you find the legendary there and never go back.
            >Everything else will be standard Pokemon stuff
            >Chances are there will still be a random desert area

this seems like a good thread to autistically spaz about how shit the Galar region's design is. Why is it cold in both the south and the north of one fricking region? and then it goes back to sunny at the far north and far south like nothing ever happened?? And we don't need to get into how the wild area goes from fields to a little desert pocket, back to fields, it's a mess.

The DLC areas are the best areas of the region but everything else is so incoherent. Ballonlea & Glimwood Tangle is the only part of the base region worth a damn.

My gut tells me we're going back to Japan. I don't think Kitakami is a hint to that at all, but the fact that we have two uniquely Japanese mythicals in our DLC probably means they've got that on the brain. I also think because it's the 10th generation and close to the 30th anniversary they would want to go "back to where it began," either symbolically or actually giving us an updated Kanto in a modern generation with new content. I'm dead serious too.
