Just the fact that there's a clear distinction between the 'legacy dungeons' and the open world part irks me, makes the latter feel like useless padding. the mini dungeons had good loot sometimes, cool weapons, spells and talismans. gael tunnel had the popular katana moonveil, theres one in the north that has a kino str/faith greatsword. if i didnt need the loot, i was happy to get souls to level up with
i liked running around on my horse instead of dodge rolling down some tunnel, the atmosphere was great, lots of places to explore
the big turtles were fun
the night bosses were fun as well
there were a lot of smaller locations to clear and some unique enemies and npcs scattered around in the world
some of the evergaols were challenging, the assassin one comes to mind

The biggest valid gripe anyone can have about the Open World is that the game is poorly balanced because of the amount of content, and the reuse of boss fights is very disappointing.

There are a ton of valid complaints. The problem with the overworld is the rewards for killing the boss at the end of a dungeon is largely random so you can't figure out a quick build path without looking up stuff.
The pacing isn't the problem, it's that you have to explore out of the way and get useless trash for your build unless you either look it up before hand which is shit or you have played the game 12+ times and actually know where every talisman, spell, and weapon is.

The reuse of fights is fine. The REAL problem is that the world has almost no dynamic elements. Every encounter at a particular place is always the same. The only exception is sometimes field bosses only spawn at night, and only 3 kinds of them. The things you encounter in the field should be more random, and change based on story progression, like having snake men roaming around gelmir after beating Rykard or having fire cultists show up in altus after killing morgott and opening the path to the forbidden lands

Been playing past Dark Souls games and honestly, I'm happy it went over world. After Bloodborne perfected labyrinthine levels and DS3 nailed the arcade-y bossfights, it just felt natural for them to unironically open up the world to a larger scale to try something new for ER.

- Fast travel should only work at graces and should've had a cost, and graces should've been less common. Returning to a grace should've required a homeward type item which would actually make crafting important.
- Summoning the mount should've been conditional so you couldn't rely on it to cheese open world encounters.
- Sneaking should've been more rewarding.
- The open world should've had more obstacles to force the player to fight or sneak through instead of riding everywhere freely.
- Spirit springs should not exist.
- Nights should've been more dangerous and moving the clock forward should have been limited to ending the day so you couldn't escape from the more dangerous nighttime by cheesing.
- Nights should've been so dark you'd need the torch or the lantern or a glowstone to see past melee range (the erdtree is not a light source, it's an illusion only grace-aligned people can see).
- Less copy pasted camps and ruins, fewer but more involved open world structures but not closed off like the castles and forts.
- Finding side dungeons in the open world should've been more involved. Hide a path in the bushes, put the entrance behind an enemy camp, make better hints than just pointing a fricking finger at them.

I usually dislike open world games but elden ring legitimately did it good.

I feel like Elden ring legitimately had that magic that most open world games lack, where you truly don't know what you're going to come across.

I've got the great dragoncrest talisman on and the non-phys +1. I'm thinking of going up in fth for some buffs or heals I'm only using rocksling right now and I barely use it.
Healing incantations aren't worth it unless you're cooping or pvping
Make sure you level up your mimic if you're going to use it, it's basically fricking worthless until it's maxed out especially late game
Healing incants are useful solely for dealing with the fricking revenants
If you're only using heals for revenants, you only need the lowest tier 10 FAI one, so it's still not worth investing into FAI for.
Tbh I don't mind copy-paste bosses because most of them are fun to fight over and over again. My main problem is smaller dungeon boses dying in 3 hits.
Open world had the plus of making me feel that sense of exploration I haven't felt from a Souls game since DS1, though it only lasted up through Rennala, and then sparsely afterwards
