Going to play this for the first time, what are main differences from fallout 3/nv? Also going to go straight for survival mode.

RPG elements are almost non-existent.
Yeah, i noticed there are only special stats, how does that work? Can I just use any weapon without any problems?
Yeah. Special stats rarely have any actual effect on the game.
Game is... Fine.
Make yourself a little base and play it like a survival crafting game.
Save often if you're doing survival mode, the game crashes a lot.
Oh yeah if you're going to do survival you're gonna want to install a mod that allows you to save whenever you want because even if it doesn't crash, early game there is so much bullshit that can kill you instantly out of nowhere, cars randomly exploding etc.
I did that already.
One more question, stat checks happen with all stats or just charisma?
Stat checks are rare and don't matter.
Just Charisma, and there's a lot of them. Charisma is the stat most used in the game.
the only point of charisma is having enough to get local leader perk so you can do trade routes with your towns, party boy can be kinda fun too but not really necessary.
This
anon is correct, but also Charisma checks are 90% "Give me more caps for this quest"
Yes, FO4 is streamlined as frick.
i play the intro get to the town, build
explore a lil more and get bored af
why did skyrim felt more fun than this?
Recently was playing through because it's been a few years and all the DLC is free on PSplus
I'd say don't really bother trying to play it as an RPG. It's a looter shooter really. Install a lot of mods. Any you like. Just keep browsing. Maybe throw in different types of cheat mods to make building settlements bearable, things like that.
Don't do survival for your first playthrough unless you plan on using a mod that lets you still save whenever you want. A lot of unpredictable bullshit you couldn't possibly account for is liable to kill you unexpectedly (like brushing up against a stationary car and instantly dying because of physics bullshit), possibly setting you back hours, it's the kind of feeling that makes you want to stop playing the game forever, not fun. Great for a second playthrough, not first.
>survival
Normally I'd say play unmodded first but I would really recommend one that lets you save while on survival. Like the Anon above said, crashes.
I did that already, i also played both 3 and nv on survival very hard so i think this one will be easier.
mods save the game somewhat
Start Me Up Redux and RED allows for some roleplaying options
Silent Protagonist F4SE and Expanded Dialogue Interface are a must
with these mods, you can get near 3 in terms of RPG
follow A Midnight Ride guide for a stable game
Far Harbor is very good
Nuka World is good.
Automatron is meh.
>Also going to go straight for survival mode.
Unless you're specifically installing a dozen mods to fix it, do not play survival mode. I'll ruin what little enjoyment you can get out of this game (namely settlement building).
survival mode is moronic because todd played a "realistic bullet damage" mod after fallout 4 released so he balanced hardcore mod to be more like that about am onth after the game came out and now the "stealth archer" archetype is so much more ridiculously OP than everything else because its as if the mode was made just for that specific build in mind.
Survival mode increases your damage the more consecutive kills you get without saving, you'll want to invest heavily in stealth to survive
>what are main differences from fallout 3/nv?
It’s worse in every way
>Also going to go straight for survival mode.
Don’t, it’s a chore to walk everywhere
