i didnt have a pint of reference graphics wise as i did not play the 2002 version.
i just like it more than halo 5.

because it's good and there's nothing to b***h about
Ganker only discusses things when they can complain about them somehow. there is no greater indication of a game's quality than if Ganker is curiously quiet about it.

      lol i get it

because it simplified and started the decline of crpgs. its more reminiscent of a console game
it would've been so much better as a classic crpg

classic yep dnd world love it

im not meaning to say i like halo 5. off topic though.

I talk about NWN with a very specific crowd and they do not gather on Ganker.

cool. i need to expand my horizons past Ganker. i just dont like signing up to potentially dead forums

We did, after it came out, you fricking zoomer homosexual.

      it is, somewhat.
mostly QoL and modern hardware compatability.
toon mode graphics make it look like a modern indie game, which i found preferable to

      here's your enhanced graphics, bro!

also the linux port is the only reason I have finally finished it and sou+hotu

nwn has 1 main character with follower monkeys, instead of a party of 6 actual characters

          >having a tight narrative focused on one single character and not needing to spread your attention to equipping/building multiple characters and deal with their dumb 'companion quests' that infect modern games is somehow a bad thing
we need to go back to 1 main character focus rather than the smorgasbord of dumb 'companions' that are in every other rpg released today

It would be great if NWN was an example of that, but it's not. It's a complete meandering mess of a story. I don't think I've ever seen anyone here talk about the third act.

Simplified? Jesus Christ it has a complex multiclassing system with something like 100 spells and 50 abilities on top of that before even getting to weapons, armor and the skill system.

When it first came out it was just a cheap re-release but since then they actually did a lot with it, I wish they managed to get the rights to 2 as well.

      >only clothes and bodies in basic pack
      >you have to find out user made environmental maps for yourself.
      >and also ctp patch repository for EE in case your module uses that
      >result is worse than just using body and head replacers made for original nwn because hands and feet look like they were generated on something and not done from scratch.
      >if you play any custom module made on CEP and the likes you´re getting mixed items from low and high res packs
I just gave up on trying to make it look good. It made it look like modern wow (if not worse).

      >enhanced
      >it actually isn't

It supports specular maps and varuios shadings that you have to apply yourself on new models. People made much progress on that but result is uncanny valley. Its epitiome of "high resolution texture pack" cat image, except with exctra glee and plastics.

because it simplified and started the decline of crpgs. its more reminiscent of a console game
it would've been so much better as a classic crpg

Try playing it with PRC and henchmen ai addon. On hardcore rules its quite fun. The only problem is that you have to manually patch any custom modules for PRC, while they left only main campaign and expansions for users.

I really enjoyed NWN2, but everyone hated it apart from the expansion.

      >that fricking evil ending

It felt like Kotor - light fantasy edition.

it is really ugly and the campaign sucks

And the reason why community is not dead is custom modules and exploration pw.

      >enhanced
      >it actually isn't

The worst isn´t that but broken old modules that needed patching for quite a while.

I liked this game a lot as a kid. I've tried getting into 2 a few times but I just don't find it fun for some reason.

When BG3 released, all the haters were wondering what better CRPG to play than woke zoophile garbage BG3, and one mentioned NWN and everybody was like "yeah dude, best GOAT of all time". So I tried and it and it was okay, I guess.
Then I decided to play BG3 and it was far better. But it's a cool game nonetheless, good CRPG.

so far all these answers match up with my feeling about the game
      so it's gooooooood 😀

Many main characters in NW are black like the leader of the main campaign. There are also plenty of strong female characters in the game.
Is NWN also woke? In a time when woke wasnt even a word?
Or are you, perchance, mentally ill?

brother, friend, man of his word... It is not about the content made by Bioware that you should seek. It is the fan made modules and roleplaying that you should focus on. This might be a poor example, but if you've ever played (and enjoyed) Space Station 13 then you are headed in the right direction.

main campaign is meh at times (although still a solid 7/10), but SoU+HotU is 10/10 kino.

I wasn't trying to disparage those campaigns. But you should start digging into some fan made things, because that is where the meat and bones are.

The original campaign for NWN fricking sucks, I don't know why people say otherwise, it was a big disappointment at the time and hasn't improved over the last 20 years.

        >I don't know why people say otherwise
Because they haven't played it and are trying to fit in by praising something old
NWN1 OC is one of the worst things Bioware has ever done

Used to work with the toolset. Playing with the script editor and making your own scenarios was a lot of fun. I was amazed at the level of work behind persistent worlds and getting them to function properly, saving all of your quest progress and even having trade skills.

Yeah I had fun with the toolset too. I used to make summon monster spells give random summons and shit like that.

The main campaign was always a glorified tech demo. It just illustrates what you can do with the toolset on a rudimentary level. What you are buying is a tool, that you and your friends can use to create countless stories.

Yes you only play one character. That was the point. You're supposed to play with a couple of friends. Online is where the real game is played.
