It's great but pretty short. The art direction with the levels is pretty hideous as well (it's supposed to be inspired by some old game I forget the name of but in reality it just looks like the levels are filled with placeholder textures) but the layouts for the levels are generally pretty great and allow for some creative approaches. Some of the cheats add some pretty interesting gameplay elements as well. For example there's one cheat that makes it so you can OD on health packs if you use too many in a short period of time which will cause your vision to sway around for a bit before your character vomits, draining a good portion of your hunger meter.

A leg sweep to temporarily disable regular human enemies would be cool but there's not much need for something like that since they are pretty weak anyway and you can annihilate large group of them with a grenade.
Being able to grab enemies and use them as human shields before throwing them would be really cool. Super complex, but I could imagine the dev being autistic enough to pull it off. Would be really cool grabbing some enemy who's on her knees and about to blow herself up only to grab her and fling her at a group of oncoming enemies, blowing all of them up in the process. It's fun enough kicking suicide bombers just before they explode into other people, so maybe it's unneeded? It does seem he's drastically nerfing Martyr's movement speed in the sequel. I honestly wonder if he's even gonna keep parkour in it? I can't imagine how he'd be able to design levels to keep parkour and shit relevant but not overpowered when none of the enemies are even capable of similar traversal to keep combat that dynamic.

Easy mode is easy, and there's a lot of secret upgrades and weapons that make you overpowered as hell.
Most of the stages aren't too long, and the longer ones usually have shortcuts you can take if you get creative with your movement.
The game is a masterpiece, the only thing that could have improved it in any way is to have the maps made up of even blockier blocks and somehow manage the inclusion of even more teal.
It's okay, nothing too crazy gameplay-wise. Music and atmosphere is good and the art is amazing but the levels are very monotone visually, and the ones where you can fall into pits or lava are extremely annoying.
The game would be 100 times better if it was a 3d TPS with ragdolls but that's asking a bit much for a solo dev starting from scratch with unity.

There's some stuff off the top of my head I remember. Martyrs are born from the genes of Delirium, the giant Martyr twins near the end of the first game. Technically, Martyr aborted her sibling after crawling into their mom and setting off a nuke inside her womb. Martyr is 100% human, unlike Delirium which is an angel (demon).
Found it enjoyable, one of the few instances where after playing the demo I bought the full game moments later. Don't care about guro, didn't even register for me so I didn't know what people were talking about afterwards. The artstyle, background story, and other things reminded me of older Japanese games where the artstyle and world seemed pretty out there. Would buy an artbook if doekuramori would release one.

Almost the entire game is blue rooms and platforms in space/red skies/no skyboxes at all. The only major breaks between this is when you do eventually reach the surface of the planet, you get sandy ground and lava everywhere. He's shown off way more level features for the sequel, but that's a long ways off from now. The game's also pretty light on how it presents its story. You have brief intermissions between sets of levels where you can buy shit from the merchant and get some Engrish dialogue from the angel who put in the help beacon, but there isn't anything like lore books or whatever to find, even though the system for such a thing is already in the game (the tutorial bookcases).

It's great but pretty short. The art direction with the levels is pretty hideous as well (it's supposed to be inspired by some old game I forget the name of but in reality it just looks like the levels are filled with placeholder textures) but the layouts for the levels are generally pretty great and allow for some creative approaches. Some of the cheats add some pretty interesting gameplay elements as well. For example there's one cheat that makes it so you can OD on health packs if you use too many in a short period of time which will cause your vision to sway around for a bit before your character vomits, draining a good portion of your hunger meter.

Partially true. They usually only use Pattern Buffers to create replacement bodies. Martyrs are explicitly born in pairs, and are never cloned. At worst they're pure human test tube babies born from angel (demon) genes. At best they're literally born from Delirum's womb, somehow. In the sequel you play as a Martyr whose twin was male and she really, really, really liked her twin brother. Something happened, he was literally chopped into pieces (probably by a demon (angel) cult, and now you're trying to revive him so you can frick his brains out again, or something. Genuinely no idea if the sequel Martyr is the same Martyr as the first game, but regardless, they're all born from the same gene stock (donated via Delirium before she-he went offered itself up as a mother to birth the Sleeping God).

What kind of kicks or new moves do you want in the next game?
A leg sweep to temporarily disable regular human enemies would be cool but there's not much need for something like that since they are pretty weak anyway and you can annihilate large group of them with a grenade.
Being able to grab enemies and use them as human shields before throwing them would be really cool. Super complex, but I could imagine the dev being autistic enough to pull it off. Would be really cool grabbing some enemy who's on her knees and about to blow herself up only to grab her and fling her at a group of oncoming enemies, blowing all of them up in the process. It's fun enough kicking suicide bombers just before they explode into other people, so maybe it's unneeded? It does seem he's drastically nerfing Martyr's movement speed in the sequel. I honestly wonder if he's even gonna keep parkour in it? I can't imagine how he'd be able to design levels to keep parkour and shit relevant but not overpowered when none of the enemies are even capable of similar traversal to keep combat that dynamic.

Easy mode is easy, and there's a lot of secret upgrades and weapons that make you overpowered as hell.
Most of the stages aren't too long, and the longer ones usually have shortcuts you can take if you get creative with your movement.

The game is a masterpiece, the only thing that could have improved it in any way is to have the maps made up of even blockier blocks and somehow manage the inclusion of even more teal.
It's okay, nothing too crazy gameplay-wise. Music and atmosphere is good and the art is amazing but the levels are very monotone visually, and the ones where you can fall into pits or lava are extremely annoying.
The game would be 100 times better if it was a 3d TPS with ragdolls but that's asking a bit much for a solo dev starting from scratch with unity.

There's some stuff off the top of my head I remember. Martyrs are born from the genes of Delirium, the giant Martyr twins near the end of the first game. Technically, Martyr aborted her sibling after crawling into their mom and setting off a nuke inside her womb. Martyr is 100% human, unlike Delirium which is an angel (demon).
Found it enjoyable, one of the few instances where after playing the demo I bought the full game moments later. Don't care about guro, didn't even register for me so I didn't know what people were talking about afterwards. The artstyle, background story, and other things reminded me of older Japanese games where the artstyle and world seemed pretty out there. Would buy an artbook if doekuramori would release one.

Almost the entire game is blue rooms and platforms in space/red skies/no skyboxes at all. The only major breaks between this is when you do eventually reach the surface of the planet, you get sandy ground and lava everywhere. He's shown off way more level features for the sequel, but that's a long ways off from now. The game's also pretty light on how it presents its story. You have brief intermissions between sets of levels where you can buy shit from the merchant and get some Engrish dialogue from the angel who put in the help beacon, but there isn't anything like lore books or whatever to find, even though the system for such a thing is already in the game (the tutorial bookcases).
Guro/ryonagays have the best doujin game devs, oddly enough.
