Boring. Play through the same levels as the main campaign but enemy encounters aren't as good and the pacing sucks. Why would anyone play that more than once? And that battleship area, which is the one NEW area in OG SW, is probably the worst area in all of RE4.
Nu SW adds in much more new content, giving you an actual reason to come back to it. Plus it does go out of its way to remix some of the areas you already went through in the main campaign so it's not literally the same thing again.

He actually did go to the island in the original to retrieve Krauser's body after the rival organization betrayed him.
The clear intent in the remake version is that he's evaluating the effects of the plaga, and he was attempting to retrieve a dominant plaga (hence the scene where he looks at Krauser and smiles, and why he already had Krauser's body when Ada betrays him). The amber was thought to be necessary, since it is some form of a control plaga, but Wesker states that Krauser has all he needs.

The clear intent up until 4 was that Umbrella is the main antagonist, but in CV, 0, and 4 they fall apart, with 4 originally having Spencer be this centuries old antagonist that Leon defeats, leading to the end of Umbrella.
This would then lead to Wesker and the Rival Company being significant from 5 onwards, but due to the end of FLAGSHIP, all of that got put into one game. Now, the franchise has two "Sagas" of games, one with a big main antagonist, and another that meanders around, occasionally having one.

Even The Connections itself was kinda dropped in RE8 just to deal with the origins of that fungus. Whenever Capcom plans on a new villain they drop the ball and it's honestly a miracle Wesker worked as well as he did.

The BSAA is implicated as dangerous in its introductory game, RE5, where Tricell is one of their largest funders.
