Now add BG3 and look at the 5 year timeframe. Its early access launch in 2020 garnered more interest than any starfield or ffxvi trailer, showcase or demo. People sleeping on it are out of touch on just how popular Larian is with rpg players right now, in large thanks to the vacuum left by absence of any major wrpg release since Witcher 3. I am fairly certain it will beat Starfield on Steam. It has lower spec requirements, lower price tag, fantasy rpgs are more popular than space sims, and it has 4 player co-op with unlinear gameplay, which is perfect content for streamers and youtubers. Starfield comes out a week after BG3 and will look like a game two generations behind in terms of gameplay. It doesn't even look much better graphically, and has significantly worse character models.

they equal it in surface area, but not in variety of content. There are no towns in either map or sidequests in either map. The sky stuff is a few islands copy+pasted over and over while the underground has literally fricking nothing. The "dungeons" are so tiny and short that they barely qualify as dungeons.
With ToTK it's not just "reusing the assets." It's literally the same map with a couple sky islands copy+pasted around and an underworld that's completely empty. I'm fine with asset reuse. It's when you take a long as frick time to develop while barely adding anything new to the map that is kinda shitty.
Nintendo rarely wins anything at the Dorito awards because it's Sony and Microsoft that pay for the most marketing since the show is just made to sell commercial trailer slots.

It's a Bethesda game. Normies will love it. For one I'd actually really like it if Xbox won a game of the Year, they're the most consumer friendly company (gamepass, all games come to pc/steam day one, backwards compatibility, multiple consoles and price points) and it would be nice to put Sony and Nintendo in their place for a minute.

Larian doesn't have the money to pay off TGA for BG3 to win, unless Hasbro decides to put out. If backroom politics and deals wasn't a factor, I'd say it would easily win GOTY and I expect it to be the best rated and user scored major release of the year, as well as one of the best selling, but I am fairly certain the Geoff already made a deal with Nintendo for Zelda to win. Divinity Original Sin 2 peaked at something like 3k players when its EA launched and then had 95k on release. BG3 had 50k players on its EA launch. Starfield is a Space RPG with sim elements. What sim elements Starfield has is very basic and not the main draw. From what I've seen, you can't just ignore the story for the bit and frick off to start a career hauling junk or fighting pirates like in some previous space sims.

Realistically TOTK will win. I think FFXVI will get decent initial impressions but the game will turn out to be shit. BG3 has no chance even if it's amazing because there's not enough hype for it and TGA always picks something BIG unless they have a 2021 situation when there isn't a single game like that the entire year. The only way I could see BG3 winning if it gets really popular after launch and if there's a simultaneous console launch.

It has Shadowheart, which automatically makes this game undisputed 10/10. Honestly, I am hyped. I am little worried about the plot, but from what they recently showed we can expect some The Wire political kino shit in the city. My main worry is that even though we can make a literal pact with the devil, the fricking worm still seems like non-issue, and something to fix after all the side quests are finished. Aside from that, the early access is probably the best game I have ever played.

People sleeping on it are out of touch on just how popular Larian is with rpg players right now, in large thanks to the vacuum left by absence of any major wrpg release since Witcher 3. I am fairly certain it will beat Starfield on Steam. It has lower spec requirements, lower price tag, fantasy rpgs are more popular than space sims, and it has 4 player co-op with unlinear gameplay, which is perfect content for streamers and youtubers. Starfield comes out a week after BG3 and will look like a game two generations behind in terms of gameplay. It doesn't even look much better graphically, and has significantly worse character models.

they equal it in surface area, but not in variety of content. There are no towns in either map or sidequests in either map. The sky stuff is a few islands copy+pasted over and over while the underground has literally fricking nothing. The "dungeons" are so tiny and short that they barely qualify as dungeons.
With ToTK it's not just "reusing the assets." It's literally the same map with a couple sky islands copy+pasted around and an underworld that's completely empty. I'm fine with asset reuse. Realistically TOTK will win. I think FFXVI will get decent initial impressions but the game will turn out to be shit. BG3 has no chance even if it's amazing because there's not enough hype for it and TGA always picks something BIG unless they have a 2021 situation when there isn't a single game like that the entire year. The only way I could see BG3 winning if it gets really popular after launch and if there's a simultaneous console launch.

That's the most ridiculous complaint I have ever heard. DOS2 and BG3 have top tier soundtracks and its the one of the best things about their respective games.
It has Shadowheart, which automatically makes this game undisputed 10/10. Honestly, I am hyped. I am little worried about the plot, but from what they recently showed we can expect some The Wire political kino shit in the city. My main worry is that even though we can make a literal pact with the devil, the fricking worm still seems like non-issue, and something to fix after all the side quests are finished. Aside from that, the early access is probably the best game I have ever played.
